Ancient Battles Deluxe

Post by J_MAN »

I don't know how many people here play wargames, but I thought I could post this for any of you who may be interested.

Ancient Battles Deluxe is a tactical wargame in which two players battle for supremacy over the battle field. There are a total of 8 different scenarios in the base game ranging from Kadesh in 1288 BC all the way to Bannockburn in 1314 AD. There are also four expansions you can get that include more units, maps, and scenarios. I purchased the base game and all the expansion, but haven't had a chance to play all of the scenarios. However, I have played the first 3 and they have been really fun. Here are a couple of links so you can learn more about the game.

The first link is to the BGG (BoardGameGeek) page and the second is the publisher/designers page.

Like a cross between D&D and Warhammer?
Trevor

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Not really, D&D is a role playing game (as far as I know, I've never had any interest in playing it) and Warhammer is a tabletop miniatures game (which cost way to much for me to play because of all the miniatures you need). Ancient Battles Deluxe is a tactical wargame, in which you really more on battlefield tactics than luck or the largest force. Also when buying a game like Warhammer you can keep adding to your collection of miniatures which can end up costing hundreds of dollars (which I would rather spend on legos :) ) Where as with Ancient Battles Deluxe, you only need the base game (about $30) to start playing and have the option of buying the four other expansions (about $16 each). I hope this helps answer your question. :)
