I knew I had one more in me... CCCC entry... Curling

Post by the_lorax »

I woke up this morning... looked at the time in US eastern standard time and thought... wow... I still have three hours... and a dream of minifigs participating in the fine sport of culing dancing in my head from my new years dreams.

So here it is... The winter recreational activities in Medieval England.

this is great idea, but it doesn`t look that it`s from medieval times ;)

I think you'll find that curling is Scottish ;)

An ingenious idea. You could make it slightly more medieval looking, but it is still quite clever.

Thanks...

I was thinking of how to make it more medieval, but I had limited time so I had to rely on the period costumes :P

Oh and I didn't realise it was scottish...

I knew I should have googled it, rather then just google imaging it.

Cheers

Very nice. The idea is nice, and well executed. I like the two little kids playing, too.

Good job all around.

Great little scene. Lots of action & fig interaction. I like the way you did the Curling aisles. Well done & good luck. Curling always perplexed me though - its all that sweeping

Scottish huh? I thought it would be from somewhere like like Norway, but I have no doubt it was the Scotts. With all due respect they certainly have a flare for unusual sports ... caber-tossing, golf (probably the craziest) & Haggis-ball (OK that may not be real - but it could be ;))

If it had been Norwegian it would probably have been called somethin cute like Kurreling or so... :D

Anyway, really nice MOC, I really like the ice effect. The concept in itself is the best part of the MOC though. Good work!

Thanks everyone.

The competition has been a lot of fun, I don't really have a theme so it was fun thinking about a theme for once...

And I would love to thank everyone for the supportive and encouraging comments.

Cheers

Nice! I like the way you did the ice, and the brown helps establish the area as the shore of a lake. I also like the snowball fight in the back. Good luck in the contest!

I love the fact that it is a winter scene and the white in the trees, really does make it look like snow.

I would have guessed it was a medieval scene by the costumes. I can just visualize it now, the castle folk have just gone to the lake to have some winter fun.

Job well done – and good luck in the contest!

Thanks

This competition has been awesome, and allowed me to mess around with some different building techniques, and see some absolutely breath-taking awe-inspiring creations from some very talented people.

Cheers

Looks great!
It has lots of action, as others have said. I also love the ice. The snow on the trees is my favorite part.
Great job!

I've no idea whether curling is medievel or not, but your version is awfully well done, particularly the pond and bank. Those people need some gloves, though. Brrrr.
