Group project, one admin's quick thoughts

Post by Bruce N H »

Hey all,

Just my own quick thoughts here (not the result of a discussion with other admins and therefore not a statement of
"Site Policy"):

I'm pretty excited by all of the energy building up around this project. I'm not going to try and play any leadership role here, since it is great that this is a 'bottom-up' project and it should stay so. I will try to help a little bit with some of the forum technicalities (e.g. stickying threads, shifting things to the proper forum, posting some announcements on the site front page, etc.)

I want to get feedback from the other admins and mods, and from people involved in this group project about whether this more properly belongs in 'Stories' or 'Gaming'. As I said in my other post, I see arguments for both.

One thing you guys should do first is come up with a name for the project, so we stop calling it generic names like 'the group project that is similar in some ways to the GoH project on Eurobricks'. You should try to come up with something that will have a 3 or so letter acronym that people can use in post subject lines. E.g if you called the whole project (and I'm not suggesting this) Classic-Castle Group World, people would title posts something like CCGW MOC - Desert Outpost.

I hate to copy another site too much, but I do think that Eurobricks has a good idea with one main planning thread, one each for each realm, and then others for building challenges or whatnot. We can sticky those in this forum (or Gaming, after some final decision is reached) to make them easy to find. People could post creations in those threads, and maybe also in the Castle MOCs forum if they want to.

Anyway, just some suggestions. I don't want to come in with some sort of fist of authority and make a bunch of rules to squelch your enthusiasm and creativity. I'm pretty excited by this as well, so you might see me building some pieces of this world ...

I think it's awesome that you bought into this so quickly and are more than willing to help out in these ways. That will definitely help the organization of the threads and some very good thoughts to keep us in check  I must say, that I am very happy to see this forum so active as of late. I just joined in April, and other than CCC it has not been this active the entire year I've been here!

I think that's fair enough Bruce, if the Stories forum is quiet then it gives plenty space. I do agree a name would be helpful!

I agree with Bruce's quick thoughts. This is THE opportunity to breathe life into stories.
Wither away in an unknown alley isn't necessary. I do think life here depends on gathering forces, by the means of advertising and marketing. Erh, I mean by spreading the word outside this forum as well, show on flickr that it's an LCC moc - or whatever name comes out of our hat. I'm gonna let my lug know what's going on here, hoping to find some dutch storymoccers to join in.

Cool! that's a good idea! But we may want to get this more towards completion, before we spread the word. at least let's get a name down first! :)

good toughts bruce, yea we should come up with a name and just as Bruce said one that is easily shortened and everybody knows what it means. This is a great oppertunety to make something of our own here on the CC forum (i don't mean that here isn't orginality already but) many new lego castle entusiasts maybe joins to be part of this project. World of Classic Castle maybe

I share Bruce's enthusiasm in this project. People are really showing their interest and excitement about this, so this could indeed bring more life to the Stories forum, and to Classic-Castle in general.

Yes, getting LowLUG involved would be aeswionme, there's some brilliant builders and storytellers there :D and a lot of LowLUGgers are long-time members here at CC.
Between plotting to kill you all and chasing balls of yarn, I also build MOCs

Maybe an LCC factions (battle) display @ legoworld, if enough lowLUGgers are in this it could turn out cool.
