"Get off me!" Sheath screamed as he was dragged onto a ship's deck. The galley had boarded and searched Sheath's ship already, they were taking Sheath himself as a prisoner.

"Get your filthy hands off me already!" he called out again. The two men grabbing him wouldn't listen as they opened the metal door to the jail cell. Sheath was forced into the cell and fell hard on his face. He tasted blood in his mouth.

He could barely hear the captain on the ship's deck above "Set a course for the near Forestmen shores. We'll transport him overland to the stronghold." Sheath thought to himself for a moment about that. Were they going to kill him? He only let himself get captured to get to the Hemlock stronghold, not die trying. But he continued to listen.

"He is a murderer like any other. There is only one punishment for such a crime." the captain told sombody else in his cabin. "He will be hanged at Hemlock stronghold."

Sheath sat in a prisoner cart, thinking. He wondered about what would happen in the next few hours, if it was worth even trying to escape. He could see the fortress in the trees up ahead. But the cart didn't go on the main trail towards the fortress. It took a small path out deeper into the woods, towards the gallows. Then the cart stopped, and several men with swords opened the door. Sheath walked under their guard to the wooden stairs. An executioner took Sheath to a noose and slipped the rope around his neck, then bound his hands and feet.

"By order of King Kath you are to be hanged on arrival." read a man from a scroll "There will be no trial or formal hanging ceremony." Sheath took a deep breath and twisted his wrists. He could almost undo the bind. Another twist almost freed his left hand. He continued to work at the knot. He then saw a horse come riding down the path. There were several escorts flanking him. The man came into view. It was Radjar Kath himself. He rode to a stop near Sheath and looked at him.

Kath yelled out "Spare this man!" The executioner and company looked confused.

"Sire, you must understand...this man is a convicted murderer..." the executioner said.

"He is no murderer. He is a fighter. And a darn good one too." Said Kath.

L-7 Hemlock Outskirts.

"SHEATH is a legendary warrior," said
Radjar eloquently, "I very much respect though some of his methods are... questionable. But we need as much help as we can get, and it will be a hard, long struggle to fight our way to Three Daggers Spire. Sheath, will you join us?"
"Of course," snapped Sheath, "Why else would I be here!"
Just then Fraun approached.
"Sir, the enemy is on the move. Baron DeCanis escaped with some of his commanders last night and have regrouped with his forces and another force as well."
"What force do you speak of?"
"Sir, the vassal of the Shogun, Daimyo Shikiku Matasuiji, lord of the Shingoru, has a qaurrel with many of your allied Ninja daimyo, sir. He believes you are harboring them. The samurai and ninja number by two thousand, sir."
"Megabloks- Where is Trevelayn?"
"Tending to his men, sir."
"Order him to get his troops together. I am promoting you officially to Brigadier General, Fraun.Go now, and stop them."
"Alright, King, you think this should be my first assignment?" Shetah asked intently.
"Oh no, Sheath, I have another mission for you..."
"Alright Kif, let's show these freaks what a bloated, runaway military budget can do"

After gathering his men, And Isaac’s. The army departed 2000 strong. Fraun new they were most likely outnumbered and would need too pin in the opposing army. He sent half his force under the command of Isaac to the right of the vanguard so as to pin in the Samurai and Wolfpack army. They were nearing the glade where the scouts said the Army had set up it’s camp. Fraun was giving for Isaac’s force enough time to get around to the other side till attacking he could see the enemy encampment now. Isaac’s men must have gotten to the other side by now. He yelled for his men to converge on the camp. The battle had begun. Isaac and his converged on one side of the encampment and Fraun’s men on the other. But they had underestimated Decanis and his men. Samurai came down and smashed against the backside of Fraun’s force while Wolfpack troops on Isaac’s force. Fraun was trapped.

Barbod slamed his empty mug onto the table. He rose from the chair and exited the door, looking up the road to the east. His freinds had gone this way. He then took a glance to the path going north-east. Towards the kingdom of the falcons. The path didn't split for about a day's journy. He had time to decide. He bagan his walk.
If my freinds wanted to be found, they would have made themselves present. Mabie it is fate we got seperated. Fate I go it my own.
Barbod shook his head free of these feelings.
If I had never met them, That assassin would have killed me by now. I must find them.
The thoughts battled in his head for over an hour, untill he reaced the turningpoint in the road. He had made his choice.

The two figures shifted. One stood up and approached Bjarn slowly, raising an long, lop-sided object for protection. Bjarn loosened his bow and replaced the arrow.

"I mean no harm." he assured.

The figure lowered it's weapon and straighted. "Then you are welcome, Bjarn of the Forestmen. I am Dale, and wandering and bard."

Bjarn shook the hand of Dale and nodded. "Who is your companion?"

Dale's eye's softened. "She is called Shainya, and she is the sole remainer resident of Olgendale. I fear she is wounded greatly, both in mind and body. I have no skill in the art of healing and have been unable to aid her. Might you help?"

"I too have little skill at healing, but I will see what I can do."

Bjarn approached Shainya carefully. She was once again asleep, and was not aware of his presence. Bjarn quietly examined her while Dale consentraited on starting a fire.

I wish Reno was here... thought Bjarn, Dreadful burns, broken bones...this poor girl is a mess.

Bjarn straightened and walked over to Dale.

"Well?" Dale asked, "Can you help her?"

"I can set her broken bones and try to cool her fever, but there is nothing I can do about her many burns. We need to get her to a real healer, and fast."

Samurai Showdown

Post by Daimyo »

Grid: K-7 Loc: Dark Forest Lines

THE small Forestmen hamlet was bustling with troops armed to the teeth. The samurai camp lay amassed over the other side of the ridge. Fraun had recovered, though still a bit weak. Trevelayn peered out the window of the small cottage being used as a command post.
"Any sign of aggression?" inquired Fraun.
"No, none at all. A few riders headed this way though-"
Trevelayn looked closer.
"It's DeCanis and Matsuiji... they're heading here fast..."
"I'll get Isaac. Get some men ready."
"Aye!"

Dordrot and Isaac ran in, weapons brandished. The riders rode in unstopped, jumped off their steeds, and walked towards the cottage. There were ten of them, the two leaders and eight samurai.
"What do you want?" shouted Trevelayn, moving cautiously.
"We want to speak with your leaders, peon!" spat DeCanis.
"You've got a lot 'o guts comin' oot 'ere, lads!" threatened Isaac, ripping out his axe and charging him. The Baron blocked his blow. the group fingered their weapons nervously.
"That's a funny josh, DeCanis, ye dog! Now tell me what yer really here fer!" snapped Trevelayn sarcastically.
"I've had about enough of your games, mercenary swine!"
"Come get ma, ye knave!"
DeCanis lunged at Trevelayn and Isaac brought his axe smashing down on the wooden stem of DeCanis' spiked mace. the weapon broke in two, and the Baron threw back his cape, grabbing for his sheathed broadsword. But Trevelayn's saber was quicker than the Baron's hand.
"Ah, ah a-ah. You wouldn't want to take your weapon out with a sword at yer neck, eh?"
They led them all into the cottage. Fraun's hand rested firmly on his sword hilt at his side.
"Come for negotiations?" he said.
"Call off your men," barked DeCanis.
"That depends if you call of yours. And your unconditional surrender."
"Megabloks."
The words dropped like a bomb in the one-room building as the samurai leaped into action. DeCanis took the distraction, ripping out his sword and deflecting Trevelayn's saber, sending the mercenary tumbling onto the floor. Isaac caught a samurai in the gut, his axe swooping in with fluidic motion. A samurai leaped at Fraun, who sprang into the air and delivered a jaw-crushing kick to the warrior, who smacked into the wall. Matsuiji dashed towards Dordrot, who had just killed a samurai, bashed him in the skull with his katana hilt and knocked him out cold. Isaac came behind him, lopping off his arm. DeCanis leaped for the down Trevelayn, and sparks flew as Fraun stopped the blow in midair. A samurai ran at Fraun from behind.
"Fraun!" warned Isaac.
Fraun turned and opened the samurai from shoulder to hip. Fraun gasped. Matsuiji lunged with his good arm and a silver katana blade sprouted from Isaac's chest. The great warrior coughed blood and died. Trevelayn's knife found the open Matsuiji an easy hit. The throw was perfect for disembowelment, landing squarely in the Daimyo's stomach. Trevelayn hacked another samurai as Baron DeCanis rose up, sword raised and poised to smash Fraun's skull. The ranger turned just in time, DeCanis' blade making a loud THWACK! as the flat end crashed into Fraun's face. Unconsious, he fell to the ground, when DeCanis turned. His broadsword smashed Trev's saber, but the mercenary dodged the next blow and leaped for the broken end of the mace. Fraun groaned and the Baron turned. when he turned back, the last thing he saw was the spiked head of his own mace zooming straight at him.

Grid: L-8
Location: Entering Wolfpack Territory

Sheath dove for cover behind a tall oak tree as arrows flew from all around.

“A trap…magabloks!” he yelled. He was caught in an ambush, at the Wolfpack borders. His mission was given to him by King Kath himself: Get into Wolfpack Territory and find a breach in their guard for Kath’s army to come through and crush the Wolfpack. But it all could end here, as the arrows flew past his makeshift-hiding place. Looking up the tree, he scouted out a path of climbable branches. Climbing, after all, was one of his specialties. He leapt up the branches like a monkey, all of his limbs working to balance his body. He could see down upon the archers now, they were low in the bushes and still thought he was at the base of the tree. Sheath stopped at a large branch and pulled his crossbow from his back. A bolt from his quiver went into the groove, and a split second later, a man in chainmail armor fell dead, the bolt went into his heart. Sheath quickly reloaded and aimed his weapon. Another Wolfpack guard went down as the others looked around to try and find him. The guard captain was the next to be shot down. The soldiers in his guard unit ran for cover as yet another man was killed by Sheath’s deadly accuracy. He had driven off the ambush. But there was more to be done before his mission was over. He hopped from tree to tree and eventually set his eyes on the grand border fortress of Siastrahkan. It would be rough going from here on in.

Grid: M-7 Loc: Village of Dernhal, Eastern Front.

THE rain began to pour down as the Forestmen rangers marched through ankle-deep mud in single file. The black and foreboding forest opened up to reveal open land and the tudor village of Dernhal, a hamlet on the eastern frontier, ancient battlefield. To the northwest lay a graveyard and a crypt.
"I don't like this place, Fraun. It reeks of death and evil." shuddered Dordrot.
"Nonsense, ancient superstitions. I've fought all o'er the world, and this little hamlet is surely not cursed." replied Trevelayn.
Fraun rode calmly, his bow tucked tightly under his shoulder. His lincoln green attire was stained dirt brown with mud.
"Just keep moving. If we just keep on, we'll be out of here in no time."
"Yah, out of the fryin' pan and inta the fire, more like it. We get past these barrows and next thing ya know, the Wolfpack are all 'round." warned Trevelayn.
"Point taken," replied Fraun.
The troop moved on until they were in the main square. the place looked deserted.

The news arrived quickly of the battle, and as it was delivered you could feel the moral drop in the room. "There is no way that you can supply us with troops now." Willem said. "Graygon and myself will have to go at this on our own, we will find help as we go." "The truce between us will be restored once I have Defoe's head in my hand." "Then we can work out our differences." Willem added. I cannot allow you to go to your death without any help from me at all. After all if you succeed then that benefits me as well." Radjar said. "How can you spare any men? They are going to be knocking on the door soon, and you need all you can to stop their advancing." Graygon bursting into the conversation...

"NO!" yelled Radjar. "You leave our borders and soon enough you will be trophy corpses hanging at the gates of Daggerfall. As of now I have two forces heading deep into Wolfpack lands intending to overstretch the Wolfpack army in order for us to make a proper assault. It will be a long, hard battle... The Wolfpack will put up a fight. Gereld, your plan."
Vos stepped up to the table.
"While our two seperate armies stretch out the Wolfpack defenses overland, we will head out to seige the Governor's main stronghold in Siastrahkan. Once that is done, we clean up any other bits of resistance within this continent. Then we head overseas to our territory on the Fell Isle. We attack Daggerfall Spire there... And nab Defoe."
"Alright then," chimed in Willem, "When do we start?"

Location: Dernhal Square.

THE place looked deserted. The smell of death permeated the air all around, skulls littered the ground, the streets broken, and the houses overgrown with weeds.
"Perhaps Dordrot was right... This place is cursed." said Trevelayn.
A ranger picked up a skull and looked at it fearfully. Suddenly the ground shook. Bleached-white skeletal arms poked out of the ground, grabbing for the surface and pulling armored bodies out of the earth. The rangers unsheathed their swords and gathered in a circular formation. A skeleton tugged on the end of Dordrot's green cloak and with a hard blow he knocked it out. With that, the skeletons charged the group. The rangers crashed into the skeleton force and killed them all. Soon the battle was over, only a handful of Rangers dead.
"Sir, there is a Wolfpack army blocking the pass to Siastrahkan. We have not enough men to head through there."
"Alright. I have an idea," pondered Fraun. "The crypt!"
He pointed to a large stone mausoleum to the northwest.
"There should be a tunnel that lead out the other side in that crypt. We'll go in there."
"Alrighty then? What are we waitin' for?" yelled Trev.

DARK clouds gathered as Dordrot and Fraun pushed away the runic door to the crypt and peered inside. Almost right in time a crack of thunder rumbled on the horizon and rain began to pour down on the rangers. Hodge looked up warily.
"I guess we're leavin' just in time mates."
Fraun lit a torch, and the group of twentysomething headed inside. Some of the walls were carved with Mephistaran designs, others held long-dead skeletons mouldering in tiny catacombs. Cobwebs hung around the long corridor and the farther they went the colder it became, the more potent the stench. Fianlly the hallway ended at a cold metal wall covered in dust and cobwebs. Trevelayn blew the mess away to reveal a brass symbol, a sinister-looking silver skull with one eye peering from it. Almost immediately some of the group shot back with fear, but Trevelayn only looked at them bitterly.
"What er ye afraid of, ye cowerds?" he complained.
Fraun stepped forward to anylize the runes on the macabre emblem.
"Hmmm. Looks like ancient Nehimar. Probably a gravesite for a band of Necromancers who got stranded up here."
The rangers looked about the tomb.
"We Forestmen are superstitous," noted Hodge. "Don't mind 'em."
Fraun read the inscriptions more intimately.
"Whomsoever disturbs the dead... The Dead will disturb you. So unless you wish an untimely doom... Turn back." he grimly added. Fraun and Trevelayn looked at eachother eagerly and both threw open the vault. Immediately the torch flickered out in the cold, oxygen depleted air. Fraun scrambled in the darkness to light it again. When he did, he immediately wished he hadn't.
"Fraun... I think we know what happened to the villagers..."
Two red-eyed vampires stood grinning evilly, their razor-sharp fangs glowing ivory in the evil crypt.
"Chodan help us..." pleaded Trevelayn as he rammed his saber into the black heart of one vile creature, and out he other end. Black blood, like bile, issued forth from the night-creeper, and the next leaped onto a ranger, biting into his neck. The elite screamed as the Vampire gorged itself on human blood. The men scrambled about, yelling and shouting, stabbing at it with their blades. Hodge tossed his cleaver, and the Vampire fell over, wounded but hardly dead, with the instrument sticking form its back. The ranger fell over as well, pale and stiff, his neck scarred. He was dead.
"Megabloksit, Fraun, we should have never come here!" cursed Trevelayn.
"You were the one so eager to go," shot back Dordrot.
"Well, we could've at least have died honorably fighting the Wolfpack!" yelled Trev, "Now we get to rot and moulder in some, God-forsaken tomb, surrounded by bloody vampires and mutilaed corpses!"
The room was domed, and a statue of some evil four-armed god stood triumphant over the next doorway, brandishing a war axe in one hand and holding the severed heads of Chodan, Heliopa, and Ichtyess in it's three others.
"Mephistar... God of Death and Evil. Let's keep on. We don't want to waste time."

"I know of one..." Bjarn said quietly.
