But you aren't an Orc. You're a viking. Orcs like to be evil. Their self-esteem suffers if they feel good. ;)

DON'T talk bad about Tolkien.

I think that Trolls are predatory creatures that live in marshes up north, hence their green skin for better camoflage while hunting prey. In time the Trolls migrated south, and they found easier prey, the humans. In their mind it wasn't wrong, it was simply prey. The Crownies retaliated to what they thought was an organized assault, and attacked the Trolls. Over the course of many years, the Trolls gained the knowledge of weapons, and then they fight the humans for meat.

I tend to think of them as a third faction at war with both the humans and the undead (and the dwarves, who are generally neutral but have a special hatred for the orcs). They're a violent, martial culture, but but inherently "evil" the way that the undead are. I like the viking comparison that was made earlier.

I agree completely.

That is true, why does everyone think there bad? What have they done to us? Do people think there bad because they look un-normal? Why?? You've got me thinking...

Well, they trampled most of my cabbage seedlings before stealing a bucket of water from my well. I've also heard rumors about them rickrolling live at open stage nights at various taverns and inns.

For me, it all depends on which orcs/trolls you're talking about. Everyone has a different take on orcs/trolls and in each writer's/player's/person's eyes. For me, I'd say just flat out evil. :orc: :D

Wow... this is like, the thread that will not die!

Trolls and Orcs being evil makes them interesting to me. Of course the one or two outcast (nice) one can be interesting or fun from time to time, but they are just excellent enemies - not for combat only, but because of the culture, background and nature of the beast that you can create around them. It just makes for excellent reading. :)

heh heh heh... I love this.
