"You there!" said Huagon in his hoarse voice.

"M-me?"

"Yes, you!"

"W-what do y-you w-w-want?"

"A boat! I need a ride across the sea to the kingdom of the Black Falcons."

"Y-you could t-try h-him over there."

So Huagon went over to a man on the dock, next to a large ship. It looked like a very good ship to get him to where he needed to go.

"You."

"Whatta you want?"

"A ride to the kingdom of the Black Falcons."

"Well... It'll be costin' you a bit."

"How much?"

"Fifty pieces 'o gold."

"Twenty-five."

"Fifty."

"Thirty."

"Forty."

"Ok, I can go for forty."

So Huagon had a ride to the Black Falcons. They left in one hour, so Huagon was making good time. The Bat Lord would be pleased.

Lord eragon was home. there were problems with the wolfpack, so all of the dragon knights left for home. he was left with 250 men, which really wasnt enough to do anything, so he went home. he sat by a river, calmly listening to the conversations of fish. he heard a rustle behind him in the bushes. it was the black knight princess, Alex. her long brown hair cascaded down her back. she wore a white dress, simple yet stunningly beautiful. he had always loved her, but never had the coruage to say. Instead, they were simply friends. "My lady", he said, bowing. she smiled, "Hello Lord Eragon." she touched his shoulder lightly. "talking to the fish again?", "aye" he said. "what do you talk about?" . "the most amazing assortment of topics. it would take me hours to tell you everything." "I would love to hear some time" ,she said smiling. would you care to accompany me?" "I would love to, my lady." he said, trying not to sound overexcited.

As the boat came into the harbor men began unloading the ship of it's goods. Silently a lone stowaway made his way to land. Slipping past the throngs of people purchasing items from food to other extravagant wares.
Crouching in an alley way he called out in whisper,
"Drusilia!",
soon after a small black cat crawled out of the alley.
"We've made it without being detected. Might as well study for a short time.", he said as he pulled out his book and began to read the texts.

The fall season, once was warm with colorful beauty, now began to get cold, with a bitter wind and frost at Cair Rieune. Sir Racus led his men with iron tipped spears out of a brick build barracks into the cold whether of fall, the vaulting skies ruling the heavens. He feet, shod in steel coating of armor. The lower part of the castle was the most quiet these days. No one had left the fortification for one-hundred years. Ever since the raids on trade caravan had begun, the King ruled that no civilian was ever aloud outside of the castle gates.

At first, the people did not like this new ruling, but overtime, they adjusted to it. There were still farms outside the walls, but only soldiers actually did the farm work. Around the fall time, the third regiment took their spears, and their horses, and marched out to collect winter vegetables. The earlier foods like tomatoes and corn had already been brought into the castle warehouses and stored up for the winter. Every time this happened, the soldiers going out to gather food, they would be attacked, and many of them wounded by an arrow shot in the right place, or a well planted blow from a bronze blade. These men today knew their fate, and knew that this was the last harvest. That meant many of them would be wounded, or possibly killed.

Putting his book away, Virlym stood up. Drusilia was gone so he decided to take a look around the town. As he stood he heard two armed guards speak as they passed by the alley.
"...And so the Black Falcons have been searching for this ancient forest castle. It's supposed to be filled with all sorts of treasure and magic stuff..."
It was that one word that caused Virlym to start listening in. 'Treasure'. He followed the guards to hear more, but learned very little.
"I should pay these 'Black Falcons' a visit." he mumbled to himself as he started walking through the streets. He found a map that gave him directions and he was able to steal some food. Soon he would be on his way to the territory of the Black Falcons.

Adrian sat up from his post, looking out towards the village, another scout was on his way, ready to take his place as a night watch.

Eager to head back into town, he gathered his things and made his way down the ladder, meeting the nightwatch at the bottom. The two quietly nodded to eachother, exchanging no words as they passed.

"Say, Adrian." Said the night watch as he got about halfway up the ladder.

"Yes?"

"Do you think the rumors are true?" He started. "I mean, do you believe the legendary Castle Stoneworthy could truly be in our very own territory?"

"Not sure.. I myself would find it hard to believe, what with all us scouts always running about the forests. You would think one of us would have run across it by now."

The night watch then looked down to the ground, thinking for a moment.
"True." He said, "Perhaps that's all it is.."

"A legend, you mean?" Asked Adrian.

The night watch then only nodded, and started again to climb up the ladder.

On his way back into the village, Adrian played that thought through his mind several times..
"..It just couldn't be a myth. So many seek it, it must be real. I just hope.. Hope it doesn't fall into the wrong hands.."

They had been walking through the castle for a long time. Occasionaly having to duck around a corner to avoid groups of goblins. So far they remained unseen.
"Are you sure you know where we are going? We have been walking for a long time now."
"Yes we are almost there."
They continuied walking for a few min. then they finally arrived in the dungeons. Strider looked around there were hundreds of cells.
"So were should we start."
"Over here this is the one." replied The Black Ranger.
"They had brought a few "tools" to open the door."
First Strider drilled a hole in the door and looked through. He was there! Then came the hard part. Opening the door and escaping. They grabed a big hammer and an axe and started trying to break through the lock. It was a big lock but eventually the made a big dent in it. Then they got a plier and ripped of the lock. Then a peice of the lock went flying through -the air and landed outside the guard post with a loud banging sound. There was no time to wastethey yanked open the door and tossed Tyler a sword. Instantley he new they were in trouble. The guard door opened and 3 goblins came out swords drawn they lunged at they three mysterious intruders but were no match for the three rangers. The rangers took down the three goblins and took there keys. Perhaps there were more rangers in here. After much serching they found 10 more ranger that had been captured. They had to find a way out quick. There was still the aqueduct but there was no way they could all make it up stream and out. Then they heard footsteps and voices aproaching! The next shift was coming to guard. Once the guards saw the rangers they ran back to call in reinforcments. They had to find a way out and fast.
"Black Ranger do you know a way out of here."
"Yea follow me" (I'll let you finish this."

"Black Ranger do you know a way out of here?"
"Yes, follow me..."
They ran down several corridors, with goblins were coming after them. After several minutes of running they ducked into a side passage. the goblins raced by, unaware of the rangers. As soon as they were gone the Black Ranger led the group down another series of passages and finally to a great gate inbedded in the rock. The Black Ranger knocked. No answer. So again he knoked.
"Wha' do ya wan'?!" a samll hole opened and an eye was gazing at them.
"Rangers. We need help. The goblins are after us." Strider explained.
"Hmmm.... Come in..." a small door opened and the rangers walked in to find 20 dwarves armed and ready.
"Hurr'!" the dwarf said.
They walked with the guards and soon came to the center of the dwarf area. The king dwarf came to greet them.
"Welcome to my mountain. What brings 13 rangers to my thrown?" the king asked.
"The Crown king is heading for war. But Strider's son.' The Black Ranger gestured at the pair. "was cpatured by goblins, so we went to rescue him. Then we found another ten and I led them to you. We only need to stay awhile to get some rest then we will be on our way."
"Hmmm..." the king thought for a moment. "When you leave take some of my dwarves. They can aid the king in his fight. My advisor will show you to the human sized rooms."
They rangers followed a dwarf into a cavern that was decorated to look like a living room. with passages leading to bedrooms. The rangers broke up into threes. (There only being five rooms) and the Black ranger was left with one for himself. But he sat in the main room and gazed at the fire. His knife in his left hand, and his right on the hilt of his sword.

D3 (1 month later)

lord eragon was very happy. over the previous month, he had talked to the black knight king, and he and princess alex were to be married next spring. she seemed quite happy at the idea as well. as a wedding gift, the king gave him a new suit of armor. it was featherlight as well, and even harder to penetrate. he recieved a shield with the family crest, and a helmet with white dragon plumes, the highest honor a knight can ever recieve. he spent much of his time with her, and that was what he was doing when lord rynir rode up to him one day. Eragon said, "rynir, what are you doing here today? welcome to the land of the black monarchs!"

rynir said gravely, "we are being attacked frequently by the kk2s. we have heard of a new kk2 commander, and i require your aid to defend our territory."

"so i shall then, to honor our agreement my friend." said eragon

eragon kissed alex goodbye, and then went to get his armor. he donned it, still amazed at its light weight. then, he mounted dragonspride and him and lord rynir departed with 150 men.

It had been almost two weeks since BeDar had accepted the job offer from the courier. During those two weeks, the army had marched across the kingdom and were nearing the border of the Crown Kingdom.

Looking over his shoulder, BeDar saw the army trailing behind him. The army now numbered 125, including officers. Somehow, the men had befriended local youths and convinced them to pick up the life of a mercenary. Once BeDar found out that this was occuring, he refused to recruit anymore than ten lads from any one village so as to avoid depriving the villages of their youthful workers.

"Bulor!" BeDar yelled towards his friend as Bulor approached from down the line. BeDar waited for Bulor on his new horse.

In the last port town, Bulor had managed to buy a total of thrity horses from a desperate horse trader for only twenty silver studs each. BeDar had gotten first pick from the lot and had chosen a bay with a streak of white in it's mane and tail. BeDar had chosen to name the horse Gelforth, after a childhood friend of his.

Bulor rode up on a spirited charger. The man looked the part of a fearsome knight mounted on his trusty steed.....until his "trusty steed" bucked and forcibly dismounted him. Bulor hit the ground with a metallic clang and rolled over onto his back. The look of indignation on Bulors face was more than enough to make BeDar burst out in fits of laughter. Bulor chuckled and stood up. Standing on the ground, Bulor could easily reach BeDar's head with just his hand.

Settling himself down, BeDar said, "We're nearly caught up with the King and his forces. We should be hearing some news from the King within the next few days so-" BeDar cut himself off as he heard a ruckas from the head of the column.

"Now what?" Bulor muttered, disgruntedly rubbing his sore rear end.

Bulors question was soon answered when a dishevled soldier, wearing the uniform of a Crown soldier, was carried through the ranks of soldiers. BeDar leaned towards the trumpeter riding at his side and said, "Give the order to halt and set up camp."

"Yes sir." The young lad had recently joined the army and had taken to the role of trumpeter like a dog to a bone. A series of short, sharp toots on the horn, and the entire army halted and immediatly set about their assigned duties. Within half an hour, the camp was set up in a neat orderly fashion, with the tents lined up in neat, straight rows and the horses picketed near a trickling stream.

BeDar dismounted and handed the reins to the trumpeter. "Thank you...er"

"Treaver, sir! Treaver Bulot!" The lad beamed down from his own horse at his superior.

"Thank you Treaver. you did a good job." BeDar gave the boy a friendly smile and walked off to find the medical tent. 'From the look of the soldier the men had brought into camp, he should be in the medic's care,' BeDar thought to himself. Bulor followed BeDar, since he also had some questions for the soldier.

Оксана was brimming with pride. She had passed her final test and her magical abilities were at last strong enough to free her beloved husband from his enchanted prison. But she would need materials, and a way to journey to the top of the tower in which Vladek was held. She sighed, took a deep breath and set out for the nearest tavern looking for some goblin mercenaries willing to guard her in her journey.

Alexander held tight around the thieve's arm, pulling him away from the maiden and forcing him against the nearest wall.

"Stealling from a lady?!" He said forcefully. "Not on my watch!"

Shaken, the thief stood there, still clenching the purse in his hands.

"Give it up, or you shall pay with your very blood!"

"..Very well." Said the thief with a grin, as he handed over the purse.
Alexander then turned to the lady and gave back to her her handbag.

"There you are, madam." Said the Knight kindly.

Turning back to the burgler, he was landed with a hard punch to the stomache, causing him to double over in pain.

Taking advantage of his cheap shot, the thief freed his hand and ran down the street.
The woman shouted, catching the attention of a nearby guard, who quickly made after the thief, catching him in just seconds.

"Take it easy, Sir." He said to Alexander. "I'll bring this one in for you."

"Good." Started the knight, "I need a drink."

And so as the guard escorted the criminal to the dungeons, Alexander made his way to the Nears Inn..

..Once inside, he took a seat at the bar to order a drink. As he sat there with his ale, Alex watched an old man in the back of the room. He was hunched down in his seat and acted somewhat uneasy, keeping his sights on a party of guards at a table across the room.

The Bat Lord had waited DAYS for the Ghost's return! He sat atop the Tower in the foggy stone mountians...
"Where is that blasted wraith?! I sent him in good faith, and what does he do? Betrays me!!! I'll find that Necromancer and raise 'im from the dead, then...... I'll kill 'im again!!! Harold!"
Harold shambled up the stairs in a half hearted hurry.
"Aye Lord?"
"Gim'e a 'nother ale"
"Are you should M'Lord?"
"Coarse I should!" The Bat Lord jumped up on tipsy legs.
"Keeps a second-rate *hic -rate villian like me on me toes!"
"Whatever you say... :roll: "

~~~~~~~
Later
After a few more ales the Bat Lord finally passed out. Only to be awoken by a voice...
"Lord? Ay, wake up!"
"Shmuff... whhhyyyy?....."
"I gawt a message for you!"
"Huhhh? *groan, I don't believe you!"
"C'mon!"
The Bat Lord finally realized who it was and sat bolt up, to his regret...
"Ow, my head!"
"Whot's the matter with you?"
"Ohhhh......"
"Anyway, I'm back from Vladek's place! And his message, in reply to your offer, is this, 'Tempting, but yer a nitwit.'"
The Bat Lord stared with a hungover glare, "That's it?!"
"Aye that's wot ee said." At this the Ghost started to hold back chuckles.
"That's it?!!! A nitwit?! The Nerve! I'll rip out his scorpion inerds!"
At that, the Ghost started cackling.
Gerodal had been staying at the inn for a few days now. Sadly, so had the Black Knights. Gerodal had been lucky that they hadn't tried to strike up a conversation with him. If they had, it would have quickly changed to a duel. Not that Gerodal couldn't hold his own in a fight, it was just that he didn't want to attract attention to himself.
Gerodal was sitting in his usual seat in the corner of the room when a Falconian guard walked through the door. The guard was muttering about thieves and dirty tricks as he walked over to the bar. Gerodal watched the new arrival with a small amount of interest. The only thought Gerodal gave towards the guard was, 'Hope he wasn't in my army.' This thought struck Gerodal as an odd one. Why would he think that? 'Maybe I've had to much ale,' Gerodal thought regretfully. Looking into his mug, Gerodal saw that it was empty. Waving the empty mug at the bar tender, Gerodal motioned for a refill.
"You've already had four mugs, Gerodal. That's quite enough for one day," the bar tender chastised the old man in the corner sternly.
The Black Knight guards perked up at the mention of the name 'Gerodal'. Looking around the near empty room, one of the guards spotted the old man sitting in the corner. "Oi, there 'e is!" the guard bellowed. The men all charged towards Gerodal from across the room.
Drawing his sword, Gerodal picked up a chair and was just about to throw it when the bar tender pulled a crossbow from under the bar and pointed it at one of the Black Knights. "I won't have any brawls in my inn!" the bar tender/inn keeper bellowed at the top of his lungs. The Black Knights quickly sheathed their swords and returned to their table, muttering about traitors and murderers.
Gerodal sat back down into his seat but kept his sword on the table. The inn keeper approached Gerodal with a pitcher of ale. "On the house, for the trouble." Gerodal nodded his thanks and poured himself another mug.
Gerodal had just started to drink from his mug, when a clatter of a chair being moved and the thump of a person dropping into a chair drew his attention to the other person now sitting at his table. It was the Falconian guard. "What do you want, youngun?" Gerodal asked, taking a large gulp from his drink.
Having purchased a horse with some of the few gold pieces he had with him Virlym was now getting close to Black Falcon territory. In the distance more and more trees began appearing which he knew must be near the Forestman territory.
As he rode he began to grow weary. Out of his small pack he pulled an apple he had snatched off a food stand that was not being watched. Drusilia, his cat, was sitting on his lap trying to rest against the rocking of the horse that they road.
After throwing the apple core over his shoulder Virlym sent his horse into a quick gallop as he thought he saw off in the distance a village. 'Soon, he thought, soon he would be in the territory of the Black Falcons.'
