Hey all,

Lowlug members, including Aliencat, Stuifzand, Jalkow and Mockingbird, put on a big castle display at Oss the past weekend.

Perhaps one of them, or another of our Dutch members, could give further details about this event and who built what, etc.

Ah you found my folder already.
I was in the process of writing a photo report actually :D

I'll start with this Youtube video of the layout :)

Here's a Youtube video by Mahjqa, of building up and taking down the layout, sped up 250x.

As for what's who's, here goes:

The fancy castle with the red turrets is Stuifzand's, and so is the watermill, along with all the land between and around those 2 buildings.
The big castle in the middle is MOCkingbird's, as well as the big windmill. The land between and around those 2 main buildings, as well as the bridge between them are also hers.
The trading village on the farside is Jalkow's, as is the harbour on the other side of it.
Lastly, the big fortified church is mine, along with the apocalyptic battlefield between it and Jalkow's village, and the little blue dwarven house.

We didn't work with any base module sizes, so we planned each of our bits specifically for this layout to fit with the 4 of us, allowing us to make more the landscape look more natural and not built up out of square modules.
For example, in this picture, the bridge and the water it spans over is Jalkow's, but the curve in the river in front of that is mine. There's no straight square system to it. That also makes for a nice curvy river, paths, and so forth. I was the one "in charge" of most of the puzzeling it all together and planning where one module would end and the next start, and I'm quite proud of how it all fit together in the end :)

I really had an awesome time making a Castle layout with these three super excellent builders!

Awesome work Sebastian! Let me stress that this is one of the best group displays I have ever seen. Rarely do the MOCs of four different builders come togther so naturally. Most displays seem quite incoherent with a variety of individual building techinques and no overlying theme. This display is so seemless that I've got to know how you guys planned it out. Were any of the MOCs built before you started panning or were most of them built specifically for the display?

The amazing thing is you guys all have such distinct styles, yet your buildings fit together well. I was wondering if you had ever considered making a single modular castle with your fellow members? The way the display looks, it almost seems like Stuifzand's castle could plug into the front of your fortified church with MOCkingbird's castle attached to the cliff face to create an even larger structure. With the way Lowlug works so well together I was curious if you guys had ever considered something like that?

Again, awesome work.

Thanks Blueandwhite!

They were all built specifically for this display, after we had planned the whole thing on "paper".

That's a great idea! I will have to suggest this as a community build once I've caught my breath from this one ;)

I already saw this on B-shelf. Great job all together! It's high time I become a lowLUG member! :D
I really like the distinctive styles of you all.

Ah, I had so much fun building this. This was my first MOC for a layout ever, (and, if you don't count the Lowlugmeetings, my first MOC for a 'reallife' audience) and it was much fun to make. The best part however, was putting it all together. I was afraid something wouldn't fit, that I had made a misscount or something. In just an hour or two the whole landscape came together, as you can see in this movie, by Mahjqa.

The little marketplace is mine, as Bruce's post says. More pictures are soon to come, I haven't unpacked my boxes, after this weekend. Special thanks to MOCkingBird, Aliencat and Stuifzand, some of the best Dutch castle MOC'ers I know, I had a great time.

This awesome castle display inspired me to order alot of parts from BL to make a castle and village
surrounding it :) . ( I don't have many pieces to start with though  )

It is wonderful Aliencat :D
(I wish I was as talented as MOCkingbird :D )
I can't beleive how everything flows so smoothly inbetween modules and the sections different people made :spin:
