I suggested that on the other thread but it seems liek it may be hard to do. Still I think it is possible too!
With FlickR, I believe this could be done to some extent. When the final map is chosen, the maker could add non-overlapping notes (little "signs" on the picture, in case you'e not familiar with FlickR) with links to the builds located there. Furthermore, we could have a full map of the whole LCC world, with notes leading to maps of the separate factions' lands. Werefrom there could then be notes leading to the actual builds. This way, the map will get less cluttered and messy, and you will actually be able to have two buildings in the same town.
I think this would be messy.

I made a small demo of what I thought of. Just mouse over the red dots.[/quote]

Hey Bentoft, thats cool and it seems to work better then I thought. And that isn`t just for that you choose to use my map for your example .
But when this project is up and running full time, there is going to be alot of dots, then it can be a bit messy. But we`ll figure it out then when that day comes.
This is definetly something we should think about to use :D thanks

Impressive idea, Bentoft. I didn't know we had anybody capable of doing that, let alone that it was possible!

I just added red dots to show where you can mouse over. In a final version I dont think we need them, since there would be a lot more spots - it would just be exciting to explore the map.

Yes, that's what I had in my mind too. You could even make a zoomable map, zooming in to submaps. The thing is, how to incorporate this? It's not a photo, it's a webpage (html, possibly added with JavaScript or JQuery), and you can't host that on flickr nor display this simply in a forum topic like you do with an image. The same for a wiki, you've gotta host it somewhere.

Got an edited version of my map up now, cleaned up and with clearer borders and some terrain descriptions.

Yeah very nice map indeed! I like the seperateness of the kingdoms (if that makes sense) instead of them all being next to eachother on the map they all are geographical unique and realistic in their borders. Nice descriptions too

Wow, Great job Bentoft! If we can incorporate something like that into the map it would be so awesome!

Great map A-V!! My only problem with this is that the "extra" unclaimed land sounds a little inhospitable. It might be better if it was more welcome to expansion. just a thought. :) otherwise, great! Nice shaping as well! :D

Thanks, guys!
@Mark : Well, that's just my initial ideas. Actually, I didn't mean the southern black countries to be too inhospitable, I just wanted a quick reason why nobody had claimed it yet. Maybe they've just not been very interested in exploration. Regarding the northern part, I figured it could play some roles as a "last resort" of crossing from green to the other factions in an emergency situation of some kind. Maybe it should be edited to be more welcoming in the summer times?
But anything about the map is open to suggestions and change, so keep them coming :)

Yeah, that makes sense. Less desirable lands are not claimed as quickly. :) It could be that none of the factions are strong enough to expand so rapidly. Just a another thought. ;)

Good idea! If one of the factions spread out its forces too much so early, the others could easily grab the chance and run them over. We'll have to mention that somewhere in the rules

Or, somewhere in the "Lore" perhaps? Like "The factions, terrified of weakening themselves (for fear of invasion) did not expand into unclaimed lands, but fortified their borders... (once the lore entry thread comes up of course.) :)
