Location: Somewhere between the Gaija Forest and the Forest of Sorrow, in a stand of ancient trees.
I wrote:"Sister," said the man in grey, smiling, "I do not believe it was by chance that I was passing that way. The fates work mysteriously, and the time is ripe for change. Bandit groups are growing in power, and dark mages are joining them. Some kings are becoming restless, I fear that wars will erupt. Not here, Forlego and Harlego's peace has good magic behind it, but elsewhere...who can tell. Let us go inside and dine with our guests." So saying, he and the woman in white left the stable and went into the treehouse.
___When Roëd awoke, it was late morning. He wondered vaguely where he was, and then he remembered. After he'd gone inside the treehouse, he, Nary, and Berw were seated at a table. The four younger, but still old, dwellers of the woodland cottage sat down with them, and a few minutes later, the old man who had found them and the woman in the white dress joined them. They clapped their hands, and food appeared on the table. It was simple fare, but better than the travelers had had since they started out. After that, Roëd remembered being led to a tub and given some clothes to change into. When he had finished his bath, he was shown a bed in a dark room, and went to it gratefully.
___When he dressed himself in his travel clothes, which had been washed, he went to the kitchen and found Nary up and talking with the women in red and brown. When he inquired, he found that Berw's leg was being healed by the man in grey and the woman in white, and that the men in blue and green had gone to gather supplies from the forest around them.
___Roëd went outside to look around and saw the two men approaching the house. The one in green was carrying a huge bundle of branches and the one in blue a barrel under each arm. Neither of them seemed tired at all, and Roëd looked at them in wonderment. He called out to them, "What is in those barrels, that you carry them so easily? And what of those sticks? Are they made of clouds?"
___The men looked at each other and laughed, then the blue-clad one spoke up. "These barrels? Just water. And my brother's bundle is branches from regular trees. Come, Roëd, try lifting them yourself."
___Not pausing to wonder why the man knew his name, he ran over to them. Taking the bundle from the man in green, he nearly collapsed under the weight, and when he tried to lift one of the barrels, he couldn't. "How do you do that? Are you magic?"
___"Well, you could say that, but that's not how we lifted these. Watch carefully," said the man in green, and he picked up his bundle of branches, and set them down again. "Now, you try."
___Trying to make his posture the same as he'd seen the green-robed man do, he tried again, and to his amazement, lifted the branches effortlessly. He started laughing, and danced around, when suddenly the weight hit him again, and he toppled. He stood up in a moment though, dazed but unhurt, and asked them, now beginning to understand, how they lifted the things.
___"I see you're beginning to learn, Roëd, so I'll make this short. You simply have to be confident that you can lift it, and you will. You mustn't lose concentration though, as you aren't yet trained enough to lift without focusing. If you practice for many years, you may get as good as we are," said the man in blue. "On another matter, you don't yet know our names. I'm Bule, and my companion is Ergen. Our elder brother is Reyg, and our sisters are Hiwte, Dre, and Rowbn, in white, red, and brown, respectively. We have two more brothers and two more sisters, but they dwell not here. They wander the lands abroad, and you need not know their names. If you see them, however, you will know them instantly as members of our order."
___"Thank you for showing me how to lift things, Ergen. Bule, it is an honer to meet you. Now, how about some breakfast?" Roëd asked lightly, and they went into the tree cottage, setting their burdens down outside of the door.

Location: North East of Wellestowne

Lloyd had struggled over Berger pass, and finally was crossing one of the two rivers that was near Wellestowne.

"Finally.." He muttered under his breath. He stopped on the bank, and began drinking the water greedily. He had been crossing the mountains for two days, and he only had one canteen. After quenching his thirst sufficently, he walked over the wide bridge, nodding hello to a man with a hand cart full of wheat. It made him home sick, and miss his father. The boards creaked as he walked, and no sooner had he touched his foot on dirt again, he heard a clammer behind him. He quickly turned, to see a small girl running as fast as she could, holding a lumpy bag.

"Come back here you cursed child!"

The girl ran faster, and almost six feet behind here was a farmer screaming curses and yelling at her, waving a pitchfork.
"Stop her!! Stop her! Don't let her cross the bridge!" The farmer yelled.

Lloyd paused. He tapped his staff, turned, and continued on his way.
"The girl is young, and she is thin. She can take that bag of grain." He muttered to himself. He remembered many a time he had to steal. He hated it, but when he was younger it was the only way to survive. The shouting got louder. He heard a pair of feel cross the bridge, followed by another. He turned again, just in time to see the girl trip.

"Gottcha now!" The farmer yelled. He grabbed the girl's shirt, and pulled her up harshly.

"It is wrong to steal!" He said sternly. The girl just looked down, crying.

"I'm going to have to teach you a lesson..." He began reaching for a horse whip in his pack.

"Wait. I'll teach her." Lloyd called as he walked up.

"Very well. I need to tend the rest of my crops anyway." And with that, the man salked away, slinging the bag of returned grain easily over his shoulder.

"Stop crying. Who are you?"
"I'm... I'm..." She broke out into sobs again.

"Come on. we'll go to Wellestowne."

They continued to walk. After walking about half a mile of silence, the girl began talking.

"My name is Olive. I ran away. I want to go and live in a better place then were I came."

"Shhh!" Lloyd hissed as he held out his arm to stop her. He reached for his dagger.

"What is it?"

"Shhh!" He insisted. A loud russling was heard. Suddenly seven highway men jumped out, grabbing Olive and holding her tight. Lloyd dropped his staff and grabbed his sickle and knife.

"What are you going to do, boy?" The biggest one yelled.

"Yeah are you going to fight us?" Another taunted.

"Something like that..." Lloyd muttered under his breath. He really hoped someone would come down the path. He had fought many, but not this many armed men.
He lunged forward....

"Something like that..." Lloyd muttered under his breath. He really hoped someone would come down the path. He had fought many, but not this many armed men.
He lunged forward....
Suddenly, right before Lloyds eyes, and sword can flipping out of nowhere and stuck right into one of the badit's chest.

Followed by the sword, only steps behind it, charged a man in full metal armor, brandishing a great two-handed sword with one hand, as if it where as light as a feather, while he wielded a large kite shield in the other hand.

The unkown newcomer crashed into the highwaymen, they where all bandits to the knight, crushing ones head right on his shield.

At the same moment, with great force, he swung his greatsword in a side-sweeping motion, slicing one other bandit in half. He parried a blow, blocked another with his shield, hacked down and sliced an arm right off one of the minifigs, then, brunging his sword up, beheaded a second.

Turning his shield so it was horizontal, he slashed into another minifig, creating a huge gash in the highwaymen clothes, drawing blood.

What remained of the bandits took off into the nearest woods, the one with no arm being first.

Lloyd watched in amazement as the knight walked over and picked up his broadsword from the chest of a highwayman.

"Skin-toned idiots," said the knight.

Lloyde cringed at this, skin-tone was one of the foulest swears in the world, and it was not said lightly, or, until now.

"How do you do sir, and you to little lady?" Asked the knight, who's voice was chearful and pleasent, not what Lloyde had expected.

___Starcloak was riding away from Wellestowne when he saw several men up ahead. They seemed to be fighting a single boy, Starcloak judged him to be about thirteen or fourteen years old. He was about to speed up his horse to help, when he saw a man burst out of the undergrowth nearby and slaughter three or four of the attackers. Then he saw that there was a young girl nearby. He guessed that the boy was trying to protect her. Drawing his horse to a standstill next to them, he asked what had happened.
___"These two were walking along the path when those bandits grabbed the girl. I saw them through the brush and went to help them," the man who'd killed the bandits said. "This boy probably would've died if I hadn't arrived."
___"I had a similar occurance yesterday, only the rescueés were two fully armored knights," Starcloak said. "I would've helped if you hadn't come, but thank you for saving the children." As soon as he said 'children', he wished he hadn't. The boy didn't look like he appreciated it. "If you want, I'll ride you into Wellestowne," he said to the two.
___"No, I'll take them. I need to buy some food anyway," the man in armor said. "But thank you for the offer."
___"No problem. If any of you happen to see a knight called Sir Doric while you're in town, tell him Starcloak says hello, and not to forget about his appointment. Well, I must be off." Remounting his horse, he started it up with a cluck of his tongue. After a few minutes, he looked back and saw the three figures making their way to Wellestowne. What a strange occurance, he thought, and continued riding.

Location: Wellestowne, the Castle Alexandria
Formendacil wrote:"Oh, by the way," he said, breaking the silence halfway to the Castle, "I don't believe I know your name."

"Rendrissa," she replied.

"Sir Wilfred D'Antigon, pleased to meet you."
Shortly after entering the Castle Alexandria, where the guards gave him no more than a queer look for his young female companion, Sir Wilfred got Rendrissa settled, and was proceeding down to the kitchens for a late night snack, when he was accosted by Princess Casi.

"Will!" she shrieked, catching him halfway through a cake at unawares. "Where on EARTH have you been?"

"Mmm..." Wilfred wolfed down the cake in his mouth. "Rescuing a damsel in distress, if you must know. Very heroic work."

"Apparently you've also been mouthing off Father's staff," the Princess gave him a hard look. "And of all the departments you had to pick Intelligence- and Starcloak at that."

"Those spies are the stuffiest of the lot, so they're bound to get me irritated," said Wilfred unapologetically. "In any event, an untitled commoner like that had no right talking to a landed knight and close friend of the king such as I am like that."

"Well, it just so happens that Starcloak is rather valuable to Father, and I don't think he'd appreciate you losing him his staff," said Casi.

"Don't worry, if he's not gone yet, I don't think he'll be quitting any time soon," said Wilfred. "He hasn't, has he? Quit, that is?"

"No, he hasn't quit," said Casi, rolling her eyes. "He is gone- on a mission- though."

"Good riddance. I don't like those high-and-mighty types," said Wilfred unabashedly.

"Dear, you happen to be one of them quite often," said Casi, with an indulgent smile.

"Then I must also happen to be one of the rare likeable ones," said Wilfred rogueishly, earning a swat from the princess.

"Now what's all this I hear about you escorting some pretty young lady throughout the city?" She raised a cold, inquiring eyebrow.

"The young lady was in the process of being battered by a very unseemly ruffian," said Wilfred, delicately. "After going to all the trouble of rescuing her and fighting off hordes of riverfront scum, you can hardly expect me to just up and abandon her, especially seeing as she's a stranger in the city, and her guardian was killed by the aforesaid ruffian."

"The poor dear," Casi shook her head. "I'll go and have a talk with her tomorrow, get her back on her feet. What's her name?"

"Clarissa or some such thing," said Wilfred. "If the interrogation's over, my love, I'll be turning in pretty soon. It's been a long day."

After a few minutes, he looked back and saw the three figures making their way to Wellestowne.

Lloyd looked relieved as he helped Olive onto the stallion. He spoke to the knight gratefully,

"Thanks. I've been out in the world for a while now, but not near here.. I guess I mean were I come from there isn't very many highwaymen, because the roads are filled with farmers with wool and grains of not much value."

Olive sighed.

"I'm glad I didn't cry!"

The knight in armour chuckled.

"I'm glad you didn't too. What are you two doing alone on a dangerous highway?"

Lloyd replied,

"We were traveling to Wellestowne."

"I see."

Lloyd turned to look back at the dead man left in the dust of the road, drifting away into the distince.

"Where did you learn to fight like that?"

"I'll explain later."

Olive looked at Lloyd's back, which she was facing on the horse, and noticed the sickle.

"OOo whats that?"

Lloyd turned slightly.

"What?"

"That curvey thingy on your back?"

"A sickle." Lloyd said quickly.

"Why-"

Olive was cut off by the knight calling out,

"Look! You can see the castle's towers. We are almost there."

Olive ignored the knight and continued on,

"Why do you have a sickle and a knife AND a staff?! Why didn't you distract the other bandits while I made my move?! I was gonna stab that one that was stupid enough to grab me with my dagger!"

"Because you seemed like an innocent, helpless little girl, and you were about to cry."

"That was an ACT!"

"Sure.. If you say so."
"Sheesh this girl must have been through some hard times to act so tough... Even though she is just faking it.." Lloyd muttered to himself.

"So where are you from and whats your name boy?"

"Lloyd, sir. I come from the Adulain plains."

"That far?"

"Yes. I've been traveling all around this country in search of adventure and a good life for me."

"Who is this girl? A friend of yours?"

"Uh... Olive. I dunno. I just met her because she was trying to steal some grain. Where are you from Olive?"

Olive looked away.

"I don't wanna talk about it."

Olive looked away.

"I don't wanna talk about it."
The knight looked down and bobbed his head slightly, in a silent chuckle.

"Well, I am sir Korben, I am an exile of the knights of the green dragon, and I am glad to have met someone as curagious as you, Lloyd, it's not everyday a fourteen year old risks his life for a little girl."

"How did you know how old I was?"

"Being trained in the fields of the Green Dragon, you learn many things, including observation. I observed signs of your age, and therefore made an accurate assumption."

"The Green Dragon? What's that? I've never heard of them," asked the young girl.

Korben looked at her through his helmets eyeholes,
"They are an order I don't expect much to know about, an order dedicated to the secret help of others, whose only goal is to purify the world of any threatening evil, as quietly as possible."

Lloyd looked up at him,
"You mentioned you where an exile? How did you come across that?"

Once again, Korben looked to the ground, but this time he did not bob his head, then he rasied his head again,
"That is a story for other times, and, shall our paths be joined for longer, many stories will I have for you."

"Sir, how do you get around so? Do you have a steed?" Asked the girl, suddenly.

"I do, and a fine steed it is, although not a horse, and I don't suppose you shall see it soon, if you where about to ask that. It will only come when called."

Lloyde looked at the walls approaching, and asked,
"It is a long journey, at least long enough to be tiring without entertainment, please, share a story with us, if you would Sir Knight"

Korben looked to his right, thinking of a good short one, then started off,
"Once upon a time, as most stories start, there was a boy, and the boy was without a family, friend, or anyone that loved him. Everyone passed him by, people he met where mean to him. One day, a group of ruffiens came and tossed him into a well, in the bottom of a well, this boy found a stone, a harmless little black pebble, shaped like an innocent teardrop. So he picked it up, and instantly it dissolved into his hand. The boy could not recall what happened after that."

"Suddenly, this boy was on top of a mountain, with a boiling pit of fire on the top of it, brewing like a witches cauldron, the boy then found this boiling fire to be rolling towards him. Given up on himself, the boy just lay there, waiting to be enveloped, watching the boiling fire getting closer. Then, just feet away, the boiling fire magicaly slid up, and over him, mor and more poured down, but the boy was protected by a dome of magic, magic that was transparent but from the ocasional trace of black light running to and fro along the dome. The boy then wanted to touch the boiling fire. he reached up, and, when he was just to touch it, the dome burst like a bubble, sending the fires everwhere, and the rest of the boiling fires continued around the boy, still protected by his dome of magic. Then, with a quick gesture of his hand, the boy vanished, no one ever say him again."

"Ah, here we are," said Lloyde," that was quite the tail, Sir Knight Korben, I wonder what hapened to that boy?"

"Oh, there are enough knights in this kingdom, please, master, call me Korben." There was more to the story Korben was hiding, the boy was found, the order had been the ones to stop him years after his dissapearence, but that was for another time.

The three approached the gates.

Jeez :) , I need to catch up; anyhoo, here goes-

Location: crossroads west of T'Ork mountains

Kal- Great, just great, we don't even know which way to go. I mean, I might as well turn myself into the Green Dragons right now!

Jake- Two things. Number one- Why do you argue at everything that goes wrong? Number two- Who are the Green Dragons?

Kal- Some sort of wishy-washy cult that seems to have something against obscure magics; all I know is that they seem to enjoy trying to go for my neck. And why do I argue? I'll tell you why, It's the only thing I'm good at!

Jake- Fine, whatever, but just because the sign broke isn't reason to go ballistic.

Kal- I'll stop when you can find out what way we're supposed to go!

Jake- This is basic, The sign is on the right side of the road, so it must have gotten knocked down by something. And if the sign is on the right side, that's the road that leads to Glintown, alright? And we don't want to go to Glintown, so we'll take the other road.

-In reality, the combination of torrential winds from the south and wood rot caused the sign to end up fallen down on the wrong side of the road-

Kal- So we go south?

Jake- In short, yes we go south.

Kal- Alright, we go south.

That's all,
-nazgul

It was the following morning. The princess, as promised, had gone to check on Rendrissa. Wilfred, in the meantime, was summoned to the throne room.

"Your Majesty," he gave Forlego a bow as he entered, "splendid day, isn't it?"

"It could be better," said Forlego seriously. "I understand the waterfront brigands got a little out of hand yesterday."

"Quite," said Wilfred. "It appears one of the ringleaders was after a magical trinket of some sort. Purely by luck, I saved the unfortunate girl who had charge of it, and brought her here."

"So I've heard," said Forlego, drily. "The merchant who was to purchase the trinket- a pendant, I believe- came up to the castle first thing this morning, claiming that he had paid for it, and the girl had stolen it."

"Lie, all lies," said Wilfred, confidently.

"I'm inclined to agree," said the King, "but it's her word against his- and he's a pretty influential merchant. Do you know Alcazire Mar-Dendr?"

"Never heard of him."

"He specializes in the trade of salt, from the far west. Wellestowne is his main terminus. The caravans from the west meet the ships from the east. He also runs, on the side, an exotic cloths shop, just north of the Old Bridge. He's not particularly well-liked by our people, but his word is beyond reproach, and he's got some clout in the business community."

"Lovely," said Sir Wilfred. "So what do we do?"

"We?" Forlego raised an eyebrow. "I'm sending YOU with this girl out of the kingdom. Get her to sanctuary in Marpleton. Harlego can shelter her better than I."

"Yes, don't want to get mixed up in local politics," nodded Wilfred. "Whereas old Harlego can do so with impunity. Mar-Dendr doesn't have any business interests in Marpleton."

"Precisely," said Forlego. "I believe the girl's story, but I need evidence if I'm to protect her. In Marpleton, as a foreign refugee, she can be safe.

"And, frankly, if Rendrissa 'disappears'- that is, takes on a new name and becomes lost to Mar-Dendr- on the way to Marpleton, that's fine with me. Just get her out of my hair."

"Right," said Wilfred, "down the road, through Robin's Pass, and on to Marpleton. Shouldn't take more than a week to get there and back. Although your daughter is going to be rather miffed at me leaving."

"Castila is going to have to get used to the idea," said the King. "I have better uses for you that just hanging around Castle Alec like a tapestry."

Location: A grove of ancient trees in the forest south-east of Mt. Oraynol.

___After staying with Reyg and his people for a few days, Berw's leg was healed, and he and Nary were leaving them. Roëd, however, was going to stay for a while. He was learning how to communicate with nature, and how to be in tune with the world. It was noon, and Berw and Nary were about to go. "Goodbye, Berw. 'Bye Nary," he said. "It's been nice knowing you. I hope I'll meet you on the road someday."
___"Goodbye, Roëd. I'll miss you. If you hadn't come with us, Berw probably wouldn't have made it down the mountain," Nary said. "I'll miss you." She hugged him, which he was quite embarrassed about, and then Berw spoke.
___"Thank you for helping me. I'm going to miss you too, Roëd. I have a feeling we will meet again, someday." He shook Roëd's hand, and then he and Nary shouldered their packs and walked off, following Ergen to the road.
___Roëd turned to Reyg and Hiwte. "Shall I begin my lessons?" he asked, and they led him into the forest.

___They followed a trickle of water, until it became a full-fledged stream. After walking for about an hour, they came to a waterfall. There were ferns on the banks and mosses growing on the rocks. "I believe that Ergen and Bule have taught you how to lift? Good. Now, lift that boulder." Hiwte pointed at a large boulder in the middle of the stream, and Roëd waded over to it and lifted it up with ease. Under it, there was a tunnel. Reyg and Hiwte walked through the stream and entered the tunnel, Roëd carefully following them and setting the boulder down again.
___They followed the tunnel for about five minutes, and then it emerged in a green vale. "Where are we?" asked Roëd in wonderment.
___"We are at the Glade of Loé. It is sunken into the ground, and hidden by an outcropping of unscalable rock," replied Reyg. "Here you shall begin your training in heightening your senses. We shall leave you here, and you shall call out all that you perceive. With each day, you should notice more." He and Hiwte crossed the glade and sat on a stone bench. "Begin!" cried Reyg.
___"I hear...I hear five different kinds of birds, and I see that there are several of each, though I know not how many exactly. I see that they are in both the trees and on the ground. There are also a few rabbits, both above and under the ground. I hear crickets, and grasshoppers, and other insects. I see green grass and moss covered rocks and pear trees, and elms, and holly. I believe I feel moles underground, but I'm not sure," Roëd called. "What have I missed?"
___Hiwte called back, "There are many things, of course, but you have done remarkably well for your first day. In time, you will know the sound of each individual animal, the feel of each blade of grass, and the sight of each grain of dirt. But you have done enough for today." Coming back over to Roëd, Hiwte and Reyg led him back through the tunnel, and he lifted the rock and stepped into the stream. When he had set the boulder back again and joined them on the bank, he noticed that Hiwte's dress and Reyg's robe were not wet. When he asked them, they replied that he would learn that art as well.

ZIGGY! wrote: “Only eleven of us now” thought Zeileg glumly “and no doubt there’ll be less before we get out of this fix!”
- Three dwarves leaped into view, the first had wild hair and a braided beard, there were two behind him whose features couldn’t be seen in the darkness. They each carried a round shield and an ax.
- “Charge!” The first dwarf cried. With yelling and howling the dwarves raised their axes and ran, several more dwarves emerged from behind stones, carrying axes or swords.
- “Soldiers, make a circle, don’t let them hit you, Zeileg get in the air, cut down the leader!” Sir Gelb barked orders as he pointed his sword at a sword totting dwarf. As the soldiers scrambled towards each other the dwarves cut down a spearman.
- “Blast it only eight soldiers left” thought Sir Gelb “Well at least they lose a dwarf!”
- Suddenly a fire ball about head size erupted from the tip of Sir Gelb’s sword. “Wham” the ball slammed into the dwarf’s chest, instantly felling him. Meanwhile a blue aura had been spreading from Zeileg’s ax tips around his body. “Yahoo” he cried leaping over a dwarf’s head, “Look out ugly, here I come!”
- He quickly dove down and crushed another dwarf’s helmet, knocking him out.The soldiers on the other hand were not doing so well, they were down to only seven now, and had felled one dwarf to Gelb’s three. ”Now comes the big boy!” thought Zeileg, charging at the leader. He raised his axes into attack position when the dwarf turned around, “Aha” cried the dwarf, parrying the blow with his shield. He then lunged forward with his ax but Zeileg caught it in between his own. The two dueled as the battle raged around them, the soldiers had broken up and only six remained they were now moving down the path. Sir Gelb battled furiously, launching fireballs every few minutes. He realized they would have to run soon and that they would have to reach Wellestowne a different way. Zeileg had almost knocked down the chief dwarf when a distant rumble began. “Dwarves, off the path, we’re crushing these fools!” -The dwarves scrambled up the side of the path with ease and now Sir Gelb could see boulders upon boulders rolling towards them.
- “Soldiers run, watch for archers and get down the mountain. Zeileg put that flat stone here, then get in the air and see what you can do to help those soldiers!” Zeileg quickly placed the nearby rock near his mentor, wondering what he was thinking. Then, he summoned up his aura and flew off after the spearmen.
- Sir Gelb stood in the middle of the path, sword at the ready, and concentrating deeply on it. The boulders rumbled nearer but he just stood there. Zeileg looked back at his mentor and the boulders nearly upon him. Next second Gelb grunted and there was a big flash of light around him. The dwarves stared in awe as a shield of heat protruded out of the knight’s sword melting the stones as they touched.
- But now a new problem arose, a wall of lava was beginning to build up against the shield. The dwarves began cheering but Sir Gelb looked confident, he stepped onto the stone then raised his sword a fraction. The lava began to slowly flow under the shield soon a steady wave began and the “surf stone” was picked up and washed down, leaving the dwarves howling in rage.
- Several minutes later Sir Gelb came surfing down to the bottom of the mountain. Sir Zeileg had picked off the dwarf archers but they still got one soldier the rest had made it safely down. Now Sir Gelb came surfing into view on a wave of lava. After the others helped the exhausted Sir Gelb out of the small pool formed by the wave he immediately fell asleep (Powerful Magic can be very exhausting).
- “We will have to find out the plan tomorrow” said Zeileg “We may as well go to sleep now.”

As they slept they were unaware of a lone approaching figure. He walked silently, and the guards on duty did not see or hear him. He was dressed in dark brown, and carried a staff in his right hand.

Suddenly, the guards couldn't move. Then they saw, coming out of the darkness into the dim light of the dyeing fire, they saw him.

"What have you done to my friends?" he asked, releasing them.

The guards set off an alarm as soon as they were free. All of the remaining soldiers and knights, not Sir Gelb, he was too tired, jumped up. Sir Zeileg at once started to charge to man. He raised his axe (he only had one at the moment) for the death-blow, but suddenly the axe left his had, and sailed right to the man. Not knowing anything else to do, Sir Zeileg stopped dead in his tracks.

"Young fool!" laughed the man. "Do you really think that you could defeat me?"

"Well, sir," answer a rather taken-aback Zeileg. "I have a mentor that is only one of the best knights in the known world.'

"Ha!" answered the man, laughing even louder. "Knights! All they know about is honor, glory, and getting women through these things!'

"That is not true," reproached Sir Zeileg. "His name is Sir Gelb and..."

"I know who this Gelb person is. But tell me, were is he now?" was the man's reply

"He is over there," stated Zeileg. "He has saved us from a great peril. You see..." Here he was cut off by the mysterious man.

"I'll bet I know what happened," He interrupted. "You were facing a group of about 30 men. He sent a wave of arrows, and then slashed down the rest with his sword."

This time it was Zeileg's turn to interrupt. "No. First of all it wasn't m..."

"Silence!" thundered the man. "Just tell me, where are the other two."

"Other two?" replied Zeileg. "I do not understand."

"The two that you did not kill. A man and a woman, where are they?" was the man's answer to this. "Vrutran tried to kill me, because he wanted to be the leader, so I left."

"I see," was Gelb's reply. "Now what are you doing here?"

At this time, they both heard a moan. It was Sir Gelb getting up. "What is the meaning of this?" he demanded.

"This man thinks we attacked some of his friends." Zeileg told Gelb.

"Yes." stated the man coolly. "I found their bodies not to far from here. Right after this, I saw your fire, so I came to look."

"Well," replied Sir Gelb. "Unless the mountain dwarves are your friends, we have not met them on this trek."

At this point, the man swept back his hood. "Pirnethr!" exclaimed Gelb. "Where have you been? Many have been sent to seek you in our plight against the Silver-Hawks, but all came back saying they could not find you."

"I have joined the Uneben Stamm." was Pirnethr's reply.

A Campsite One Day's walk outside Wellestown

The Traveler looked in his pack.

"Why is the turkey always gone?" he said aloud, though he traveled alone.

Giving up on the turkey temporarily, he ate a some old sourdough bread crusts from his pack, and decided it was high time he replenished his stock, which could only mean one thing: it was time to visit the Forestmen on the other side of Robin's Pass. As he was traveling to Wellestown already, at the behest of King Forlego himself, this wouldn't take him too far out of his way, and what culinary delights awaited him at the Forestmen's camp! His mouth watered at the though of long tables laden with food and drink, soon to be his.

The Traveler would eat turkey tonight.

Location: Somewhere south of the Berger pass in the forest west of the T'Ork Mountains.

___Starcloak awoke with a knife at his throat. He'd been sleeping in what he thought was an abandoned farmhouse, just west of the T'Orks. He presumed it had been left because of the proximity to the mountains, where bandits abounded. The first thing he did was reach for his own knife, and when he couldn't find it, he realized the terrible truth. Whoever it was was holding Starcloak's knife, and he could die instantly from the smallest cut. He very slowly turned his head towards the attacker. He was so surprised to see a young woman holding the knife that he almost jumped. Luckily, he didn't, or he would've died. "Who are you?" he asked.
___The young woman replied, "I think you'd better tell me who you are first."
___"Starcloak at your service, ma'am," he answered slowly.
___"Well, you don't talk like those bandits, but you might be a spy," she said. "And what kind of a name is Starcloak anyway?"
___"You're right about one thing, I'm a spy, but not for the bandits. I work for the king, Starcloak is a code name," he said in reply.
___"What king? Oh, you mean Forlego, over the mountains. Well, you're in Duke Harlego's lands now." The young woman said. She still hadn't moved the knife away from his throat.
___"Yes, I know. I was going home for a rest when I stopped here for the night. Could you be careful with that knife? The blade is poisoned, you know, and if it so much as breaks my skin, I'll be dead, and you'll be a murderer," Starcloak said, trying not to betray his fear through his voice.
___"Don't worry. This isn't your knife. That's over there," she pointed to a table, where he saw his flasks and vials, as well as his rope and knife. "I'm not stupid enough to not have a knife of my own, or to use an enemy's without inspecting it. You can sit up now," she moved the blade along with his neck as he sat. "Now for my name. I am Ledindry Gaija, of the ancient clan for whom the river and forest are named—" she stopped as she noticed a look of pain on his face. "What's wrong?"
___"Nothing, just a bad memory. Go on," Starcloak said.
___"Well, anyway, this was my parents farm, until they left. I was captured by the bandits, and though they tried to rescue me, the farmers around here couldn't. In payback for trying to attack them, the bandits burned the fields around here and drove away the farmers, including my parents and older sister. I only escaped from them last week, and I've been living here. I haven't been able to get away though, since I don't have a horse," Ledindry said.
___"How about you leave with me? I'll take you wherever you want," Starcloak said.
___"Sure you will, straight to the bandits," Ledindry replied. "Why should I trust you? I could just take the horse anyway."
___"No, you couldn't. My horse will only move if I say so, besides, you don't need to trust me. You could just ride behind me and keep the knife at my throat until we get where you want, then let me go. You can escape, I can keep my horse, and more importantly, my life. Now, how about it?"
___"All right," she said warily, "but any trouble, and—," she made a cutting motion across his neck with her finger. "Stay there," she said, and walked over to the table with his things, packing them into a bag which she put on her shoulder. "Now let's go."
___Starcloak walked out the door and into the stable. He was about to lift the saddle onto Bonavi, his horse, when Ledindry stopped him. She searched the saddle and bridle for hidden weapons, then nodded to him. He resumed putting them on the horse. After a few minutes, he was ready to go. She told him to go back into the house, and she followed him. She packed some food into the bag and they went back outside. Climbing onto the horse, Ledindry gestured for Starcloak to do the same. Clucking to Bonavi, Starcloak started them on their journey south.

“I’ve heard of it what exactly do you do there?”

“We are a group of families living together, supporting one another, and sometimes performing tasks for the sake of good.”

“So you would help us battle against our enemy?”

“I cannot promise anything, however I shall keep you in mind. For now I must seek out these missing people. If you come across anyone of the Uneben Stamm please tell them that we are searching for them.”

“Most certainly Pirnethr we shall do what we can.”

Zeileg once again began to speak. “Do you know who has assaulted your friends?” he asked. “My only thought now other than bandits is the Silver-Hawks” Pernethr replied. “I shall investigate that. So Sir Gelb where are you heading now?”

“We shall go through the woods.”

“I suggest you start from the old village, and move swiftly towards Wellestowne, I would send a guide but there is no time. I have decided to do a full investigation of the Hawks recent actions.”

“Fair well then, but shall you be helping or not?”

“We shall see dear knight, we shall see. For now I must go, make haste and hopefully all will be cleared soon, remember to keep an eye out for any members and we shall remember thee.”

With a swish of his cloak the wizard disappeared into the darkness.

“We shall sleep now and discuss plans tomorrow, I wish you a good night.” Almost instantly Sir Gelb was back asleep.
