Where do your Factions live?

Post by Pacificus »

Since this topic mixes official factions and official sets with custom factions and MOCs--and since it takes a storyteller's imagination to do so--I'm posting this under "Stories."

OK, that aside, where do your Factions (official and/or custom) live? Official sets? MOCs? Where?

As for me, the heads may have changed but the Factions are more-or-less the same...

The Black Falcons live in Black Falcon's Fortress. That's as obvious as I'll get. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6074.html

My pre-Dark Age sigfig (a Black Falcon) is BURIED ALIVE! in Black Monarch's Ghost tomb. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6034.html

The Crusaders + mostly other Lion Knights live in the Viking Fortress. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/7019.html

Amazons (in Santis armor) live in the Citadel of Orlan. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/8780.html

Danju Knights + Wolfpack are currently stationed at the Border Ambush. They need to be relocated. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/8778.html

Nuns run a hospital at the King's Mountain Fortress. From time to time, monks will arrive with an injured traveler on a stretcher. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6081.html

Rascus Knights + Forestmen live together in the trees and are very elf-like these days. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6071.html

Most Vikings are currently nomadic, or have taken to Faction society.

Dracus Knights + Karzon Knights + Black Knights (Dragon Knights) live at or around the Wolfpack Tower, which as been rebuilt taller and on solid ground. (They have since abandoned it for the time being in order to lay siege on their enemies.) http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6075.html

KKII(3) Hero Knights guard a four-walled Knight's Stronghold. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6059.html

Vladek Knights + Shadow Knights + trolls + other foul demons live at the the Black Monarch's Castle (rebuilt on a big bley baseplate...DIABOLICAL!), with an outpost at the Scorpion Prison Cave. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6085.html
http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/8876.html

Ghosts are led, in chains, into the fiery prison cell of the Black Monarch's Castle by a pumpkinheaded balrog.

Medieval Pearl Jam (Yield Knights) rock the Battle at the Pass (y'all know how old I am now...).

Jayko Knights guard a four-walled Knight's Castle Wall. http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/8799.html

Most townspeople (and a giant and a hobbit) come together at a marketplace/docktown formed by the baseplate and outer towers of the Castle of Morcia. It is policed by the Jayko Knights and Talonjay Soldiers (from the chess set). http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/8781.html

Mathias Knights live in a modified main tower of the Castle of Morcia, far removed from its original baseplate.

A Necromancer and his legion of the undead (skeleton warriors) are looking for a home.

Pacificus' Swordslingers (basically the bley Viking chainmail torso), led by my current sigfig, are also a wandering band.

Other Factions are so small that they have either been assimilated into a certain Faction, or I've lost track of their whereabouts.

A number of other buildings are currently abandoned or are in ruins. War, obviously. Famine, not so much.

These housing arrangements will all change by the time I submit this post. Fun, yeah?

Pax,

My factions in my story are based on real world nations/empires/kingdoms/organizations. There are a few mythic factions that live in certain areas of the world.

Then of course there are those other factions residing on other planets. Yes, some are in the medieval-level of technology. While others look like... "space knights".

I have a land, which has until recently been plauged by civil wars. About a month ago, human time, King Andy finally took over, and all the other competaters were given dukedoms. So, right now, I have King Andy, living in his castle, (homemade) with the KK1 solders, and some classic axemen. I then have duke Leo, who rules from his castle, (under construction). He has the Black Falcons with him. I then have my plate armor faction, living in the Tower of Ruka Dir, which they took in battle from the Dark Lord. The Dark Lord had a massive army, which when defeated, was almost completely destroyed, but a fraction escaped under a minor general and now live in two back-to-back Scorpian river fortresses.

Since I have only gotten into Castle Lego in the past weeks, I don't have much things formulated however:

The world is a fantasy world.

My wolfpack faction (which I will be buying next month) is currently "roaming" the plains, and searching for suitable habitat. The whole story will hopefully revealed in a future brick-film of mine.

The Baron Stackton's men serve as his personal guard and garrison the Baron's Castle located at the edge of Stackton and incorporated into the defensive wall which surrounds the town. Most soldiers are billeted amongst the populace of the town which for many years caused dissatisfaction amongst the burghers. Eventually (in the reign of Elizabrick I) the townsmen bought out the feudal obligations imposed by their original charter which had imposed room and board upon them.

Due to the various acts which placed limitations on livery and maintenance imposed by the crown during the 16th and Early 17th Centuries the remaining soldiers were easily housed in the old Castle while some remained in the same jobs they had previously held but as paid constabulary and officers in the reorganized and expanded militia.

As a custom faction they will eventually be housed in MOC's which, as yet, exist only in my mind. Someday we will buy a house with a LEGO room and then . . . :D

My little LEGO world consists of two countries (as of now): Mitsuyama and Daincyr.

Mitsuyama is inhabited by my "Ninja faction" and Daincyr is split by two peoples; the Cyrians (who have lived there for centuries) and the Saes who arrived quite recently and conquered Daincyr. The Saes are more or less Crusaders (with blonde and redheaded heads, so a lot of my viking heads end up there) and some KKI.

The Cyrians on the other hand are split in numerous tribes; the biggest are the Blaedd (Wolfpack), the Tarw (Bulls), Bathwr (Fright Knights), Ceirnio (Royal Knights, Dadweir from my contest entry was one of them BTW) and Westerners AKA Savages (which are a mix between Vikings, Natives and American Indians, Vikings in warpaint :))

And then on the Eastern borders of Daincyr a new enemy in the form of Black Falcons (But with Bull heads and DM helmets) have surfaced.

I get pretty specific with this sort of thing, and pretty specifically I follow a kind of real world mockery.

For starters, Crusaders, Royal Knights and Lion Knights from KK1 are all different units in the same "Lion Kingdom". The Crusaders are obviously crusaders, sent off to fight in foreign wars, the Royal Knights are the high order of bodyguards to royalty and the Lion Knights are the standard troops.

Then whatever knights (including the Jellybean lords) sport the symbols of Jayko, Rascus, Danju, Santis, Adric and Kentis exist in various barony or other lord's households in regions that aren't quite "central" in the Lion Kingdom, but are ruled by a noble lord. While I'm not 100% gung-ho about using the actual KK2 locations, I don't stray from the fact that Danju is from the highlands (Scotland), Rascus is from the great forest, or Jayko is from the coast. Wherever Santis is from there's farms, sure ... but also Polar Bears. Because Lego made Polar Bears, and Santis loves bears. Jayko and Kentis have the largest baronies, as Jayko has all those Chess soldiers and now as king all those soldiers and knights with Hawk logos, and Kentis comes with 8813 Battle of the Pass, which has the Hero Knights who share his dark forest green colors.

This "Lion Kingdom" and it's colorful baronies tend to represent the western regions of a vaguely Europish continent (only much smaller), basically where England, France and Spain find themselves (just without a channel between them).

With the Forestmen I didn't feel the need to derivate from their original concept, so they're literally a Robin Hood-esque band out of the Lion Kingdom (which works out pretty easily, since in Lego there are Crusaders and a few guys with crowns to bicker over the throne).

Then there are the Dark Nations.

Vikings are from the northeast of said Europe-like continent, along the coasts.

The Black Falcons are located somewhat parallel to Portugal along a coast west of the Lion Kingdom, and I tend to think of them as ship builders who compete for ocean dominance with Jayko or the Vikings.

Black Knights are nomadic, their former empire has crumbled after the assassination of their monarch (hence the "Black Monarch's Ghost"), so they travel around like hired muscle, very "Ronin" like, working as paid enforcers. The former center of their empire is for all intensive purposes where you'd find Belgium.

The Wolfpack are actually from the various highlands that Danju hails from. Wolves, dark moors, highlands ... bands of killers and hitmen in a realm known for being crafty. Danju's realm is very MacBethian to me so the Wolfpack fit right in there.

The Dark Forest roughly equates with Germany's southwestern black forests, so that's where my Dark Forest "thieves guild" resides. To fit in with the kind of "dark" theme of that area, nearby Switzerland and the alps are where the Fright Knights would operate out of. You could probably kind of see a little bit of southern "old Roman" appearance in their armor because of their proximity to what would be Italy.

The Bull Knights roam Germany, the Czech Republic area and Poland as nomads, pretty much how the Huns did during the last throws of the Roman Empire. They're adapting to the new styles of armor and warfare and borrow a lot of armor and weaponry but they're still clinging to the nomad lifestyle.

Nobody knows where Dragon Masters come from, just that they are the most elite mages and cavalrymen around (You have to be elite to control dragons). They are seen all around though, providing various helpful services like transportation and magic. Their fortress (which sure, is called Fire Breathing Fortress but is much grander than the actual Lego set, is located in what equates to be the very much free and glorious state of Wales. Welsh pride!

Vladek's Shadow Knights are traitors to the Lion Empire, so I imagine they took up residence after betraying their king back in the first crusade or something like that. They still live far to the east, possibly in Romania.

Dracus and the Rogue Knights are from the Black Sea region as well, mercenaries who I use like Russia used the Bulgars for hired help.

Ninjas and all their various aspects (Samurai, Bandit Warlords) are from a Japan-like island. Luckily because the Lego Old World isn't as massive as the real life one, there's always been a lot more travel between the Far East and Europe like areas.

I think that covers everything I have so far. I haven't had a chance to purchase the parts to make Moors or Arabs, Mongols or Chinese analogies yet. And I need a LOT more civilians and peasants to use wherever and whenever.
