You can build and post pictures of as many men as you like, of course.

It's just very hard to keep things consistent if we start specifying how many men are stationed at an outpost or are in specific armies.

8) Cool...you had me worried for a bit there...

Also, in this instance, I agree with you 100% Wobnam. Considering the fact that armies move, shift, rotate out soldiers, etc etc and outposts are never stationed with the same garrison all the time. It would be futile to state numbers of ranks, armies, because they would never be accurate even in real life. :)

The idea of "Faction Recruiters" was proposed in one of the faction threads. IE, someone who officially goes around trying to get people to sign up to their specific faction of LCC.

Since something like that would affect the entire project, not just one faction, I felt I should bring up my concerns here in the general discussion to get some input.
I am opposed to the idea for a couple of reasons:

From a global perspective, it's probably best to just invite people to the LCC project as a whole, and let them choose their own faction based on what suits them best, instead of feeling like they're obligated to join the faction of the "recruiter". This gives people the option of building in the style that most interests them, which I think we can all agree is the best scenario possible.

Secondly, we want to make sure that the membership levels of the 4 factions stays sort of balanced (Which it has so far. Thanks, everyone!), so as not to give a huge advantage in contests, and faction-specific recruiters may throw that out of whack.

Ultimately, everyone should feel free to invite their friends to the LCC, but avoid pushing them to join a specific faction. :)

(Also if they are new to the CC site, be sure to direct them to read the TOS in addition to the LCC Info/FAQ thread. We don't want to make a lot of extra work for the Mods and Admins by flooding the forum with new members who don't know the proper posting rules, etiquette, etc :tasty: )

Feel free to discuss

I agree with AK, having faction recruiters would probably mess up the faction numbers and end up being more trouble than its worth.

Totally agree with AK. We'd better try to get other people enthusiast for LCC as a whole. I was persuaded to participate by a topic about LCC on the forum of my 'native' LUG, and I know I'm not the only one. I think this works better than using Fraction Recruiters.

Hmm, you propose some good point, but what is the harm in it?
Also, it could really help make it popular, especially if we keep it within the forum.

I think that I pretty clearly stated what the harm is in recruiting for one specific faction. Recruiting for the LCC project as a whole, I have no problem with and actually would encourage you to do so. I think that's probably a much better way to make the project popular than focusing on just one faction, anyway, since people will have all 4 factions to choose from. Everyone likes to have choices :)

Yeah I found out about this the exact same way WvdP did. And it was a topic that was about the LCC and a brief explanation about what was going on. I think that's good enough to get people excited.

And what happens when one faction's recruiter doesn't have the same time, resources or connections that another's does? That faction's membership starts to lag behind and they end up being at a big disadvantage when contests roll around. We worked very hard to make each faction desirable in different ways so that membership would stay balanced. Right now each faction is within a member or two of all the others, which is ideal. No reason to upset the boat when the current system is working so well.

I just don't see any advantage to having "faction recruiters" that is any better than just going out and inviting your friends to check out the project.

I agree that advertisement should be about the LCC as a whole instead of trying to get everyone interested in your particular faction.

It's important to remember that while the factions might be enemies in-game, and some friendly rivalry exist even between us members, none of the factions will benefit from the member count becoming uneven between factions, and no faction will benefit from having members that, given an unbiased choice, would go somewhere else.

If you want to increase the quality of LCC by getting new people interested, great. But let them pick their own faction.

I believe the only advantage of a faction recruiter would be that he could depict his minifig character dancing a 'verbunk', a traditional Hungarian army recruitment dance. Mmmh, Szatmári Verbunk... :D But as I think no-one has that even considered a possibility, I agree fully with AK, WvdP etc.

Just my two cents:

I think "advertising" for the LCC in general is the best idea. Recruiting for specific factions could cause chaos and spiralling numbers of threads or comments with no point. Also, people might get confused and think we are unorganised. We don't want people to believe that it's every man for himself in the LCC (which is only partly true).

I saw that AK_brickster awarded two free-build points, so I assume we can add free builds now? Since it wasn't really announced anyware.

-Yea I was thinking about the same of the free builds. But feel that it is strange that last week it was too early to start rewarding free builds and now its ok.
-Then the advertising thing, I feel too that the best thing is to not have official faction recruiters because it could give to wrong message and also other factions could/would get more members depending on the recruiter. LUG and forum advertising, spreading the word and showing of LCC mocs are great ways to get more members. Also Commitee members have you now been talking with CC admins about to get something on the frontpage, LCC logo and some moc or something that would be good advertise too :D
