This is awesome! Something like this would really up the value of this project, I think. We'll discuss this amongst the "developers" and see if this is something we want to do.
The main problem I forsee is the sheer number of MOCs that are going to be generated - If this gets as big as I think it can, there could be a dozen MOCs/week that would need to be added to this map, with everyone fighting over prime real estate for where they want their building to go. Perhaps we would need to limit the ones featured to contest winners or something. For example, "This month's contest is to design a fortification for (Faction A) at (x,y,z location)." And then post the winner to the map
Yes that needs to be done. We cant have laods of people posting at random where they like and the contest if the best idea for it

Yes this problem came to my mind too that there could come alot of new mocs and stuff when this project grows. But this is a good idea and it is worth thinking about.

Focus on making an interesting land with lots of features, we can figure out the rest later.
Yes exactly, just keep it to a draft with features and after that the map is choosen lets think about all the speciallitys and stuff.

So should someone open up the Lore thread already? I mean seeing as I think most of us so like the MAP that Albtross made and I assume most of us have been forming ideas based on his map, why wait to start a thread about the lore? Well we should at least start deciding Kingdom names anyway 8)

We want the map to be settled before starting the lore thread, as we'll want some basic guidelins in place.

If you want to discuss ideas for lore, I suggest using the discussion thread (the big one) for now, it seems pretty dead anyway.

Fair enough! The main one is quite dead you are right, this thread has turned into the idea hub really !

Thumps up! That seems like a good way to keep the amount of MOCs on the map limited and everything less cluttered. Only thing is we'll have to split up the final map in a number of (x,y) points.
Well, we wouldn't need actual x,y coordinates. We could just post a picture of the map with the area the MOC is supposed to go shown with a star or something.

Sounds fine with me, AK_B.
But before the lore, we'll also need somebody with drawing skills (either on computer or with a pen) to make a final version of the chosen map.

I used to be very good at C.A.D. but have forgotten it all

We can do lore without a detailed map. Small streams and pretty drawings of trees won't affect the general storyline too much ;)

Edit: newer rules on the next page

- 3 factions: Blue: Snow/Mountains; Green: Forests/Foothills; Red: Grasslands/Desert.
- All factions should share a land border with at least one of the others.
- All factions should have access to the sea.
- Deadline: End of Saturday.

Also keep in mind that the map chosen will have to be tweaked later to completely fit with all the other details. The map should be finalized made after the lore.

Okay then...
Not trying to be a crying n00b, but that's pretty annoying, Wobnam
Off I go to change it then...
It doesn't matter if the land border is only on a part of the country, and the main body is off in the sea, does it?

;) Sorry Albatross_Viking, I got it on here as soon as possible. Remember this is only a draft version, so no fancy unchangeable graphics are required.

If I understand correctly, you want to do something like having a faction's main land be an island, but adhering to rule about land border by also giving them a piece of the mainland? This is totally fine.

lord_of_orks: Great!

Okay, thanks. And that was excactly what i planned :)
This new format will probably leave more uoccupied country on my map, too.
But... does the "3 factions"-rule mean that the "rebel" faction and its island is cancelled?
