Hey all,

Weasel47 posted this great Island Tower:

The landscaping is just gorgeous and there are some particularly interesting window designs. It all breaks up into modules for interior access.

And I was just thinking about fantasy castles. This is nice!! The interior design is also well done, but the best part is that it is all modular. Sweet!

VERY NICE! Raised castles always look the best. The cave adds a nice touch also. Thanks for posting these Bruce :D

Yes the cave is awesome. And all the pieces fit together so solidly it seems. And the overall feel of the tower is pretty epic. The design has inspired me.

This is really awesome. I especially like the design above the door in this pic, the inset helmet is nice.

That is a sweet castle! The rock cliffs are most impressive.

Nice, I really like all the landscape sculpting he did. But not to the disculsion of the castle itself, which is very well done. An excellent piece of work with all the decorative features, etc. Nice thread choice.

I was really impressed by this one, thanks for pointing it out. The rock landscaping is so unique and the castle really molds to the shape of the rock well. I did find it just a bit confusing when the color didn't change between the sandy beach and the rocks though. It sort of looked like the whole thing was built on sand for a minute. The area above the inset grate looked a bit too square as well.

The castle itself had some interesting window and architectural ideas that were pleasing to look at. The fact that it was modular and had an interior was a wonderful bonus!

Mm...I love this. This is the type of MOC that most inspires me, I think, as far as castle goes. It's obviously fantasy, yet not fantastical enough that it couldn't be real. Brilliant bit of work.

Wow, it's so good that I would actually kill to live in a tower like this.

Awesome!

Nice spot Bruce! I like the landscaping (reminds me of a sandstone or clay area where the beach and cliffs do blend together) but the castle lets it down slightly especially if you are not overly fantasy inclined (like myself).

God Bless,

Nathan

Wow, just the water base is impressive enough! This is a great castle, really well thought up. Great work! :D

Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

As Bruce speculated on the front page, Keith Goldman's work was indeed inspirational for me.

The stone is intended to be something like sandstone, which is why it matches the sand. The fact that I had all that tan sitting around waiting to be used contributed to the decision, of course.

While building this tower I realized I didn't have nearly enough grey arches, slopes, or bricks. I used just about all of my 1x4 arches for the windows. I have since spent way too much money on BrickLink getting lots more, as well as more tan, brown, and green for landscaping and blue for water. I just started another island to go along with this one, which should be completed in a week or two. The next island will have a lot of sandstone to match this one, but I'm throwing in some dark gray volcanic-rock as well to mix things up.

Look for that on my MocPage soon, as well as a set of detail and interior photos of the Island Tower.

Hope I can when it comes out, anyone else having trouble with mocpages?

Dude, can not wait to see your next one. Keep it up!

thx for the link Bruce, the landscaping is stunning + it has some nice interior features (the brown mf head supports, etc...). overall looks as a nice and balanced MOC to me
