A new AFOL convention called BrickMagic is on its way! May 7th - 9th at the North Raleigh Hilton in Raleigh, NC. Check out the website http://www.brickmagic.org for more details -- there's lots of neat things including having Nathan Sawaya doing a live build over the weekend!

As for castle, there are some neat things already planned, but we still need more! So come on out and join the fun at the first AFOL convention to hit North Carolina, presented by Joe Meno & BrickJournal.

Sandy Cash (i.e. the guy who built Brickistan -- winner of BrickFair's best in show & best castle) has volunteered to be the castle coordinator, so I'll let him chime in with organizing the rest, but I wanted to get the ball rollling... it's only a month away!

Register now and start building~!

Many thanks to Joe E ("Joe Cool" to many) for the above announcement. I've been too buried with work to have done much to date, but I really do hope to see some good castle builds at BrickMagic. I would be particularly interested in seeing other builders tackle non-European "castle," which could include anything from the Far East to, well, things like Brickistan. If there are enough submissions, in fact, I'd like to have the displays divided roughly between "traditional" castle and "other." Perhaps the new PoP theme will get the creative juices flowing?

If you are planning on attending, please feel free to drop me an email or note in whatever form you like with the rough theme and size of your display.

Thanks,

-Sandy

BUMP...

(I hope bumping threads isn't verboten here.)

For any of you planning on (or interested in) attending this year's inaugural BrickMagic in Raleigh, NC, just under three weeks remain and the organizer, Joe Meno (well-known to many as the editor of BrickJournal (http://www.brickjournal.com), has not yet received much information about submissions and space requirements. If you are interested in attending with a display, please send your space requirements (regardless of genre) to Joe at:

registration@brickmagic.org

If you are planning a Castle display (or something tangentially related), you can send your space needs (linear units, studs, baseplates are all fine as units of measure) to me, either via a private message here or at:

scarlet.tanager@gmail.com

I'm hoping to see as many of you as possible at BrickMagic - May 8-9 at the North Raleigh Hilton in Raleigh, NC! Link: http://www.brickmagic.org

(Oh, Nathan Sawaya will be on hand with some creations and to do some live builds.)

Best,

-Sandy

I won't be able to make it to BrickMagic, but I found this line really funny. :D
