Oh man, I;m not even on the top three! Congratulations to the winner, I was one of the ones who voted for you  . I was away all week camping, so that's why I'm just replying now. Time to start building again!

First Lenfald Duelling Challenge!

Hear ye, hear ye!
To keep all warriors and lords of Lenfald physically fit and ready for battle, the High Lord has ordered Dueling competitions to be held throughout Lenfald. Enter your champion and make an attempt for the esteemed prize!

The Challenge!

Based on the concept of Mark of Falworth's Jousting challenge, I'm holding a dueling challenge for Lenfald! I'm allowed to give out 2 more challenge-related points this month, which means that the winner takes 2 points! So, create a Champion, a knight or a warrior or whatever, and enter him in the Dueling Challenge!

How stuff works!

The contest itself is based around chance. Your Champion will 'fight" another in a game of chance using a dice. The champion with the highest number of eyes wins and moves on to the next round until two finalists come out on top. These two will face each other in the Final Duel, winner takes all.

Should there be an uneven number of finalists, three rolls of the dice will determine the winners(the champions with the two highest numbers will be finalists). The rounds will be published after they have been held. See page 34 of the Loreos faction thread to view a Jousting post and see in more detail how the rounds work.

The deadline for entering your champion will be the second-to-last day of this month: July 30th 23:59:59 Euro-Time (Amsterdam/Bruxelles)

How to enter?

Simply create a champion and post a picture of him/her on flicr/mocpages/brickshelf. Since it is just a fig, please don't post it in the MOC forum to prevent clutter. Send me a PM with a link to him/her instead. I will then confirm your entry and pitch your champion against another. Posting the image in this thread is allowed. Be aware that you can only enter ONCE!

Because I will be the one throwing the dice, I will not enter.

May the God of Luck be on your side! For Great Lenfald!

Special thanks go to Mark of Falworth for the concept of this challenge. Used with his permission. Any questions must be send to Teherean via PM.

EDIT with a small announcement, didn't want to double-post:
The Lenfald info Page has had a remodelling, featuring pretty colors and information on the Flickr groups. Nothing major, but still fun to know I guess. Is anyone for adding a list in the main post with links to notable Lenfald-related builds? If I get enough positive feedback on this, I will implement it.

Deadline is one day before the end of the month, July 30th 23:59:59 Euro-Time. That's when the amount of points I am allowed to distribute for challenges resets.
Fireglade wrote:Is our champion allowed to have a mount?
For now, no. Lenfald has few horses, hence dueling and not jousting. Maybe in the future. ;)

Entry for the Lenfald Duelling Challenge

Image Image

Lord Val Karem and Lady Val travel south to partake in the Lenfald Duelling Challenge.
The Lord left his trusted Curved Sword at home and will instead be competing with short battle axe and longsword.

For Great Lenfald!

I like the idea of having 'notable' Lenfel builds on the first page. Maybe we could vote on our favorite Lenfel MOC of the last month? People could nominate their favorite candidates for consideration, and the final voting would be done in PMs to either you or me.

sounds good, but I think we should compile a list of Lenfald builds so people don't have to surf the the endless replies of this thread to look for candidates.

I agree that we should have a notable builds of Lenfald place on the front page. I think it would be nice to vote on which builds of the last month are the best but that might take a lot of work for the FO and FL. I think that in the Notable builds place we should have the winner MOCs of the contests featured there as well.

I agree insofar as this would be nice, but tremendous work for the FO/FLs. But how to decide which MOCs besides the contest winners should be featured? Voting via PM is out of the question (too much work), we could either have a monthly regular poll in a thread with all the MOCS from the month listed, or simply an editor's pick kind of thing.

--

A couple more things:

1) Lenfald Map - I like the new structured first post, but what is missing is a link to the final map (Map of Lenfald) and some info on how to 'place' your builds in the map (meaning posting in the comments).

2) Ruined City of Elavia in the Strath Armen - I'd like to suggest for the next local challenge to incorporate this city in some way - it would be a nice use of the new LOTR brick-bricks (Image) and would allow for some storytelling ... this could be an archeological expedition into the city, a lone wanderer seekign shelter in the ruins, troops clearing the city from outlaws, what have you

3) LCC Lenfald Title Banners - Some time ago I made custom banners for Lenfald, and maybe someone else would like to use them as well... they can be found on Image Brickshelf

4) LCC Wiki - If anyone would like a place to collect links to his MOCs or to write down the story of his character I suggest creating a page on the WIKI for the character http://roawia.wikia.com/wiki/Roawia_-_L ... astle_Wiki

I think that would be terrific. I really would like it if we had a Lenfald map link on the front page as it would be easier to find and give better ideas for freebuilds and MOCs.

About the voting, it might be a good idea just to have the FO to elect one different person each month to choose the "notable" MOC of the Month. That way the FO has less work and we can see everyone's opinion through the months.

I've added a link to the final map in the First page. Good idea mitah! I'll post a link to the wiki as well.

About the LC for the next time, I might incorporate your idea, but I was leaning more towards a contest about our alliance with Loreos. Good suggestion though... :woo:

EDIT to prevent double post:

The Second General Contest, the Search for the Sword Contest, is up and running! Take a look at the rules in it's thread! We willselect our finalist(s) by vote, Good luck (literally) in the contest, ladies and gents! Let's take victory for Lenfald this time! :D

My entry for the Duel Contest-

http://www.flickr.com/photos/73044199@N ... 531025552/

Marius rides to the contest to earn glory for the Shieldkeeper Clan.

Honestly, I thought I was being totally original with the whole 'classic chevron shield'. Ah well....
Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven’t seen the back of us yet
We’ll fight as long as we live
