History of Swordwrought

I am going to put off my Adventures of the Boy Warrior to write this. It is the history of my kingdom, Swordwrought, as well as the surrounding kingdoms.

Two thousand years ago, there were only four kingdoms in the entire continent of Draknos. One was an island known as the Dragon Empire, and was the home of the Samurai and Ninja, as well as the mightiest swordsmiths of the age. The other three were on the mainland, and two of them were at war. The one in the Northwest was known as the Elflands. Not much was known about the Elflands in those days, aside from the fact that if a company of men went in, they didn't come out again. The farthest West was the Morcian Empire. They ruled the seashore, up to the borders of the Elflands, and had friendly relations with the Dragon Empire. They had access to all of the smithing secrets of the Samurai, but the way they smithed it made the metal turn strange, bright colors.
They were at war with the landlocked Eastern empire, known as the Goldenlands, or Golden Empire, because, as the rumor claimed, they plated their castles with gold. The Golden Empire had more soldiers than the Morcians, but the Morcians had better equipment. The two kingdoms were entirely equal adversaries, and the battles raged for centuries.

Later I will add on to it. :D

After five hundred years of battles, the Morcians and Golden Empire were still at each others' throats. Then, one day, a Morcian lord named Lord Vladek of the Scorpeon rebelled, and seduced two other promenent Morcian knights to join him. One was Dracus, of the Yellow Dragon, The other was Lord Cedric, the Bull. Each one of them were upstanding Morcians, and they both were in charge of large numbers of soldiers. They conquered part of the Southern region of Morcia, and renamed it Zoria, the Dark Realm. After this conquest, they then seduced a Knight of the Golden Empire into their dark alliance. Lord Basil the Batlord. Morcia and the Golden Empire were in turmoil. Another problem appeared in the north, as large roving bands of warriors, neutral to the wars already happening, conquered the Northern half of both empires. They were the Dragon Masters, who brought the first tamed dragons into Draknos, and the Black Falcon and Crusader mercenary groups. At that moment Zoria became truly aggresive toward both kingdoms, and the territory of the empires became ever smaller.

After the Dragon Masters, Falcons, and Crusaders attacked, and Zoria grew in strength, the Morcians and Golden Empire entered an uneasy alliance. The Dragon Masters, who named their land Draconia, settled down, and entered the alliance. They weren't evil, just looking for a home. Due to the riches of the Golden Empire, the new mercenary kingdoms of Falconia and Liondom also joined in. Together, the five kingdoms, plus the Elves and Samurai toward the end, beat back Zoria. The Zorians retreated, and the kingdoms enjoyed a thousand years of prosperity and peace. Trade was good, and the leader of the Dragon Masters, Majisto the Immortal, was happy to share all his secrets of magic, thus allowing the Morcians and Golden Empire to grow in strength. Instead of fear, joy resounded in all the kingdoms. Dragons were no longer feared, as they were now ridden by the soldiers of the kingdoms. Monsters retreated to the hills and caves. The Zorians did not trouble them much, merely launching small attacks on the farthest Southward outposts. All was well.

After a millenium of peace and prosperity, the world was again shatttered by war. Feirce raiders from the Eastern Wastes, calling themselves the Dragon Knights, attacked the eastern border of the Golden Empire and the small kingdom of Liondom. They conquered part of the Golden Empire, but the land was, in turn, captured by the Royal Knights, a force of knights from the continent South of Draknos. But the Golden Empire wasn't the only kingdom with problems. Feirce seagoing warriors from the North attacked the western edge of Morcia. They captured a large piece of land in a single, mighty battle. Naming the land Swordwrought, they established trade with the other kingdoms, particularly that of two rare metals found in the newly claimed territory, Darksteel, which in its' purest form was the darkst black imaginable, as well as totally invincible, and Lightsteel, which was a milky white in color and had magical abilities. The Swordwroughtians established four orders of Knights. The Order of the Swordwroughtian Knights, basic footsoldiers and cavalry, the backbone of the army. The Order of the Lion, endowed with extraordinary strength, used as shock troops and scouts because of their love of Griffon riding. The Order of the Crown, given superhuman speed and reflexes, they are the King's guards as well as the best cavalry in the land. They were the mightiest army in Draknos, and they shrunk the borders of Zoria considerably, while at the same time expanding their own. The strongest of the knightly orders, however, were the Paladins of Swordwrought. They were called the monk-knights, because of their devotion to God and the fact that they lived alone, never married, and never used profanity of any kind. their armour, made from Lightsteel in its' purest form gave the abilities far beyond those of the other orders, and they fought for the weak, the meek, and the downtrodden.
The kingdom of Draconia was having problems of its own. A nobleman had rebelled and basically cut the kingdom in half along the Dragonsbreath River. Naming his new country 'Dragonia', he began the Order of the Black Knights. Their heraldry was the same as the Dragon Masters', only blue and red, instead of green and red. As a result, there was tension between the two kingdoms ever after.

At first the Golden Empire and Morcian knights and citizens were able to move deeper into their kingdoms when the wars displaced them. Then, as the kingdoms became smaller and smaller, they discovered they had nowhere to go, their shrunken kingdoms were just too small. At first, they became members of other kingdoms, but eventually some of them, particularly the most dastardly of them, went to live in the forest on the Northwest border of the Golden Empire. They called themselves the Wolfpack, and murdered travelers for their purses. Occasionally, if you were rich enough, they hired out as mercenary assasins and theives. They became known far and wide, but no one dared attack their strongholds in the forest, now known as Brigand's Wood, due to the fact that they laid traps for, and afterward ambushed, anyone foolish enough to attack.
However, they did have one enemy who could successfully assault them.
The rest of the refugees, led by Sir Robert of Locksley of the Golden Empire, became the Forestmen. They were the only ones who could combat the Wolfpack without being utterly destroyed, because, unlike the Wolves, who built mighty towers and forts, no one could find their camoflaged fortresses. They stole the loot that the Wolfpack gained, and rarely kept any for themselves, instead giving it to the poor and needy. They wore lincoln green tunics, and green caps with feathers stuck in the brim, and Robert of Locksley wore such a bright red feather that everyone called him Robin Hood. Even unto this day, every successor of Robert of Locksley is given the title of The Robin Hood of the Forestmen.

Majisto the Immortal started an organization called the Guild of Mages. Only the most powerful of wizards could join, and with each wizard he shared the secret of immortality. Not long after he started it, a Necromancer named Antimort joined the Guild. Soon after his initiation, he attempted to seize control of the Guild. Majisto and the other wizards defeated him, (though with much difficulty, for, being a Necromancer, he could summon any number of undead minions to help him) and he fled to the Eastern Wastes. The Dragon Knights welcomed him with open arms, but one of the Dragon noblemen did not trust Antimort. He began a rebel group known as the Dragon Clan, and after ten years of battles, left the Eastern Wastes with an army of skeletons and zombies in hot pursuit. None of the kingdoms would accept him and his band of outcasts, and eventually, the undead force caught up to them as they were en route to the Swordwroughtian capitol. What a battle it was! The rebels were surrounded by their opponents, and, fueled by their hate of the undead and the wizard in charge of them, managed to keep them at bay. A group of Swordwroughtion Knights came upon the battle, and they knew not what to think. Dragon raiders fighting their allies! It was unprecedented!
They decided to help the Dragon Clan, and when the undead were vanquished, they escorted the Dragon Clan to the capitol. After months of boring political negotiation, which I will spare you from, the Dragon Clan became the Swordwroughtian Order of the Dragon. They are the most feared knights in all of Swordwrought, and have enhanced speed and strength. They are faster than the Lions, but weaker, and they are stronger than the Crown, but slower. They took the place of the Lions as shock troops because of their great skill in handling dragons, particularly in battle.
