Mechaton

I was listening to a gaming podcast today (Sons of Kryos rocks!) and they started talking about a game they played at a game conference that they really liked...

It's a mecha battle game using LEGOs! Has anyone ever heard of that? Sounds interesting to me, despite my preference for all things castle (just started playing brikwars  )

I haven't been able to really find a website, so I thought I would ask if anyone knew of it. Here are some pics I saw on a google search though...

On a side note, I wasn't sure which forum to put this in because it is gaming, but it's also not castle... if another mod/admin would like to move it, please do.

This looks like a lot of fun. I wouldn't need a ton of parts for a big mech (or three ), and some of the ones in that big picture looked simple enough that even a Castle head like me could build and play there.

I was able to find some links on brikwars.com. Mechaton's home is a place called Lumpley Games. I'm not quite clear on what actually has to be bought for the game, but there's a bunch of links here with some rules and stuff. Looks interesting. :)

that looks like a lot of fun. ive played it a couple of times with my friends who own all the sci-fi type legos, and it was pretty fun. got kinda of boring after the 12th game (though).

I heard a podcast the other day in which the creator of Mechaton was interviewed... turns out he actually creates games and sells them for cash, and Mechaton was one that he made when he was a kid, with his kid brother. It seems to have some sort of cult following now, which is just the kind of thing I need to hear to get interested in it. :D

Thanks for the links Enigma, I hadn't seen these pages before... delicious stuff.

As you noted, one of the glorious things about this is that the mechs are simple enough to build, and small enough so that anyone can build them (despite LEGO collection size).
