My First Vignettes
My First Vignettes
I wasn't even aware of the Vignette as a method for building LEGO models until I discovered this wonderful community. All I could remember about vignettes was something my film teacher once said about a fade to white.
But while waiting for my Bricklink order to come through (all the way from sunny Germany ) I thought I might try my hand at some.
The Alchemist
Knight's Shrine
Regecide
I had a little fun with the Regecide vingette... Ever wonder why there were so many LEGO kings & how they rose to power? I provide a powerful insight into the line of succession of LEGO royalty
All pics are links to Bricklink
All comments & critisisms welcome
Thanks

Cool vigs! I just saw these on MOCpages and was wondering if you were going to post them here. My favorite is Regicide...

Hehe, the last vigs made me laugh. Very nice touches to finish of a show of great vigs. Vigs can pack so much detail, but you've done it very tasefully!

Nice stuff. I think the Knight's shrine is my favorite. The gold piece in the middle of the crucifix is a nifty touch. And that minifig head is my 2nd favorite in the Viking line. Lots of nice details in these, which sometimes gets overlooked in vigs. Good job.

All of these are really good. You've packed a lot into an 8x8, and of course the little details are what make them so nice. Excellent piece usage. I too really like the knight, but I wish his face wasn't so mean looking. You hear that lego? A calm confident looking viking with a mail coif would be nice.

How's he supposed to be a rampaging berzerker with a calm, confident visage? If anything, the mail coif head needs more anger and maybe some foam at the mouth.Recluce wrote:A calm confident looking viking with a mail coif would be nice.
Actually a calm mail coif head would be nice, but not so much for a Viking. I'm thinking more along the lines of a Cavalier. Perhaps a Cavalier v. Viking showdown?

Great vigs, DARKspawn. I like the Alchemist's bookshelf and table, good job fitting them onto the small base. Knight's Shrine has a lot of detail packed in as well, but seems a little stagnant. And Regecide is the best. I love how you got that window piece into it, and the each king being the assassin of the previous is funny.

The first one is good, great details, nice setup.
The second is really good! I love that banister, and the architecture, excellent, I wonder what you could do with a thousend peices!
The third is also pretty neat in building and setup, it's also a great laugh
Keep it up, can't wait to see some big MOCs out of you, they should be great
Ziggy

Thanks again for your kind words everyone. I really appreciate the comments and encouragement
I am going to try something oriental in the way of vigs next ... Man I hope my order arives soon - my Hall needs a roof !
I totally agree. I wanted to go for a facial expression representing grim resolve, but the coif won out in the end. I have to say LEGO have done a great job with the new viking heads, they would work well for any faction.Recluce wrote:I too really like the knight, but I wish his face wasn't so mean looking. Out of the 3 it is my least fav too, it all started with creating the stained glass slightly off-set from the rest of the vig. After that I had to work out what I was going to do with it.smcginnis wrote:Knight's Shrine has a lot of detail packed in as well, but seems a little stagnant.

i like the shrine as well. although at first i thought he was playing an organ or something.
the railings seem a bit thick, but i like them
stained glass is great, i was thinking of adding that to my totaly disproportionate church i was working on and decided tehy would require too expensive a bricklink buy =D
good job!

All three are excellent vigs - especially for first try. I love all the details - this sort of creativity is what I envy most in other builders. As to the succession of murdered kings:
