Well, I (and therefore Thomas) am still a Tentative yes, but I will be involved with another diorama as well (if I do end up coming). I hope to have a new castle segment done, but I've been terribly bogged down and not building at all lately, so we'll see... :wink:

(I hate to be wishy-washy for so long, but it can't really be helped at this point...)

Brendan, I am sorry to hear that. You have been the glue that has tied together a string of incredible displays going back to NWBC '06. I do hope things can come together and allow you to come.

@Wunz boys, that is good news! I'll take even a maybe yes right about now.

For those of you coming I do have more information. The layout of the hall looks nearly identical to 2007. We're in the same hall even. We will have all the room we could want.

BrickFest has always been more about community than public expo, and we will have some great surprise community building activities for everyone to join in. We really want to focus more on the comraderie of being with fellow builders this con. I want to recapture the wonder and joy of my first convention. We're looking to inject some "summer camp-ness" into things. You know; get away from life for a few days, focus on a great fun hobby, make new friends, and get to know old friends better, show off creations to an adoring public. If anyone has any ideas that could help us get there please PM me. Even if you aren't going we may use your idea and let you know what comes of it. I already have some cool ideas, but I want to hear more.

OK. more to come soon. This weekend I'll share some ideas. Except for Super Sunday, football supersedes Lego for that day.

I am both happy and sad to announce that my wife and I will be having a baby boy being induced on March 27th.------This is the good part.

We were hoping that she would be induced early in the week and that I coud then take the kids down to grandmas house 45 min south of Portland and I could go to Brickfest. this would give Mom and baby a weekend to rest with out the other three. Now the bad part, because baby will be born on the 27th the first day of the convention I will not be able to go. I will send a fig for the shoot but will not be able to even make an apperance.

I am at this time planning on being at brickcon this fall however. See y'all there.

Congrats on bringing a new life into this world Merlin Of Lego, It'll be sad not to get to see you but I think I speak for everybody when I say it's a pretty dang good excuse.

Good luck with the delivery and all the subsequent adventures that will no doubt follow.

We hope to see you eventually.

Yay for baby!

And your kids ARE adorable, so one more is totally welcome. :)

For other attendees:

I'm more than willing to try and organize another Photoshoot, but are there enough of you going to make the figs?

I will help in any and every way I can, Caylin. I don't have tons of fig parts, but enough that I can make or help make some for it.

Congrats Bradley!

Some News;
-There will be a “museum” with sets from different decades. If you have an older set (pre 1990) that you’d like to display (not only castle, but what else do we have?) think about bringing it.
-There will be a castle session called “What’s next?” I’d like to explore the next step in castle con displays. Bring your ideas please!

For those who are coming, please post here to let me know what you intend to bring so I can begin to piece the display together, or PM if you want your MOC to be a surprise.

Here’s my “big picture” idea for the display; a good side with fair castles, green forests, grass lands and so on. Opposing it will be a bad guy side with fearsome fortresses, deserts, and spider-infested woods. Between will be confrontation(s) between these forces. I can see a straight forward battles over here, as well as a wizard battle over there, and all sorts of other possibilities.

What other ideas do you have? We will most likely be without our “Glue Man” Brendan. So we will need a great deal of baseplates in the BPB mode, and well as water and landscaping elements.

Though we will be sans some of the group from the now-legendary NWBC ’06 display, we have a number of great Portland area builders coming. I’m really excited for the new blood to come in and add their flavor. This is going to be a great con!

I plan on bringing the display I intended to bring to NWBrickCon 08:

O = Ocean
M = Moat
B = Black Castle
G = Grass
R = River

# = Road
X = 88x72 module
* = New stuff I will add
Take a look here for an idea of what my stuff looks like.

I need to review this a bit. I've got lots of blue baseplate, so I can provide more water. I'm not sure how much building time I will get before the fest, so I won't be able to reconfigure this too much. but the unfilled area should be pretty easy for other people's stuff to fill into.

I'll be bringing something like a fort IF I make it. Me and Chris are working on that.

The base should be around 64*64. I don't want to reveal too much about it, and I haven't even started it, but it will be a sort of protector for something inside of it (other than people and such things).

Richard, I'll send you some pictures of it once it gets under way.

Welp,

I'm coming!!! (that means Thomas is too, BTW!) I have some obligations to another display, but I will be able to at least bring a bunch of filler (buildings, farm, baseplates, maybe some CCC wall, etc). I am unsure if I will have a larger display section for castle, or not, I'll keep you all posted.

As far as "museum sets" I do have a BUNCH of complete, older sets. Let me know what sets you need, and I'll try to work that out. Most of mine are Classic Castle sets, but I do have quite a few other themes as well! How many i bring depends on the space I'll have, and how soon you let me know what ones you need from me!

Caylin: I will have as much of my fig stuff there as I can cram in, so let me know if you need help with filing the fig shoot.

Well, that's about it for now. WOOT, I do get to come after all!!!

With everything taken into consideration, at this time, I'm thinking we'll do just an "attendee" Photoshoot with the figs. It's just not going to work out to do the large scale shoot we've done in the past.

To the rest of Classic-Castle, I am sorry. I'll be heading one for BrickCon.

Thanks all for understanding.

I'm scheduled for surgery (minor; nothing to be concerned about) on March 31st, with recovery for a week, followed by jury duty, so I can't take any more time off from work for BrickFest this year. :cry:

Have fun everyone! Maybe I can send a cow or something with Darkie to include in the display...

You'll be missed, Andrew. :( But it's totally understandable.

If there's any MOCs you need to be transported, lemme know. I'd be happy to take em down and watch them for you.

Hey all! I'm pretty sure I'll be there, an would love to help out with the display. I used to be a castler, and now I'm wanting to get back into it. Let me know if certain aspects need to be built, and I'll start working on that.

Andrew, that news stinks for us. Oh! and get better soon and all that :wink:

Vid-Read back a few posts and you'll see what we are aiming at. Basically, good on one side, evil on the other, landscaping filled with battle in between. So, build what you think can fit in there. PM me with some ideas.

All- I had an idea at work today, we need a village being pillage. So think about building a vig-ish sized MOC with a Pillage the Village theme. This little village can come together pretty easily. You know, Vikings attack the church and are seen carrying out a TV and other anachronistic stuff. Make it BPB base 8 compatable and build away
