That is incredible! I love the look and may have to give this a try. You get the "Way to go!" award for this one...

Wonderful idea! This is the closest thing I've seen to real thatching with our LEGO bricks. I'd love to see the "real thing".

Those teeth pieces are the best thing lego has made in ages...

This actually got me thinking about the relative merits of the two pieces. I think that the tooth is actually more useful while the slope is useful more often. In most cases the 1x1 slope can be substituted (at great loss of look) by a 1x1 tile but there is no real replacement for the tooth that I can think of.DARKspawn wrote:with the exception of sloped tiles

Tim Gould is one of those extraordinary Lego designers who creates some amazing Lego designs. So this roof design is not a big surprise - well actually it is . Great work, but where would anyone get that many teeth pieces.

Wow what an interesting idea.
128 teeth per side for a 16 stud long building though. 256 teeth in all. That's a lot of carnivores to kill ....
I was wondering if anyone has already gathered some links to previous thatched roof designs?
I would like to try this. Have to wait until the Lego budget can handle it. I think this might look great on castle buildings - interior courtyard only - don't want the enemy setting the palace ablaze.
Cheers
Bert.

Hmm... I count 136 on each side (with 8 along the ridge).bannear wrote:128 teeth per side for a 16 stud long building though. 256 teeth in all.
This is a great design, Tim. I think I have enough "teeth" to give this a try, so I definitely will.
"Old Wizards never die, nor fade away. They just kind of operate behind the scenes and in the shadows... doing all of their weird and wonderful Wizardy things and whatnot."
Thank you for pointing out my error - I was already moving away from the ideas of the teeth in the middle to try and find an idea that completed the curve, so left those out in my count. I was thinking some cheese wedges, tan heads or 6191 or 6091 might work. I will have to get some quantity of teeth first.Sir Nelson wrote: Hmm... I count 136 on each side (with 8 along the ridge).
I would love to see your finished product.
