Hey guys. I'm curious about the religions of the various factions. Is there a set pantheon of deites for the whole or Rowia, or does each faction have their own gods, or perhaps share some gods and have some different ones?

I was just curious because my CIC moc that I've built involves a shire to some sort of god of safe travel, and I would rather have a specific name for the god instead of just calling them a generic "god of safe travels".

Hey Pyro, first off, welcome :D

Secondly, I've actually written up something for this a while back and sent it to the KC, but never got anything back. And since I'm part of the Kings Council I'll talk to the guys, see what we're gonna do with this. Because I'm on the same page on this as you are, so If you have a little patience I'll talk it thru

Well we decided not to use official religions for Roawia, for it is a to sensitive point to have a formal religion, since most of our member are religious and could find it offensive.
I have however written stories for a few which one can use as a source or basis to get something started. You can find in the Unofficial Religions of Roawia Thread. I hope this answers your question!

Are the factions from new castle sets coming out this year going to be allocated to a particular faction by the King's Council?

http://www.brickset.com/browse/themes/? ... &year=2013

To me the blue and red would suggest Garheim & Loreos, but then the Lion and the wolf's head suggest Loreos and Outlaws, but then blue lions gets confusing, but I guess as long as Lenfald doesn't get one it's fine by me. :P

I'm not necessarily asking for a decision now, just will there be one made - or can I blow all my money on Hobbit and LotR - Thanks in advance.

Apologies, if this the the 10th time of asking, but I did search 2 threads for at least 7 minutes and that's a pretty good attention span for the MTV generation. :snore:

We haven't discussed it yet, and the emblems really don't quite fit the previously established stereotypes.

One possible solution is I've noticed that members don't always use the official shields, they use one that is a similar color. A good example would be that you use a bear as your symbol now. And it's cool! it makes things much more realistic. In medieval times, every family had their own heraldry! :)

Garheim would have some nobles with a lion as their heraldry, and Loreos could have a few knights with wolves... (Though, it looks like a ugly dragon to me. I guess we will find out.) ...in their heraldry. Yet the color coordination would be fine. I would vote that we leave it up to the individual. ;)

But I can run by the KC if you want me to. :)

Thanks Mark.

Might be an idea to make decision before they are released on sale, even if that decision is that they are factionless. Someone might invest in them and then find out they've got a better enemy army than their own army. :)

You might be right about the wolf being a dragon. But can't squint hard enough. Maybe wait until the high res pics come out before you make a decision then. :D

The "bad guys" emblem is indeed a dragon (albeit a really poor one).

My vote would be to leave these as "factionless" and just let people use them if it fits their color scheme.

To me, the "good guys" will work great as Garhims, and the "bad guys" seem to suit the outlaws, though they could also work as Loreesi troops with a bit of part-swapping to get rid of the heavy amount of black.

I'll be buying a few of the small army-builder set, and maybe will pick up a set with a dragon in it, but other than that, I'm more excited for the new LOTR sets, particularly now that Strongbad is pioneering his new acetone painting technique to switch elf ears over to yellow from fleshies. :eyebrows:

I would vote for leaving them factionless as well. I've found the new sets might be neat and all with the proper bardings for the new horses...but to be honest when I seen the release photos for the sets I was a bit disappointed in that direction for Lego. It would have been neat if they picked a different colour and emblem all together like say a different logo from the Lion and Crown they seem to have favoured for a long time.

May I make a suggestion to the 4 FOs? How about taking the "bad guys" from the new sets and keeping them together as a non-role-playing faction from an unmapped part of the world? They could be used as an invasion force when you want to provide some conflict without upsetting the balance of power between the role-playing factions. Additionally, they could be a destablizing force as well, making for some interesting dynamics with improper treaties with one faction over another, etc. They could easily be kept distinct from the Outlaws, who just want to live unfettered in chaos and profit, by making them unified in organized aggression such as the Assyrian, Roman, or Ottoman Empires. I think this is an idea worth discussing.

Some very interesting ideas there, I'm just not so sure how well they would work.

The map, factions, and story/premise of Roawia are pretty much "set in stone". Of course, things will change and the story will continue to develop, but adding another substantial force, or faction, (whatever you want to call it  ) would seem to me to upset things rather than make things more interesting. :?

The factions have had balance upsetting and interesting alliances and treaties before now, for instance, Lenfald and Loreos formed an alliance some time ago, but that didn't stop Garheim from maintaining its global points lead. And when it looked like the outlaws were going to be "purged" in the GC3, the KC turned the tables on the "good" factions and gave the outlaws a victory, and now we have a large-scale war in what was once a strongly united kingdom. :)

This is just my personal opinion, I'll put it before the KC for you. :)

Perhaps the baddies are the official magic-charged forces of the Exiled Queen? And the new good guys a remnant of the original occupants of the land she fled to, left to live in tenuous safety by her grace?
