Large MOC help
Hello, I was just wondering if you guys have some ideas for what current sets I should get in order to make a large castle MOC. Any line, but please make it current items, instead of things found only on bricklink etc. Thank you for your help in advance,
Alex
edit: i already have about 150 1x4 dark bley bricks.

Hey,
I'd go with the Harry Potter Graveyard Duel. That's still pretty readily available in stores (you may even find it on sale) and it has a good selection of basic bricks plates and slopes and has some very useful castley pieces.

Hi,
I was wondering what kind of MOC you were going for.
The Battle Wagon has some good peices, like the doors, and tallish slopes. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/8874.html
If you want viking minifigs, Heavy Artillery Wagon is the best choice. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/7020.html
Also, for some harder to find castle pieces, try Castle Expander Pack. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/3732.html
For bley bricks, try Fire Nation Ship. http://shop.lego.com/product.asp?p=3829&cn=246&d=7&t=3
You could also try the bulk 1x1 plates in light grey, dark grey, medium grey, and black. For these and more, try this page. http://shop.lego.com/leaf.asp?cn=146&d=18&t=7
There are also these foliferous trees. http://shop.lego.com/product.asp?p=1011 ... 6&d=18&t=7
Try this page for roof pieces. http://shop.lego.com/leaf.asp?cn=97&d=18&t=7
This page has a lot of plate lots. http://shop.lego.com/leaf.asp?cn=98&d=18&t=7
I hope this helps, and I hope that this is what you were looking for.

Oh wow, thank you. I was planning on making a large wallled castle with a fortress in it, But i was also planning on making it a sort of dioroma, with a large monster attacking it. I am planning on making the monster similar to this guy .
If you're into bley, the Fire Nation Ship is great.
EDIT: oops, just saw it was mentioned above, sorry!

Big MOCs
Ah! I've got to tell ya -- I NEVER buy sets for brick, only mini-figs. You just can't beat Bricklink for bulk brick.
Of course, if you like near a Lego store -- you can buy brick by the case. You can't always get what you want, but once you know the staff well enough they will try to order anything you want (also by the case) They can't always get it (there is an allowed list) but they can get a lot!
How big are you thinking?

That guy has one cool creature. Anyway, has someone here forgotten to mention the great Viking Fortress? It is abundant in wood colors, and dark bley 1x2 pillars and two brick high slopes!
Also A great few sets are
Battle at the Pass
Mistland tower
I believe that big ogel's ice mountain fortress is still around, the skull head has lots of slopes and pieces for use.
That's about it, sadly. Glad I could help.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I've only been collecting brick for a few months now, and at first I turned to the current sets to grow my collection. Then I realized how many bricks I was accumulating that I would probably never use (due to the issues of juniorization, specialization, and the fact that I avoid bley as much as I possibly can; though, these are matters of personal preference).Ah! I've got to tell ya -- I NEVER buy sets for brick, only mini-figs. You just can't beat Bricklink for bulk brick.
Since then I have found that Bricklink, and to a lesser extent eBay are the best sources of brick in its most pure form (ie. basic bricks which are the heart and soul of the Lego MOC). Plus you can get exactly what you want, and cut out all of the dispensibles you'd be forced to buy with it.
I just wish I'd figured that out sooner, I'd have saved a bunch of money.
Best,
brody

If I were you, rather than go around buying whole sets for parts. You can go to a local LEGO Store if there is one near you and buy bricks from Pick-a-Brick. OR, you can go to bricklink.com and buy parts there.
I've bought thousands upon thousands of bricks and plates. That is how I've been able to build my ships and buildings.
