I think one of my favorite anime series "Naruto" covers them all up very well.
Genin- Chuunin- Jounin- Kage
Thats all of what I know. You can also add Samurai ranks, but Im very unsure of them. Extra ranks like "Genin Rookie"(lowest?) etc can also be added, why not Rise Farmer? . The title "Sensei"(plus Chuunin, for example) could be given to anyone who is a moderator.

Sensei can directly be translated to "teacher", and thats exactly what a Sensei is. In the forum it could also mean its someone who learns others to follow the code of the ninja- no spam, flaming etc.
Shinobi is a renegade ninja, could be the rank of those banned?
I just registered.

Shogun? The highest general of all? Must be like 3000+ posts. More people!JoshWedin wrote:How about "Shogun"? I just registered as well. I am Toranaga-Sama over there.
Will Samurai ranks also be in? Perhaps then it would be like
Samurai- Insert Generic Samurai Rank
Ninja- Jounin
Since most people dont know what the term "Jounin" means alone.

Yup, something like that. Actually I was thinking this should be the title for the chief Admin. Kind of like Troy here. The Hordesman wrote:Shogun? The highest general of all? Oops! Wrong order, original posted edited and this is it for all lazy people:
Genin- Chuunin- Jounin- Kage(Different 2-5 letters are added in prefix to kage for defenition of what country he comes from)
Ashikagu can be added- its the Japanese infantry so its probably low, and perhaps Ashikagu Arquebus- Infantry with gun.

These are more or less appropriate to Tokugawa Shogunate. I wouldn't take any of this as 100% accurate - I am somewhat familiar with the subject, but my knowledge on the subject is far from extensive. Different eras had different titles, rankings and ease of social mobility.
Imperials
Emperor
Kuge (roughly, members of the Imperial Court) I suppose this had grades, distinctions and offices, but you'll have to find a better scholar of Japan than me, I'm afraid
Buke (Warrior Class)
Shogun
Daimyo - Lords/Kings, with four subclasses, in order of importance:
Sanke
Kokushu
Tozama
Fudai
Samurai - four subclasses, in order of importance
Hatamoto (Banner men)
Gokenin
Samurai (rank and file vanilla plain wrap)
Ronin (wave men, masterless)
Ashigari (sorry, I'm not sure of their exact social status - it probably changed with the time frame, but they were not samurai)
Commoners (these are more "those whom a samurai can officially snub", since a rich merchant is far more powerful than a farmer, but socially is inferior since Samurai official despised anyone who might challenge them monetarily)
Peasants - I think there were a few subclasses, farmers being at the top. It can probably be broken down further into offices (dunno what the equivalent of "mayor" or village head would be, for example)
Artisans - Sword smiths were probably the most exalted, and had a much greater chance of moving up socially than a peasant, even though they were technically a social inferior. There were guilds, but I don't know if they were broken down into classes like "apprentice", "journeyman", "master", and "Guildmaster". Probably "Master Artisan" above and "Assistant Artisan " below would be appropriate in any case.
Merchants - Merchants were a necessary evil, since they didn't actually make anything (never mind that the people that passed this judgment were even less productive) Maybe add a "Master Merchant" above and a "shopkeeper" and "street vender" below.
Lowest of the low
Eta - Japanese equivalent of those stuck with jobs like "gong farmer"
Unclassifiables
Buddhist Priests
Ninja (pretty much whatever they are passing themelves off as)
Samurai Tailor
