Hey all, so I decided to compile all of my topics concerning the city of Hallfrost in one topic,
so then it would take up less space, and so then it would be easier for people to learn about the city.

The City of Hallfrost

About the city
The city of Hallfrost was founded on the ruins of the great city of Illyr, in the Year 217 of the 3rd era, by the remaining members of the Knights of Illyria, and their families. The city currently boasts one of the biggest markets on this side of the map. Many noble born children are sent to Hallfrost to either study at one of it's many prestigious universities, or to train to become a member of the well respected Knights of Illyria. The city also serves as a training camp, and safe haven for a secret order of mages that very few people know of. The city has played host to a couple different Jarls and for this the city is looked on in jealousy by many of it's neighboring cities and towns, and has been harassed by a couple of the more overly jealous towns. Another impressive feature of the city is it's almost impenetrable wall, and it's formidable city guard. The city is ruled by a High Lord who is supplemented by the Captain of the city guard, the High Lord is usually a male relative of the previous High Lord, though there has been a few High Ladies, when there was no male heir to take over as High Lord. The city also has control over a large amount of castles outside of the cities boundaries, such as Darkhold, The White Citadel, The River Fortress, and many others.

The Government of Hallfrost
The city of Hallfrost is ruled by a hereditary monarchy, with the Captain of the Guard acting as Regent in the absence of the High Lord

The Council of Priests: There are currently 10

Religion in Hallfrost
The city of Hallfrost follows a religion that was once practiced by it's predecessor, Illyr.

The Old One
Other names: All-father, King of the gods, Lord of Snow.
Description: The Old One is a kind hearted god, who is considered the father of man, and most of the gods. The old one is said to have created the world, man, and winter, and was one of the first gods to come into existence.
Worship: The old one is a major god in Garheim, and worshiped throughout the land by just about anyone.
Domains: Winter, Kindness, Family

The Lord of Winds
Other names: Windlord, The Upstart, Bringer of the Northern Winds
Description: The Lord of Winds is good natured, but has a terrible temper that has gotten him into trouble with his father “The Old One” before. The lord of winds is said to have control over the weather and most important, the winds, he is the child of
“the old one” and “the maiden of snow”.
Worship: The lord of winds is a major god among sailors and farmers, as he has control over the winds that fill the sails of the sailor’s boats, and the rain that nourishes the farmer’s fields.
Domains: Wind, The weather

The Reaper
Other names: Lord Death, Soul Eater, Prince of Darkness, The Wanderer
Description: The Reaper is a bad natured, jealous god, that has opposed many of the old one’s decisions, such as creating man, and allowing the elves to live, despite their rebellion against the gods during the beginning of time. The reaper is said to have control over death, the night, and the gates of the underworld. He is the younger brother of “the old one”, and the uncle of “the lord of winds”.
Worship: The reaper is one of two patron gods to the Knights of Illyria, and is worshiped by many of it’s members. The reaper is also worshiped by those who prepare the dead.
Domains: Death, loss, darkness

The Prince of Blood
Other names: The Warrior, The Bloodied One, The Death Bringer
Description: The Prince of Blood is a bloodthirsty, murderous god, that cares for no one but himself and those who worship him. The prince of blood is the creator of the orc race, and the one who first taught man how to kill each other. The prince of blood is said to have control over who lives and dies during a battle, he will also let the side that prayed to him usually win. He is the younger brother of the “lord of winds”, and the son of “the old one”.
Worship: The Prince of Blood is one of two patron gods to the Knights of Illyria. His worshipers are mostly warriors and kings.
Domains: Death, War, Magic

The Maiden of Snow
Other names: The Princess of Ice, The Queen of Winter, Lady Snow
Description: The Maiden of Snow is a fierce, cold-hearted, goddess, that cares only for her family, she has now love for any of the mortals down on the world she helped to create. The maiden of snow is said to have a stronger hold on the powers of winter, then even her husband, "the old one", she also is said to be the cause of the great blizzards that Garheim suffers throughout the year. The maiden of snow is married to "the old one" and is the mother of "the lord of winds" and "the prince of blood".
Worship: The Maiden of Snow is the patron goddess of the city of Hallfrost, and revered by many of the northern tribes.
Domains: Ice, Snow, Winter

The Military of Hallfrost
Hallfrost's military consists mostly of light infantry, men-at-arms, valkeries, northern rangers, and a small amount of cavalry, Hallfrost also boasts a large garrison of the Knights of Illyria.
The light infantry include spear-men, axe-men, and halbeards-men.
The men-at-arms are mostly swords-men that have trained with the knights of illyria, though there a few that haven't had any formal training and have only received basic combat training.
The valkeries are an order of warrior women, that have elected to help defend their city when the time comes.
The northern rangers were a special forces part of the Knights of Illyria before the fall of Illyr, but since the fall, they have become a separate group within the the military of Garheim.
The cavalry are mostly mounted men-at-arms, though there are a few mounted Knights of Illyria among them.
The Knights of Illyria are a elite fighting force, first formed in the ancient city of Illyr, by the High Lord at the time. The Knights of Illyria undergo years of intensive training, under the most skilled warriors in Garheim. Once their training is completed, they are assigned to a garrison, and stay there till they either die, or are promoted to a position were they can choose were they are assigned.

Timeline of Hallfrost

3rd Era, Year 217
The remaining members of the Knights of Illyria, and their families, come back to were Illyr once stood to erect a new city,
by the name of Hallfrost.

3rd Era, Year 225
The city of Hallfrost is finally finished after eight long years of construction.

3rd Era, Year 226
Lord Calis Strogbare is named High Lord and sovereign ruler of the great city of Hallfrost.

3rd Era, Year 228
Lady Jay, the wife of Lord Calis, gives birth to a son, she names him Lujk.

note: this is a big project that will probably take me a while to complete, so don't get to fed up with me. There will be frequent updates until I'm done.

Nice job! I like the banner/sigil for Hallfrost. Can't wait to see more from this region. Orevale is an up-and-coming region in Garheim and I'll end up making a similar thread for the details and history soon. Great job, keep it up!

Thanks Ronan! I'm glad you like it so far, and I can't wait till you post the thread for Orevale. Maybe Orevale and Hallfrost could be allies? or at least trade partners? It could prove useful for us in the future.
Hopefully I'll have a bit more of this finished today.

My only question would be, if there is a college of mages in the city, and the neighboring cities are all afraid/angry/combative towards them because of it, then why would anyone send their children there, and how did the city become so prosperous? Maybe if you made the mages a secret society, that would lend itself to your story a little better.

Oh, also please keep in mind that the LCC should focus more on your CHARACTER than being a city-building game. It's great for you to have a back story for your town, but see if you can keep the focus on your character and his role in the story instead of building some sort of super-city empire ;)

Don't worry AK, I just want to get the backstory of Hallfrost flushed out and then I'll make sure to focus more on my character, rather then turning Hallfrost into an empire :twisted:
