CCCL - Brickmania and poll for the next pick

Post by Bruce N H »

Hi all,

Our next CCCL is Dan Siskind's Brickmania
Image

Castle content: Dan Siskind developed a series of great MOCs to sell as customs sets. His Blacksmith Shop was so good that LEGO turned it into the first MOC set. He no longer sells custom sets, but follow the "bazaar" and "gallery" links to see his models.

The next poll is the Battle of the Brickshelf galleries. I've chosen some of my favorite galleries to go head-to-head. All but one of these are by CC members.

Martin Jaspers (aka Marakoeschtra)
Nelson Yrizarry (aka Sir Nelson, Y-Bros-K) (note: castle content is in "Castles", "Micro" and "Sculptures->vignettes" folders)
Onishi Shinji (aka shinji-o)
Piotr Rybak (aka Sir Lomero, Lomero)
Jacob Cournoyer (aka Jacob C., RabbitSpook)

Wow, Bruce, this is hard choice. They are all so good and they are all CC members except for Onishi Shingi (at least I don't think Onishi is a member).

Well, I'm going with Nelson. His galleries are full of awesome examples of what a vignette master can do. His "full-size" MOCs are incredible, as well as his Micro stuff. And he is our reigning Master Builder. He gets my vote and since I am the first to vote, he is currently winning! :)

I had to vote for Jacob, because he has so many castles I like.

I'm voting for Sir Lomero this time around, I just like his stuff a lot.

Geeze Bruce, kill me with a decision of this magnitude. I don't know if I can ever choose. I'll just say that all of these "artists" have inspired me at some point and continue to do so. I'll mention Jacob and Martin's in particular.

So, no I didn't vote because I couldn"t ever put any one of these creators above another... I wish them all well in this voting!

Although I am a customizer, I have an awe that comes from Martin's wonderfully odd peice usage on his minifigs. Great all-around Minifigs indeed.

all are great choices, but my vote goes to martin jaspers. his creations are very very detailed, and his ability to build and integrate 45 degree walls into his MOCs just amaze me.

I also voted for Martin Jaspers. His creations are insane.
But I've to say the others are very good and inspiring builders, too.
So it wasn't an easy decision.

Mwahahaha! My evil plan is coming into fruition. I will make all of your heads explode.

Seriously, my intent in these polls is that all of the options could conceivably be chosen as a CCCL, and presumably will be so chosen at some point in the future. IMO I haven't yet put up any clunkers.

Thanks, Josh. I didn't even know I was in contention.

Anyway, I enjoy building in all themes, while several of the others tend to focus more on Castle. I can say great things about each builder, and their work.

I voted for Jacob C. I have always loved his circular towers and other Castle works such as 'Fortress Del Pescatore'. Besides, I always enjoy seeing all of those grey bricks. :)

Needless to say I promote my own country up here  (though I must admit there is very interesting stuff in the other folders too :D )

I voted for Martin Jaspers.
His mocs are excellent in every way and he's a great photographer. Never a bad picture!
His City Square is one of my favorite all time mocs.
I had to vote for Jacob, because he has so many castles I like.

Hey, thanks guys!
Though like the Republicans, I will lose this election
