Well, regardless of space constraints we can still get some ideas down. Here's what's crossed my mind in the last 8 months...
- Last BrickCon we didn't plan a whole lot of landscaping and I think it worked well. Thomas and I had enough Base8 compatible road and river sections to throw something together on the spot pretty effectively. I'll be bringing as much pre-made Base8 as I usually do and I encourage others to try out the standard and build a few modules. Something as simple as a road and a hill always does a lot for the overall look of things.
- As far as planned features, the last couple cons I've been to there have been multiple snow-themed castle mocs. If this is going to be the case this year, how about a mountain snow-scape? A lot of my BURPs are probably going to go into a moonbase module (shh) but I'm expecting to have a few left over, maybe enough to build up a raised section if somebody else could help out. Mountain battle anyone? Oh, and is anybody bringing boats? Last year we didn't have any lakes or oceans, so should make sure and note that if we need it.
- Battles. I'm all for trying to top BF07's epic. Last year though somebody tossed the idea around of having multiple battles interspersed around the table, like adventurers fighting a dragon, skeleton horde ambush, and the classic rival faction lineup. I kinda like this.
- Apart from a main layout I had this idea: I recently came into possession of a big bag of classic yellow-era knights. Was thinking it might be cool to have a time-warp yellow-era display. I know at least one *cough*Richard*cough* member who I'm sure would love to do something like this. Maybe this could be our competition; have an award for the best yellow-era themed moc, reasonable exception allowed for newer pieces but styled to look like something out of an early 80s
idea book.
