Who's Gonna Dunnit?- a vignette

Post by Shurtugal »

Well, here's a vignette, my first one. I started by building a solidcolored fig, and thought 'cool for statues', then I made more and thought 'cool for a vig' then I made a vig.

There's a bit of a storyline, so here goes. One of the figs in the vig is of Royal Blood, but doesn't know it yet. Another is about to die, but doesn't know it either. One person is going to murder the aforementioned fig. He knows he's going to attack the fig, but the murder will be accidental.

Using this description and what you can glean from the colors of the figs, can you identify the three people?

First of all great Vig. I like the solid colored minifgs. I would never have though to build some...

Anyway, let me give this story0plot thing a guess.
1. The one that is of royal blood is the blue fig.
2. The white fig is going to be murdered.
and 3. The black fig will be the murderer.

Really cool looking vig, I'll have to think about who's who though.... More later (if someone doesn't figure it out before me).

Ooh, a puzzle. What fun!

I say the fig in the back left is the Royal Blood, since it's got a blue face ("Blue Blood" meaning royal) but is dressed in a peasantish brown. The other two are tougher. I assume the yellow fig is already dead, and this is his funeral? If that's the case I'm guessing the brown guy on the right is the soon-to-be murderer, since he has an angry look about his pose (despite not having a face). Then the victim is probably either Vladek or Majisto, and I'm leaning towards Majisto.

Am I right?

Thanks for your praise, unfortunately no one is completely right yet. I'll give the checkmark when someone guesses all three correctly.

A scene built of LEGO bricks on a small (usually 6x6 or 8x8) base is the supposed defenition of a vignette build, or at least that's what vignettebricks says, here's the site-

http://www.vignettebricks.blogspot.com/

But if you are not reffering to the in fact theme of the 8x8 or 6x6 build and in fact are saying the literal term found in a dictionary please ignore the beginning of this post. And if that be the case, here's my guess-
1.the girl with the blue face is royal blood but doesn't know

2.the grey figure is going to kill the unknown character

3.the male figure with the brown body is the one who is going to be killed

First of all, could the royal be the murderer or the victim?

If not, then here's my guess.

Blue Face is the royal, Yellow Face is the killer, and All Blue is the victim. Yellow Face wants to attack because All Blue did something to her or her family, but she doesn't know she'll push All Blue onto All Yellow's sword, thereby killing him.

That wouldn't work if you really meant "He knows he's going to attack the fig...", but if you were just using 'he' as a placeholder, then it's possible.

I would like to change my guess, if that's allowed, if not, well, crud...
anyhoo, here goes
-I beleive that all blue is going to die
-I beleive that all black is going to attack all blue
-But I still beleive that blue face is still unknow royalty

1) 'He' is just a placeholder.
2)There are three seperate figs involved (i.e. The Killer cannot also be Royal Blood)
3)Multiple guesses are welcome, but one at a time, please.

P.S. No one's got it yet.

Here is my second guess.

The blue-faced peasant is royal blooded.
The yellow fig is the to-be murderer.
The Blue guy is the victim.

alright then, my third guess-
-I still think blue face is the hidden royalty
-Now I beleive that yellow face is going to attack all black
-I beleive all black will die

OK, maybe this is more of a 'bignette'. I saw that page a while ago, and I seem to recall it saying somewhere that a it is still considered a vignette if it's as large as 16x16. I don't think it really matters how big it is, but a vignette has a completely different 'feel' from anything else, a vignette is a slice of life, there is usually some type of story happening. For example, this is a vignette, while this is not. In my opinion, it is the feel of the MOC that makes it a vig, rather than the exact dimensions, though I think 16x16 is on the larger end. I wouldn't go much bigger than that.

OK, I've thought of an analogy, a vignette is to a painting as a MOC building is to a photograph. Does that make it clearer?

My vignette fits diagonally on a 16x16 baseplate. I just didn't put it on a baseplate, (because) I didn't feel like it. Artistic licence, eh? I could take pics if you want.

The all brown fig is royalty (he's carrying a broom, looks like a farm hand to me), the all black fig is going to die (the bigger they are, the harder they fall), and the all blue fig is the murderer cause he's a clutz. Look at him carry that flag, he's gonna poke someone's eye out with that thing! :D

And here's my guess for the Story line. So... The all black Fig is next in line to rule the kingdom. The Blue guy accidently kills him and there's a trial. The brown guy is called to testify as a key witness. Then somebody of the Royal Court or Family recognizes the brown fig and they pronounce him as the new king. Then the brown fig invites the two ladies to castle to party. The two white guard figs are fired because they failed to protect the king. The blue fig then raises an army of smurfs to avenge his family... er... THE END.
