I'm sure Brickworld is the same. It was this year.

Is price of the con really an issue? By the time you pay for transport, accommodation, food and spending money the actual cost of the con can be almost meaningless. I went to BrickCon in Seattle and paid something like 10x the amount of the registration on everything else. :)

Hmm... that's a good point actually. One thing we all tend to overlook when considering these cons is the large price of housing and food (especially when you go to nice restaurants with you friends, both old and just made). I've seen this happen many times with business/job related cons I've gone to.

Be sure you've got enough to cover all the expenses, and a nice little cushion too... you'll probably need some of it! :)

$60.00 for BrickFair

I was looking at the Brickfair site and that price is only for the "attendees", who wish to do all the hands on activities.
The price for the general public (to view all the displays) is $10.

Does anyone have a link to the Brickworld website (if there is one?)
I tried typing it in the internet explorer search "brickworld.com" and it took me to a spam advertising site.

Is price of the con really an issue?

Yes. I will only be attending for one day (most likely Chicago Brickworld because I can drive there) and I just want to see all the displays and mocs, I don't need to participate in any of the exclusive acitivities.
So I would like to know the price for Chicago Brickworld, to just enter and see the displays.

Be sure you've got enough to cover all the expenses, and a nice little cushion too... you'll probably need some of it!

I'll save some extra money so I can buy custom parts from people.
For those of you that have been to these conventions, are there usually some people selling custom parts? Like brickforge parts?

Ah, two different conversations getting mixed up. I was talking about choosing between cons but obviously you have made the choice already for good reason.

I don't know what those cons will be like but I would never dream of just going for the public expo portion. There is soo much more going on for full attendees and besides, don't you wanna build something, even a small something, and add it to a display? :)

Last year at BrickWorld, Brickforge, Little Armory, and BrickArms were all there. Plus there are some lego stores nearby. Also, I heard there was a Bricklink store set up there too.

If I had the money for either one, or better yet for both. I would go.

babyjawa: What do mean when you say "Lego store nearby"? Your talking about at brickworld, and not just in the general area, right? If you are talking about the general area I dont think there is one. I live an hour from DC, and have relatives there, so I go there all the time and I have never found a lego store before. The lego website dosen't say there's one either.

I'm no expect, since I don't live there and you do, but I understand there is a store at Tyson's Corner. That's close isn't it?

Yeah, it's in Arlington, which is indeed close. Do Lego stores in the area offer discounts or something in honor of the convention?

I think the VA store is close, but I've never been there.

There are 2 LEGO stores in the DC area (I've shopped at both) and they are indeed listed on the LEGO website (which is where I just got the following info):

LEGO Outlet
2700 Potomac Mills Circle

Woodbridge, VA. 22192
Phone: (703) 490-1335

Is it too late to vote? Brickworld '08 Chicago would be my vote.
There are three Lego stores in Chicagoland, all of them a reasonable distance from each other.
