A Castle Interior

Post by DARKspawn »

Hi all, this as my "Castle Interior" entry for CCCIV.

The idea is that an evil Black Falcon lord has captured a forestman's fiance & plans to wed her. The forestman has galantly come to her rescue - & none too late, as he surprises the foul naive in her prison bed chamber! I fierce melee insues as Black Falcon guards rush to their Lord's aid. But the Lady is far from helpless, she picks up a candlestick & fixes her deadly intent on the back of her captor's head...

I have to admit that at this stage of the comp (this is my 6th entry out of 7) I am feeling a little burnt out lol. Being new to the community, it has sometimes been a struggle to balance this intense building with real life ;) As a result I was hesitant to post this one at first, but please tell me what you think.

Well, I like the MOC itself. It has lots of detail, and a nice overall contruction. The story, though, I am not sure about. I mean, the "evil Black Falcon lord"? What's with that? :D Ah well, everything had it's faults. :D Good luck in the contest.

lol Thanks

I am sure his point of view towards life are not shared by his superiors - perhaps corrupt would have been a better choice ;)

Very nice. I like the detail a lot, especially the spider web above the front door... it's always the hardest place to reach when cleaning.

If you build the other half, you've got yourself a nice little castle.

Maybe it´s been done before but I REALLY like the stairs. The whole MOC is very nice though, lots of neat little details. The statues are a nice touch (I´ve done something similar but those were alive..)

Thanks, all :D

I was pretty happy with the stairs myself! They were actually originally designed for my fortification entry, but didn't make the final cut. As a result they became the starting point for this MOC. It's a pretty simple idea so I would not be surprised if it has been done before either.

I agree the stairs are quite nice. Did oyu do them with black 1x4 and 1x1 bricks?

Yep! Although I used the 1 x 1 round plate at the axis & the shape is braced by the 1 x 1 round brick on the end of each step.

I have to echo on the stairs part. They are really cool. How sturdy are they?
Good luck in the contest. :)

Actually, sturdier than you might think. Especially when properly fixed at the top & bottom. I wouldn't make it a "load-bearing" feature though ;)

Too many good things to mention here!

I like the classic grey castle, but with some great architecture. Not overdone.

The candle stick is awesome!

Fantastic stairs, the idea could be built upon and morphed for several uses.

WOW! Nicely done. Even a little story scene to go with the MOC. I really like the spiral starcase and those candles look cool.

GREAT WORK! :)
