You are the master of rounded lego. I take my hat of too you *bows*. The way everything is rounded really brings it all together.
I love the rounded towers and the unique shape of the castle.
I'll have to buy some blue tiles...snot water looks fantastic!

This is a wonderful Castle MOC! Nice curves and SNOT all around!! Wish I could have seen it in person.

It was very cool indeed. Lots of great details, including a peasant being pursued by a shark.
What I found so cool was that the interior walls were rounded as well. Amazing work, John!

Hi Kelderic, kelderic wrote:This is incredibly detailed for the size of it. Normally castles of the scale are far less detailed, and yet he makes it visually pleasing, and structurally sound. This is great.
Thanks for the praise. I agree - Often the larger a model is, the less detailed it becomes. I try to make the construction & details as "perfect" as possible...though you can never call a model perfect, and I'm a very long way off. Make every piece count!

Wow, a lot of curved wall sections! I really like this one. It gives me inspiration to build my Kahilawayan starship.

John this was the real standout. It was so much more impressive "in the brick" (as opposed to "in the flesh"). I don't like the 1x1 round with 1x2 brick combo generally, but it really works here.
Equally as impressive as the castle is the amount of detail you crammed into the small mainland; a road, great snot green trees, a farm with peasant and cart, and my favorite--the transblue water fall. If Matt hadn't of broken the light it would have been even better--I shall smack him at our next meeting
You deserved the Best Castle Award! Of course now you have to top it next year...he he he

This is an incredible creation, John. Everything, from the bridge to the landscaping to the castle itself, is aesthetically pleasing and interesting. I always love the details, and this abounds with them. Excellent job!
P.S. I think it would be really funny if the poor prey of the shark was Joe Vig.

Veerrry Nicely Done John!
The rounded elements are great and I am extremely jealous of your blue tile collection. Are you going to post your pics of this MOC in a new post or just keep adding to this topic?
Can't wait to see a few more detailed pics...

After a long absence, I have returned. I can't wait to start building again.

Thanks! I definitely want to build another now, we'll see...The Blue Knight wrote:You deserved the Best Castle Award! Of course now you have to top it next year...he he he
The blue tiles actually only lay under the edges around the baseplate and at the "front" edge - All the rest is SNOT. It isn't really that many blue tiles...mabe 50 of each 1x6 and 1x8, and a few others. Inside underneath the main parts of the water are a couple hundred black 2x2 tiles keeping it from flexing.wlister wrote:The rounded elements are great and I am extremely jealous of your blue tile collection. As for when I get my pictures done, I'll probably add them to this thread, if it's within the next few days.

awsome, i liek how you difyed tradition with all teh round walls and the angeled roof.
the farming scene across the way is great too.
unfortunatly i really dont liek the base. i think that it needs to go out more ratehr than go in have such vertical cliffs, although i do like the construction and detail of teh base!

Fantastic!
I love every element of this one! A nice, mid-sized castle that is wonderfully constructed. Probably the nicest MOC I've seen in the past six or so months.
Awsome work.
