I have written a brief historical summary of the People of Knox and how they came to be in their present state in Sunderland. This background chronicle primarily serves to create a land that I can use for fodder for some future MOCS and also lets me organize my minifigures into different factions. I have added a link to the map I drew of Sunderland, the first picture is hard to read the names of towns and such, but the rest are close ups and are easier to read. I will post the story in a few days when I have time to transfer it all from pen and paper to a word document.

I love it! :woo: Cartography is a blast, especially when it comes to making up your own fantasy world of LEGO. I have a map of my "middle earth", but it's not quite as detailed as yours as of yet... this makes me want to revisit my map and touch it up a bit, but I'm not any good with photoshop.. :? Might just draw it? IDK.

Can't wait to read the story, too. I have been gradually writing a storyline for my world but it comes in random chapters and it will take me some time to piece it all together. What would be really cool, although unreasonable, would be for a bunch of us to combine our story lines and create a huge map/story/kingdom. :D

Keep us updated on your work!

The men from the Land of Knox come from the Northlands. Knox and his men arrived at the Northwestern Shore of the Traders Cup in the year 72 A.S. Myth goes that Knox and his regiment were sailing for Quintin out of the Northland Kingdom of Adez to gain retribution of acts of privacy committed on the North Sea.

A great squall came upon Knox’s ship, “Blood Eagle”, in the late hours of the night. The storm last throughout the night. In the morning the crew, half drowned, ran aground on the shoals off the Northern Tip of Sunderland. “Blood Eagle” was wrecked, the rudder was snapped, the main mast was snapped clean off, the sails on the other masts horn asunder. The hull was pierced all along the waterline from the shoals and beating waves.

Missing half the regiment and crew from the storm, Arbitar Knox instructed the crew to create rafts. Using boards from the hill, a small flotilla was constructed, enough to carry all of the men to shore. Landing on a beach hat is today the northern shore of Stormguard, Knox found a great forest that touched the seas as far as the eye could see. Knox decided to make camp along the banks of the river that met the sea nearby.

Over the next few weeks, Knox sent out scouting parties, used to rafts to ferry supplies and salvage wood from the wrecked ship to the camp on the beach. One by one the scouting parties returned. They told two stories; “We traveled the wood till we came upon an imposing mountain range.” Or, “we traveled south till we came upon a great plain with a large walled city pouring forth smoke and the clanging of smiths heavy on the air.

Know knew he had two options, attempt to rebuild the “Blood Eagle” and attempt to sail home, or to make his base permanent, build a fortified town and survive until they could build a new ship and sail home. Knowing the strength of the seas and the terrors put upon the Northland by the sunder in his father’s time he decided to stay and conquer the woods.
Over the next two years, Knox’s men used the timber from “Blood Eagle” and the forest to construct a palisade and then a stone stronghouse. They built houses and a dock and called it “Stormguard” after the place that sheltered them from the great squall and storms since their landing.

During the time known as “the Founding” Knox’s men were occasionally attacked by small bands of wild men, often times when timbering parties went into the woods to chop timber for their buildings. The wild men’s stone and wood weapons were no match for Knox’s few remaining cannons and muskets.

A year after completing the wall around Stormguard a small skiff was sailing south along the coast in the hopes of encountering another civilized people when it encountered a longboat with twenty oars. Upon hailing the longboat, the “Swift Eye” was attacked by a hail of arrows. The “Swift Eye” used it’s six-pounder to destroy the longboat’s oars and escape. Six months later, Knox attempted to establish an outpost where the Northflow met Sweat Lake. One night, with the wooden palisade at the outpost completed, the men were set upon by a band of red haired, pale men, armed with giant two-handed swords and ring mail. Once again, Knox’s men were able to use their muskets to defeat the attackers. There were heavy causalities on both sides and a few of the red haired men escaped. However, Knox’s men captured two of the attackers and held the outpost.

The next morning, the men abandoned the outpost, they had lost too many men to withstand another attack. Upon hearing the news, Know personally integrated the prisoners. Before biting off their tongues and drowning themselves in their own blood they spat, “Your magic sticks will not defeat the Great Khan on land or sea!” Realizing the threat to the south, Knox took 150 men, all of the cannons, and started marching south.

Knox left 30 men and the few women who had sailed with the “Blood Eagle”. After a two week march, Knox and what remained of his regiment, the “Screaming 5th”, arrived at the edge of the plan. The made camp for a night among the trees that bordered the plan. The following morning they awoke to see a dust column upon the plan. Knox ordered his men to advance and draw up a fighting line with the four cannons protecting their flanks. Soon the column of pale, red haired, men noticed Knox’s formation and turned to meet them.

Known as the “Red Horde” by their enemies, they numbered more than 3,000. Men of violence and crafters of iron, they had heard stories from the Wild Tribes about tall men with magic sticks that were cutting down the forest. After one of their oarboats had been attacked and cripple and a scout party had been destroyed they had held council and voted to destroy the magic men.

Seeing Knox’s men on a slight rise before the trees the Red Horde spread out in a company deep battle line with their Longstriders on the flanks. The Red Horde intended to outflank the enemy and crush them from behind.
