Moc mockup of a 2007 set

Post by Baned »

I got bored tonight and made a mockup up 7090, one of the new 2007 castle sets. Here's
the "actual" (prototype) set:

Here's my moc:

I took a little artistic liberty with the colors and figures. I don't think anyone has an issue with it now featuring Black Falcons and a Black Knight. I also added 2 additional spears that the original doesn't appear to have.

I'm gonna keep it built at least until the real one comes out so I can compare the two.
Peeron contributions: 577 (Viking Chess), 7009, 7654, 7655, 7695, 7771, 8813, 8821, and 8822.

Hey,

It looks nice (though I really want the skelly horse). How well does the firing mechanism work? What sort of distance do you get from it?

BTW, I changed your large image to a clickable thumbnail.

I'm really looking foward to the undead steeds as well. Instead making a moc of a skeletal horse, I just basically rebuilt 6009 from memory.
The firing mechanism has questionable reliability, if the arrow isn't slid all the way down, it won't fire, or it'll barely slide out the end and fall on the floor. When properly loaded, I get roughly a 3 feet range.

Brickshelf. Search "2007 castle".

It is a grammatical spelling aid. If you feeling it necessary to use an abbreviation for Toys r Us, you can always use TRU. There is never a time when you need to use the letter "uu" for "you". It makes for most annoying reading.

Made a moc of 7091 now, too. Gonna take a few pics tonight when I get a chance.

The little fortification for the skeleton has an interesting design. The catapult was fairly straightforward. I actually used skeletons this time, and I've never been so frustrated with their arms. Really looking forward to the droid-arm ones now.

Also, a boulder barely fits in the half-barrel at all. Kinda disappointing.

Very nice. I like the firing mechanism on it. Somewhat unrealistic, but useful.

Ok, as soon as BrickShelf moderates it, the folder now has 7091 in it. Here's the link again: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=226186

Debating whether or not to tackle the skeleton wagon or not. Looks fairly simple as well.

I like your catapult better than the new one, since it is Black Falcon.

Victory!

The launcher arm is about 2-3 studs too long, but i had to make due with what I had. It comprised of about 7 different technic beams. Also, everything is classic colors, except the browns on the wagon, it's the new brown.

Thanks for this. By considering HOW IT WAS BUILT, I started comparing yours and the set. And realized the set contain at least 4 Blue or DarkBlue 1x1 slopes (my favorite piece) I will so be buying these up for the parts, so if people want to buy some skelly horses and soldiers, let me know by PM or email.
