When the Kraken Awakes!

Hello Classic-Castle Freaks of Utter Tyranny!!!

After seeing the Pirates of the Caribbean last summer, I decided to try my hand at a giant Kraken. Not having pirate lego at all, and an over abundance of Vikings, Dwarves and Centaurs, I decided to let it all go wild! Woot!

Image

I have included a few animations of the tentacles of doom in action as well as a nifty elevator which my son enjoys. And new this time around are some sounds of battle to get you immersed in the environment!

As this is really my first foray into anything castle/fantasy lego related, your feedback is most appreciated.

Cheers! ~ Paul.

Too many good things to say, so I will just say this: Very nice. The Kraken is done very well, and the other parts are excellent! THe hold is nice, and boat, and the ballista is very good.

Another though, this would've done very doog in the battles categorey of the CCCIV...

Oh..oh...!
Master class works! Really appealing to the likes of me (brikwar junkies). Stuff like these always remind me of why I pale in comparison when talk about brick resources.

Wow - nice MOC :D I think the kraken is done best of all - I really like how you have the animated tenticles. I don't know how those dwarves would feel living so close to the sea though .... Great work!

Good job on the Kraken! I liked that animated thing on the deep link you posted (where the picture moved). That looked really cool!

I love it! The ship is awsome as is the kraken and the mountainside base is very well done as well. I was thinking about doing a kraken battle for ccc4 but I never got around to it.

Excellent! Good detail and story! Plus sounds! I also liked the animated pic where the kraken is waving the vikings around. Very good moc!

What a great MOC! I like the motion in the tentacles, very well done. The whale tail, and the ship in general is wonderful. I like your back story and all those dwarves. I will probably post again after I get more time to pour over the details.

This MOC is wild! Literally! The beast must really frighten those tiny, helpless minifigs,

Very "Keith Goldmanish".

I like this alot. Your extensive use of SNOT makes for a very clean look, rare in larger MOCs. I also like what you've done with your ship. The original was quite boring. The armoured hull you've given it, while not particularly realistic, looks fantastic. It actually looks like a Roman Galley (which again, is quite cool).

As others have said, your Kraken is truly remarkable. A genuine highlight for a fantastic MOC. It is rare that we see MOCs of such remarkable quality, so seeing your work posted here is truly appreciated.

Later.

Thank you everyone for your comments.

The Kraken took awhile to get the right look between the transfer of the main body mass to the tentacles. I still think it could use some smoothing out, but I basically ran out of black pieces ;-)

As far as the Ship, it is quite massive, and I think the pictures I Included did not show the full scope of the ship. It has a full lower deck for the slaves. The head and tale portion was important in making it look overall like a mighty mythical boat of destruction. I may post some more pics of the ship this weekend since people have been asking for such...

I have never made any castle-theme dios before, so I was a little at odds on the landscaping. The main thing I would change is the rock wall itself. I think that it doesn't have enough detail and looks fairly uniform. All the BURPs came from some Harry Potter sets ;-)

Thanks again for your suggestions/comments, much appreciated.

Cheers! ~ Paul.

Paul, I said it in response to your email, and will say it again...You are the master of action-packed models. Even if they do involve BURP cliffs and micro-eyes, it's hard to complain...

Where does the elevator lead? The adults-only portion of the model, hence the lack of sound bites? I'd really love to see more of the elevator, it looks like a really fun component, regardless.

Zanzabar's Valiant Might is also a nice touch...every home should have one.
