Brother Steven wrote: Chartres should acquire, instead of a sword, an awesome indestructible suit of armor (not magical) that no lightening bolt or flame or other dark magic could penetrate so that the queen's power would be useless against him.
Wouldn't this suit of armor have to be magical or at least blessed by a priest to have this immunity? And I'm not sure how a child with no time on the battlefield could possibly be any sort of example to experienced veterans such as ourselves.

I was thinking of two arrows to her chest and one through her head, but short of that, have we thought about the possiblity of exposing them as a Witch and Wizard and letting the people see what they supported and rise up with the faction players? I know that's a hard story line to write...

And I wouldn't mind if the Queen turned Chartres into a newt during the storyline :roflol:

Yeah the armor you're describing sounds awfully magical to me as well... :?

Can I make a thread for the "sword" builds once I finish them?

I have an upcoming MOC that involves my character holding out with a resistance force in one of the few strongholds that remains (it is very far north). Dose that count as open war?

If it is extremely far north, then it's probably okay. Any messengers trying to make it back to tell the queen of the rebellion probably wouldn't survive the wargs during the night anyway ;)

That said, it doesn't sound like that would fit this challenge very well. You could use it as a free build though.

WAR! I've been hoping for this for a while, and have been amassing troops in my room ;)
I've already got some cool ideas for my build(s), and I'm pleased that the Sword plays a part! It's a god weapon that was being searched for by several brave and loyal Loreesi, so why are you all complaining?

I think the magic sword sounds fine. Didn't we have a GC to get our king a magic sword way back when this first started?

Yes, squabble among yourselves about something as petty as a magic sword, that way the true citizens of Roawia can stay in power. :P

Magical-Smagical.

Didn't Thomas of Arrowford find a similar sword for it to turn out to be a dud?

I'd like to think of it like Excalibur, whether it's ACTUALLY magic, or people BELIEVE IT TO BE the point is that whoever wields it commands power, and people follow power!

The rebellion is rising... SUIT UP! (as long as it's not a 'magical' suit) :P.

I do understand the "fight fire with fire" mentality but I see where Brother Steven is coming from and I kind of agree; why do we need a magic item to fight magic-wielders? We beat them on their own turf well enough (I mean, we did lose, but who keeps track of that  ). That said, if a mythical item (based in magic) is involved, a sword seems more epic (and practical) for rallying troops to a cause than a suit of armor. However we must battle the would-be Queen, rescuing our leaders should be of the utmost importance.

But enough rabble from me - great storyline and I'm excited to start building! :D

Brother Steven wrote:A coalition of forces from across Roawia has been diligently questing for a mythical sword, the Sword of Arondor; a weapon that could be used to combat the Queen and her evil master sorcerer, Maldrake the Silent.

What?! Woah?!?! Am I the only one who saw that?! :twitch:

Do you mean that Chartres Wenseclaus II is going retake Roawia with a magic sword!!! that's what the Queen did!! She took over with magic! The horror!!

If Chartres is to be a user of magic let me be clear... I, Sir Angus, will never swear allegiance to a man who uses mythical objects!!!

I some what agree powerful magic is not some thing you want your ruler to have unless he is lawfully good, I suggest we use the sword to defeat the Queen and put an end to her Diabolical plots then put it some where that it wont fall into the wrong hands or be used for wrong. But the most easy way to defeat magic with magic if we all just march on the isles she could just wipe us out by using her Magic to blast us to oblivion :twitch:

I love the 'Excalibur' idea from andhe, it's a very clever way of rallying troops and the technique has actually been used quite often throughout history.
