What is a vignette?
Here - a small-scale creation which ideally represents a particular idea in the best way possible using bricks.

Check out the General Lego section - there are quite a lot of cool vignettes there.

What is a vignette?
Ragnarok is correct but there are a few guidelines as well. Generally speaking, a lego vignette is any scene built on a 8x8 base. There are also "supervigs" which are 8x16.

I think you are refering to me, but I'm not sure. I didn't use the word 'molting'. I said 'mottling'. Molting is when birds lose their feathers and grow new ones. Mottling is where the surface of an object is given variations in color.

Haha, a delicate difference!

Yeah, I understand what the vig is now. It's kinda like those small 5 dollar thiangs they sell in walmart with lik e 1 or 2 minifigs and a small surrounding.

A vignette in general is a small piece of a scene, or a tiny portion of a story. In the LEGO universe, a vignette is a MOC that is built on a 8x8 or 6x6 base, and usually conveys a story. See Bruce's VignetteBricks for more on vignettes.

i reallylikethis MOC! It is really wellmade and I like the way thatyou compensated for not having very many grey bricks.
Althpugh I do agree in that you really ned some sort of gate/portcullis thing, and that theone grey wall piece really takes somethin' out of the MOC in genneral.

Thanks. I just got a gate and some more grey lego walls. I ordered a bulk pack from some lego store or ebay, and I got like 25 grey walls, so i got about 32 of them right now. I think I'll start to make my larger castle right now.

Josh Wedin: I meant amadeus. He said 'molting', not 'mottling'. I assumed that since I quoted from amadeus before, and since I hadn't specified anyone, I was still talking about him. Sorry.

P.S. What I wrote is a kind-of-quote, from Princess Bride. You can see the original here. Scroll about a quarter of the way down the page, and it's right underneath the word INCONCIEVABLE.
as you can see, I'm agreat Princess Bride fan. Haven't made figs yet, but hope to soon.

I caught the Princess Bride paraphrase but I missed Amadeus using the word 'molting'. My apologies, sir. ;)

For the castle? No. I had fun launching stones and laying seige to it with my new mongol army people. I made like 2 catapults and have some horse archers, and that's prettty much the entire mongol army.
