It does not have to be your character. You can only enter one champion. Entering more champions would give you an edge over the rest, since chance will decide the winner.

Re: LCC-Lenfald Official Faction Thread.
Would our champion die, become shamed for life or become wounded if we lose the duel?
With jousting, the knights usually don't die they just get knocked to the ground and their pride wounded, but dueling sounds more like "to the death".

Re: LCC-Lenfald Official Faction Thread.
Well, the original concept for this challenge was based around what we in holland call "Steekspel", literally that translates to "stab-play". I looked up the translation in a dictionary and it said "dueling". It was a form of, or a part of, a tournament. Historical sources that I've reviewed say two knights would have a go at each other with blunt swords (or other non-sharp weapons, like clubs) in full armor, in an arena of about 10-12 square feet.
Therefore, it was not very likely that participants would die. If your champion loses a match, he suffers no negative effects. He simply lost that round and has to withdraw from the competition.
I guess this was a more common form of dueling in Northern Europe, where horses were (more) scarce.
See this image to get an idea of what I mean:

Re: LCC-Lenfald Official Faction Thread.
So, our champion does have to have some sort of armor?
And does their weapon have to be a sword or can it be an axe, mace, spear, ect.?
Sorry, if I am making this more complicated than it is.
I really appreciate you being so helpful to me as I ask all these questions.
Thanks, for all your hard work.

Yeah, you can use any weapon you want. Historically, axes would not have been used in a competition like this due to their extremely destructive nature. All other hand-to -hand weapons were fair game, though.
(If you guys want your champion to have an axe, he can have one. I guess this isn't exactly a historical world.)

Yes, Medieval Guy is right. You can use whatever weapon and armor you want. Be creative!Medieval Guy wrote:Yeah, you can use any weapon you want. Re: LCC-Lenfald Official Faction Thread.
My entry for the dueling contest :
Elleanora of Gatsby by Petturik NL, on Flickr
While traveling around the world, Tybalt found Elleanora in a bar. Drunk and alone she sat at a table. When a few Outlaws approached her and wanted to grope at her, she pulled out 2 axes from under the table and started swinging them.
The Outlaws were surprised at the force and grace with which she wielded those hefty axes. They quickly backed off, out of harms way. Elleanora layed down her axes and resumed drinking.
Then Tybalt approached her. Wanting to grab her axes, Tybalt rushed in and persuaded her not to pick them up. He told her a dueling contest was bound to be held within Lenfel borders.
With honour and wealth in her mind, she agreed to be Tybalts champion. Thus a (soon to be) legend was born.

I present to you, the great Sir Ustrichisus X. Ageratus, the Almighty Doer of Great, Admirable Deeds of Questionable Value and Believeability, flanked by his trusty, self-sufficient warhorse and thus utterly obsolete squire and standard bearer.

Jirack Beofyre by Fireglade, on Flickr
Here is my Champion!!!
Jirack Beofyre
Is from the original band of Outlaws that pledged their loyalty to me. His past was difficult and brutal. Born of the Bloodcaster clan, he has been a disciple of hand to hand combat and the axe ever since a young boy. This clan believes that your skin is your armor. They believe through exercise, discipline, and meditation your skin can stop a blade. They believe that to wear armor is cowardly and disrespectful to you and your family, so they wear none. Instead they taunt their enemies with their bare chests. He has been a loyal guard to me and he once saved my life, for these reasons I have chosen him as my champion.
He basically defies all rules of historical dueling, but I made him before I started asking questions(facepalm, why would I do that?) and after you said be creative, well he seemed great.
Thanks for the great contest!

Hey folks, just a quick message:
1. Dueling challenge is drawing to a close. You only have 23 hours and 30 minutes left to enter a champion!
2. What would you like to see for the coming LC? Will we jump on the bandwagon and host a contest similar to that of Garheim and the Outlaws? Also, if one of you would like to host a contest for a change, PM me! A new major LC could be launched 1st of August.
3. We still have some time left, but where are you guys in the GC? We gotta take this one from the Garhim and the Loreesi, I know the current entries are tought to beat, but with only me and TheBoyWarrior having entered, this isn't going to cut it...

Seeing the GC2 is still in progress and proceeding till the 12th of August I'd say host one close to the end date of that.2. What would you like to see for the coming LC? I'd love to see a semi bigger one, the dueling and stuff is getting somewhat ... well boring I think. I know we got some great builders and thus we should get some great building done
I'm working on it since the announcement. It was a bit hard to get cracking, because I still had to work, but now I've got some days off I will try and finish it within the deadline.3.
