Hey all,

Last week was LEGO WORLD in Zwolle, in the Netherlands, the largest annual LEGO event in the world. Here's a thread to link galleries from this event. Hopefully some of our members who were there can regale us with tales of times had and bricks built. Seb, I'm talkin' to you.

Yeah I got the hint ;)

LEGO World was big as usual, huge I mean. As you can see Castle was adequately represented in multiple layouts by a few different clubs. BeLUG had a very cool Castle layout right in the middle of the hall, across from which FreeLUG also had a Castle area, and there were numerous smaller Castle layouts throughout the venue put down by members of our own De Bouwsteen.
I might get scolded, but my theme of choice this year was City ;)

LEGO World for me is a very busy event, because I'm the LEGO Ambassador for De Bouwsteen, the club that co-hosts the event. I'm not directly involved in organizing the event, but it is an opportunity for many of our members to get together, and the social rush that comes with that is beyond awesome but leaves you absolutely exhausted for at least a week after the event ;)

I'll try to give you the names of at least the clubs that put down which Castle bits, to the best of my knowledge:

Moving temple by Peer "Mahjqa" Kreuger, his entry for the Micro Castle Contest.

Castle layout by FreeLUG. Unfortunately I don't know who built what, maybe some of our FreeLUG members here on Classic-Castle can fill in the blanks here? It basically spans from that evil black fortified gate that you see, via some great castles and a cool medieval village, to the other end which has this awesome castle that I've seen come by here on CC before but can't seem to find now.

A town building that's particularly interesting for Castle Builders is this replica of the Wijnhuistoren by Hans Koreman. It's a famous building in the Dutch town Zutphen, where Hans Koreman is from.

Castle Layout, I am very embarrassed to say that I forgot the guy's name, I hope he doesn't read this ;) I will update this with name and link as soon as possible!

Big Castle Layout put down by BeLUG. I hope Castlestrike666, being a member on this forum, can give some more details on who built which bit. I know of a few bits who built them, but I don't exactly where they end and the next part starts, and who built the rest. It has a lot of awesome details which can be more closely examined in this folder.

As for times had, good times :)
I was sharing a stand with the same group of guys that we shared a stand with last year, with three news guys that came to join us: Jeroen van Bommel and Ingmar Spijkhoven were both new to LEGO World, and Classic-Castle's very own Yaron "Eyerod" Dori also travelled up from Israel and attended LEGO World with some awesome MOCs!

This same group that we had a stand with, also shared a bungalow in the area to sleep and drink excessively in, and going to bed at 3 in the morning was no rarity. Unfortunately we had to get up at 6:30 every morning, to be able to take turns in the shower and still be out of the house by 7:30 to get to the venue. So by the end of LEGO World we were all more zombie than human. Many beers and Pina Coladas were harmed during these late nights.

Public hours were each day from 10:00 - 17:00 (10 am to 5 pm for... whoever), there were no additional evening public hours like there were last year. The evenings were reserved for doing AFOLs-among-eachother stuff, like contests, presentations from LEGO staff, round-table sessions, and so on. There were also discounted LEGO shopping times and LEGO auctions in some of the evenings.

I can't tell you how many people I talked to in one week's time, because my brain is unable to comply with a request for any number or even a guesstimate, but you don't care either way. LEGO World was once again an absolutely awesome week, and both a physical and social rush that left my head spinning for a week (today is exactly one week ago since the last day of LEGO World). You guys all need to come next year.

This one is from Eric Létang. He got inspiration with LotR.

This castle built by Pierre Charles is a reconstitution of a famous french castle, Quéribus

The village was mainly done by Emmanuel Bonnard, with some addition from others participants (like the different versions of the medieval market). It was previously shown at Kultiverse

As Bruce said, this castle is mine. I presented it the first time at LEGOWorld 2003, 6 years ago ! This fourth exhibition for this castle in 6 years will be probably the last one, as bricks start to be yellowed, and, well, it's time to make something new :)

Otherwise, Sebastiaan made a good summary of the exhausting days (and nights) we could have at LW. We definitely to have a drink together the next time at the bungalows :D

Sure thing, I'm at LEGO World every year and I'm not hard to find. Bring some nice French wines and I'll bring cheap Dutch beer
