Just looked at this again, and I agree. Maybe later, when there's enough members, and if a group wants to set up their own faction, we can incooperate a war/rebellion/etcetera into the story that will explain the change.
I really like the idea of a rebellion occuring when people want a new faction. It should only happen a few times, like two times max, but it's a cool idea.

A civil war for one of the factions would be cool too. A struggle for power between rivals families or even siblings

Have the regional leaders and their captains been choosen, or is this still open?
AK_Brickster wrote: You might also include which faction you would like to lead.

"Red" - Grasslands
"Green" - Forests
"Blue" - Mountains / Snow
"Gold" - Swamps / Dark Forest
"Rebels" - No real official territory, other than a mystic island. This group is very magic heavy.

Thanks for your interest in this new project!
How did the colors go now, red, green and blue are official but how about gold/yellow and black they are change in all the time, it seems that not even the development committee is agreed about this.
I think that this list is best 4 faction like and one outlaw faction. The some what knight orders Red, Blue and Green . Then Yellow is rebel squad that hasn't really got an official territory, only the mystic island and they have small bases all over the land from where they make ambush attacks on the official knights. And Then there is the Black, outlaws, bandits, seabandits(a bit like medieval pirategroup )
I think that the development committee should rethink the factions like this and not put it in the drain. Shmails had his map with these colors but then somebody came up with red, blue, green and black.
Ofcourse the rebels and outlaws should work somewhat together(under yellowstandard) but there should be some independent banditsgroups. And they should be black.
Ok I know this was long but I hope there was some good point that are useful.

mencot, the final factions will be:

Red-grasslands/desert
Blue-mountains/arctic
Green-forests/foothills
Black-outlaws

A majority of what we've been planning will be revealed when the lore submissions start, hopefully in the next day or two.
Provincial Overseers (that's what we're going to call the administrators for each region) will be selected probably after or during the lore submissions. A few of the members of the development team would like to be POs, and then we'll fill the remaining spots with applicants from this thread, I think.
I hope this clears up the confusion.

Ok, I don't who all where part of the development team but hopefuly those of the members of the committee that like to be POs are Mark or LoO and Shmails if he was apart of development.

I agree with mencot's point though: it would be nice if this was communicated somewhere to the rest of us not in the development team ;) any word on why the gold faction is gone? Or joined together with the rebels/outlaws in black?
I'd think this thread would be the first in which any change in factions would be announced right?

thanks aliencat, nice to see someback up and I know Shmails and other too would back this up, to feel communication with the rest of us but its not the whole development team its just the "committee" as I call the members.
And this is nothing that I am unthankful about all great you have done or to make somebody feel bad and I know not all of us can make decicions because it doesn't work that way. But I feel like it does not matter what a few of us say(and many of us have been with this project from the beginning) you just do like you have decided.

Mencot, I see your point. The reason we haven't been publishing things continuously is because we are constantly making changes. Publishing something before everything is final could be very confusing.

We do read the forums, and we consider everything everyone writes. Many of the ideas that turn up, even if they are good ideas by themselves, don't work together as part of a whole. Currently, our private discussion thread has 1011 posts, and a great number of them are about trying to come up with something that will work for everyone while keeping the whole thing consistent. However, most of us will not agree 100% with everything we come up with, we all have to make compromises to make this work.

Feel free to send me a PM if there is something specific you feel you haven't been heard on, and/or want to discuss :)

And this is good that you hold it until its final, but the faction and colors made a bit of confusion when there were all kind of diffrent points on diffrent topics. And that you will make an announcement topic where just the commity will publish news is a good thing.

The problem as I see it, and this is nothing more than my observations of the activity here, is that the committee has gotten too deep into the "lore" and storytelling side of this project. If this is a storytelling event, then that is okay, but I thought this was a community build project. The more backstory and history you provide, the more limited our creativity is. Why do we need backstories? Why can't we make those up to fit the stories we are telling in the mocs? Or at least allow the members of each factions (once decided) to make their own backstories?

We have a map and four factions, each with a defined set of characteristics. How much more is needed? Are you guys making up names for the Kings? Or deciding why the folks in the desert are there? Aren't those things we should be making up in our creations? The more you tell us in terms of backstory, the more limited we will be in our creativity.

I understand the excitement levels that come along with planning a project like this. My goal with these comments is not to destroy your joy of the project, but to let you know that you are working on things that may not go over so well and probably should be grown more organically. As an example, back in art school, the best projects were the ones where the teacher said "build me a chair" or "create of model of ebb and flow". The less direction, the more creativity that is allowed to flow.

Just my two cents on what I am seeing. I know there are things going on behind closed doors that may not fit with what I am saying, this is just the feeling I am getting right now.

Yup I agree with ya. That should all be done in the lore contest

it says in the general info thread that the RAs(on request of the site admins the term has now been changed to faction overseer) will be selected by the people in the faction they will be head of, so after the project is running and each faction has enough members.
