Very nice!

I'm not the kind to pay for this sort of thing myself, but you have put together a set of great stuff, similar to what lego was doing in it's golden age, - but just that little bit more substancial. This is the sort of thing lego should be releasing as their castle line.

A few things I'd suggest changing though, can you add corner towers to your fortress outer wall, and beef up the diagonal gatehouse just a little? One of my pet peeves is 90 degree castle wall corners that don't incorporate a turret of some sort. Just simple little octagonal ones like those on your fortress keep would be fine. Also, a few ladders for proper access to the battlements would be a nice touch.

One other question, is the fortess at all modular with the other wall sections? Can you take apart the outer wall and make it bigger by clipping in say an extra gatehouse or the stable? This is the sort of thing that will sell sets like this. Modular, detailed but affordable sturdy looking castle MOCs.

And a gatehouse should be a little more imposing, that seperate one you made with the twin towers is far more impressive. If it is hard to make the gatehouse wider because of the 90 degree angle it is all, you could add another storey to it or something.

Hello all, Thanks for your responces.

ok replies;
First,

Some questions: how much of a run are you doing on each set? (5 of each, etc)

Advice - use JPEG as your picture format. bmp (bitmaps) take up a lot of memory and load really slowly (even slower with a dialup connection).

I am thinking I want to have a run of 5 for each set. The Fortress might be only 3 or so, because of the cost.
Thanks for the advice Glancaer, good points all of them. The bitmaps issue is now fixed.

ok as for the price list; I am still working on trying to keep the price down, but the piece count is rather tough to keep down. I have not figured the prices with figs yet. Primarily because I dont know how many I want to put in each set. Incedently that is also the reason there are none in the pics. I want to keep with the tradition of suppling *lots of figs with each set, but I want the price to stay low enough that people can afford them.
so, the first draft price list looks something like this;
Cooking Cart 82 pieces $23
Blacksmith 132 pieces $38
Corner Tower 199 pieces $50
Stables 237 pieces $60
Gatehouse 238 pieces $60
Fortress 705 pieces $175

can you add corner towers to your fortress outer wall, and beef up the diagonal gatehouse just a little?

I actualy designed it with those corner towers at first. I desided not to include them for two reasons. First, that is where the other wall moduls connect so it is not really a corner. Second, I was trying to keep the price reasonable. At just over 700 pieces with out the figs, I knew that the price would have to be vary high and I would rather have people be able to injoy it and add to it.

One other question, is the fortess at all modular with the other wall sections?

Yes. I made a point to keep everything modular.

And as for the angled gate house in the Fortress, I kept it simple for several reasons. One, again the price of the set. I didnt want to have to charge $250+. Two, being inside the "outer" wall, i.e. the other sets, I thought I would go with a 6059 Knight's Stronghold look. I did make sure that I made it solid :wink: . As for the construction? Well that was actualy fairly easy. 1 x 4 hinged brick http://peeron.com/cgi-bin/invcgis/psear ... &anyword=0. The trick was keeping the length right so it would fit. Perhaps I should call the set something other then "Fortress". The idea was a keep like structure that the Lord/Lady could live in. Maybe something like a walled manor.

Anyway, thanks for all the intrest and input folks. I am working as fast as I can to get these ready for release. Also starting the design for the 2nd run, so if anyone has anything they espesially want included let me know.

A well-made tournament area would be nice.
Don't make me angry... I'm running out of places to hide the bodies.
