~Medieval Grand Cog~

Post by Jacob C. »

Here's a cog (Medieval cargo ship), I recently built:

Image

I call it a "Grand Cog" because its slightly larger, with three sails instead of one.

Another pic:

In the cargo hold:

Gold and other valuables are stored in the front compartment...

...with a guard to protect it:

Here's a pic of the sail design I used:

I printed it off on normal printing paper and it came out looking nice.

I got the idea for the sail design from this pic I found on the web:

Hey Jacob, great work!

The sails are excellent. Are they paper or fabric?

I really like the SNOT work on the fore and aft "turrets", both with the crennelations and 1x1 plates for design.

The overall shape is historically believable.

Excellent Cog, Jacob! The sail pattern is very distintive and I like the brick-built hull. The paper sails look good, almost like fabric. You were able to build a very unique ship, which doesn't happen with Lego ships very often. Great job!

Nice! It looks very authentic. I like the rail design, very medieval. Good to see a brick built hull too, especially one rendered so well. Great work

Very cool cog. I like the shape, the bulge is very nicely done. The cabin and forecastle are very nice, and I like that sail pattern. What I can see of the hold is great too. I can't wait till the folder's public!

Nice, I really like the colourscheme (and the fact that it´s Crusaders ;))

And assaid before the sails look good. I think it looks a bit too blocky without the usual hull pieces though..

Very cool!! I really like that sail pattern you selected, and it printed out nicely.

A super cog! :)

The shape is excellent and the sail design complements the color scheme very well. But how did this rough looking pirate-type get in the hold with the valuables? I think the guard may be slacking off.

Ah, a crusader's boat. That's great!

Like the others said it's a great sail design and the overal shape is very nice. The color scheme works well here and the below decks look cramped, but not too much so, a nice middle ground.

Keep up the work.

Great job. I realy like this. The color scheme is fantastic, and the sails the good. It also seems to be to scale with the minifigs, whcih is incredibly hard to do. thanks for sharing it.

What a great ship. I like how you did this without the pre-fab hull sections. Medieval ships are underrepresented in Lego. This one has the right look and "feel." Nicely done.

It's a one-man show, so yes. :?

Great ship! As others have said, I like that you used bricks to create the hull, the color scheme is great, and I love the sails.
