Re: Lands of Classic Castle - Discussion Thread
Haha, I did know that fact, but did you also know that while the Scots hated the English across the border , they would often marry each other, Purely beacsue due to all the thefts that went back and forth, they knew each other so well, they became almost friend like.
Yeah english schooling is'nt as bad as you thought.

Sure did. Thats why the Northern English were never truly disliked...unlike the southern English...those Cockney Goobers. jk. Although it was also common place for Scots to Marry into French families as well. Just ask ma femme.Hayden. wrote:Haha, I did know that fact, but did you also know that while the Scots hated the English across the border , they would often marry each other, Purely beacsue due to all the thefts that went back and forth, they knew each other so well, they became almost friend like.

Re: Lands of Classic Castle - Discussion Thread
Do you have Scottish ancestry then Mattias?
I would say that we should all now be thinking about adding more detail to the maps - we have an overview now we need to populate it!

They married the French because they to were Catholics, unlike the English who were protestant.
And do't go insulting us southerners, I'd have to take that personally

AUCK!!! PROTESTANTS!!! -Grabs Claymore- Dems FIGHTIN WORDS LADDY! WHAT DID YE SAY ABOUT ME MOTHER!
Actually, I'm Scottish in background and name...but then again I could claim many backgrounds through marriage's and such (Ukrainian, Russian, Hungarian, Italian, German, French, Czech etc). Also I studied British History, among many other histories. I had a fascination with the Jacobites for awhile.
On the Scottish side...my family was notorious through history of playing both sides during wars (We will send one army to fight for the English Crown and One for the Scottish Crown...that way, if one side wins we still win...also our troops won't fight each other). LOL

That is quite a history, I too could claim many backgrounds ,(Portuguese, Welsh, Irish and Indian) My name is welsh, or rather Gallic.
And no, I'm not a protestant, so put down that unsavoury cleaver.
I'm an avid studier of history, participially western Europe, 1100-1700AD, and am doing it in for a GCSE'and have some minor qualifications in it.

Re: Lands of Classic Castle - Discussion Thread
Detailed regional maps need to be completed by each faction. Links to the images are below. FO's, please post the map for your region in your faction threads and discuss among yourselves what goes where. For each region, we need the following:
Name of Capital City (location already shown)
Name/Location of 3 additional major cities (encampments/hideouts for Outlaws)
Name/Location of 5-8 major landmarks/geographical features.
Once you've decided, the FO should tag his respective region's image with the information in the Flickr gallery. From there, I'll add the information to the map draft, and we'll open up a final map submission/discussion thread similar to the one we did for the draft map.
Any questions, let me know.
Thanks!

Re: Lands of Classic Castle - Discussion Thread
King's castle location has yet to be determined.
Also, please refrain from quoting if you are replying to the most recent post. Also, if quoting is necessary, you only need to quote the part of it that is relevant to your question. No need to quote a whole post if you are only asking about one or two things from it

Re: Lands of Classic Castle - Discussion Thread
Thanks AK_Brickster...maybe the King's Castle/City should be located in a neutral zone.

Re: Lands of Classic Castle - Discussion Thread
You do know that Scotland was a stronghold of the reformation? As in they were extremely protestant, the exact opposite to the french? John Knox is one of the great leaders of the reformation and Scotland was a safe haven for all the protestants refugees from IrelandHayden. wrote:They married the French because they to were Catholics, unlike the English who were protestant.

Interesting as history can be, perhaps you could continue this discussion in the Medieval Life subforum?
