Okay, let's get the "not likes" out of the way. The tri-blade windmill doesn't work for me - should be four. And the housing should be a bit bigger (taller and wider).

And the "not sures": The partially hidden, but unguarded and unbarred cellar entrance. Makes me think of those critical weaknesses inherent in all the plans of evil 'geniuses'.

Now the "likes". Overall I like it.
- the landscaping is nicely 'messy'.
- the causeway and gatehouse.
- good interior layout (but it could use some decorating  ).
- the chimney flue is consistent through all the levels. (I know, I know, but it means a lot to me).

Suggestions:
Each level could do with being maybe one (or two) bricks higher.
A little more contrasting colour on the outside -- not much, just a little.

Nice work all round. The kind of thing I aspire to build someday (after the move).

Nice MOC!

I like your landscaping, especially the rocky outcroppings around the path leading up to the castle. I'm always impressed when a castle of this size is hinged.

I don't really like black castles, but as you modeled this one on a pre-existing castle it's all right by me. However, as Alan said, a little more contrast could help, it suffers a little from the big black wall syndrome.

Great work!

Thanks both!

I can argee with that, at the time I build the keep, I couldn`t find a good brick for the wind-blades :? . I am not going to change it now becouse I have plans for a new castle  .

The reason why I build black castles is simply becouse I don`t have many grey bricks

Hey Michiel,

Very nice. I particularly like the way you did the crenellations and the little bit across the water. As with Alan, I'm not a big fan of the windmill portion.

BTW, please check your private messages.

Also, large pic changed to clickable thumbnail.

Nice, you dont see to many black castles these days. The design is very well done but I think the rooms should be higher. The landscaping is average but it doesnt take away from the MOC.

Nice castle, Ristridin. Unlike most people, I actually like black castles, maybe because I have a bright moniter, so it isn't too hard to see details for me.

This castle has the look of being sort of abandoned, or at least unused to warfare, like it's a swampy area that never gets invaded. It seems like it could be well defended if the plants around it were cleaned up a bit. The interior is quite nice too, with a bit of furnishing it would be quite comfortable looking. The only thing I don't really like would be, as most others, the windmill. It's a neat idea, but it needs another blade. Overall, really good castle.

Every civilian element someone built is welcome at mine...
truly you did a great job with that mill...and everything else is wonderful...
Just keep on MOCing...

I'm not real fond of the half-timbering all the way down to the base under the windmill. I'd confine that to the upper part only.

Other than that, it looks pretty good. It is still a bit monolithic, but when building with black that's what you get. I'd also maybe stick some window pieces in the windows.

I like the landscaping too.

Great MOC! I really like the landscaping. THe only thing that bugs my is that most windmills I've seen were 4-blaided.
