Vladek castle by golden0508

Post by Bruce N H »

Hey all,

Brickshelf user golden0508 has posted a very imposing Vladek castle:

Unfortunately the presentation isn't great, but that's in part due to the difficulty of photographing largely black MOCs. I like the red highlights a lot and there are some nice ways of giving texture to the walls. I'd like to see a populated version of this.

That is really nice, I'm glad he remebered the oh-so-goofball massive mask. But the overall build of the castle is really eye-pleasing. As with you bruce, my favorite shot is the one with the light shining through the two towers. I'm eispecially fond of the highlights on the corners of the keep itself.

once again, nice,

P.S. I wonder if he could redo the citadel of orlan? Now that would be impressive.

Wow, very well done!

It's really to bad that black is hard to capture with camera.

It looks great, I like the red on the towers. Overall, it's a good moc. But he just had to keep the swords eh?
I ow it to wunztwice for directing me here.

This is a really cool castle. Those high towers are awesome!

This is very nice. The black walls with the red floors definitely evoke 'evil', and the whole thing is constructed very nicely. Shots like this show detail well, the many recesses in the wall are great. I like this MOC a lot.

This is great. I like the way the red floors almoast give a sense of lava or something. But my favorite detail by far are the long red stripes that run down the towers, they really enhance the MOC and make it feel taller!

Thanks for posting this.

I think everyone that's posted so far agree that the red stripes were a good move on the builders part.

Very impressive ... It's a pitty a lot of the shots are out of focus. I really like the red / black combination. The best feature is imo is the main keep and I like this guard house too. Very cool :D

Very nice. This MOC does well to exude a scale bigger than its actual dimensions (most noticably in the keep). The highlights are great, and it is really nice to see what I would write off as a flawed concept turn out so well...

Wow. I really dig black castles. It's too bad they're so hard to get pics of. This thing is great. It looks very imposing and has some neat details. It keeps the spirit of the official set, but really kicks it in the seat of the pants. Nicely done.

This castle really reminds me of the set, only lots better! good find. It looks like the same basic design, but looks a lot more sturdy. Now it needs a huge army of Shadow knights, and the four jelly beans with some broken seige equipment trying to knock the front door down, axes falling all over them

Absolutely beautiful. Although, I do have to echo the sentiment that I'd like to see it populated. It's a shame to have such a gorgeous fortifaction with zero figs in residence.

I love the castle, although the swords are a bit much, everything goes together so nicely. The balck walls are plain, which I think is a good choice, I makes the castle seem thick. I could easily visualize it atop a volcano.

Active volcanco, but the castle isn't damaged, because it's black, and likes volcanos.

Now why couldn't they have sold that? For 140$ I probably could have bought half of those bricks from bricklink.

Even without a population it still looks great, but a few jelly belly corpses would have contrasted nicely with all that black.

That is one EVIL looking Castle!

That's how Vladek's Castle should be. Although I remember some drawings from Lego where they had a LOTR-like looking tower for Vladek's castle...

Would be nice if thta was incorporated here.
