I wrote:Vbana, the little fire-drakes, and the phoenixes were all assembled on the edge of the lava lake. Once more, Quolde clambered onto the great dragon's back and strapped himself in. He gave a whistle, and the convoy of firey creatures took flight and headed for their new home, wherever it was.
Location: Somewhere over the Taurus range.
___Vbana flew east over the Taurus Mountains at a brisk pace, the drakes and phoenixes following, and occasionally landing to rest on, the great red dragon. Quolde, from his strapped-in perch between Vbana's twin rows of back spines, surveyed the clouds above and around him, trying to forecast the weather; a skill he had never quite mastered. Craning his neck around, he shouted to the dragon, "Land on the coast, will you? I don't think it'd be a good idea to fly over the ocean tonight. We'll wait out the storm and continue to search for a new home tomorrow."
___<Storm?> asked Vbana. <What are you talking about? Those clouds are not the kind that will cause rain.> The dragon snorted; a stream of hot air issued from his nose and cut through the vapor. <If you insist on predicting the weather, there is an entry on it in that book of yours. I suggest you read it.>
___Quolde sniffed. "I can tell the weather just fine, thank you. See? It's raining." He waved his wand, and a few half-hearted droplets formed on Vbana's head, where they soon steamed away into nothingness.
___<Ha, ha,> Vbana said flatly. <Now let me fly.>
___About an hour later, they landed in the forest, just ten minutes' walk from the beach. Quolde quickly unstrapped himself and climbed off of the dragon's back. He cast a few spells of illusion on the fire creatures, so that they camouflaged with the surrounding greenery, then constructed a lean-to out of fallen branches. This done, he crawled inside for short nap, but was interrupted by the sound of running and frightened shouts, as well as Vbana's thoughts nagging him to come outside.
___Grumbling, Quolde went back outside and saw that a few of the drakes had surrounded a middle-aged man, who was glancing around nervously. "What've you caught?" Quolde asked.
___<A bounty hunter, apparently,> Vbana said. The man looked around for the source of the strange sound, and, seeing Vbana, promptly fainted.
___"Hmm...," Quolde said. "You there, drake, take him away from here, and make sure he doesn't wake up before you're gone. I don't want him to know where we are." The drake he had pointed to nodded enthusiastically and picked up the man gently with its jaws, then spread its wings and flew off into the forest. "Where did he come from, Vbana? He was running; I want to see what from."
___The dragon pointed his temporarily green head in the direction of the ocean. <There.>
___"Thank you," Quolde said. He took his wand out of the lean-to, and waved it over himself, changing his appearance to that of an aged Bull peasant, then set off towards the beach.
