I've finally cleared some time from my calendar to work on a proper castle MOC, and I'm really excited. Can't wait to see what all you crazy builders are going to bring as well!JoshWedin wrote:Woohoo! There seems to be a lot of excitement about the layout this year. I'm getting stoked!
Mine is in the process of being boxed up to mail out next week (waiting for payday..you know?). I'm way excited too. I think I'll probably spend a huge amount of Thursday putting it all together...got a lot of details to put in place..and two HUGE (of almost all TAN) boxes that will need to be emptied.I'm almost done with my desert MOC for BrickCon I can't wait!
Its the cost of the mailing and the shear size of the boxes...I have 21x21x21 inch box and a 17x17x17 inch box heading out there..packed to the brim each.I can't imagine the nightmare of mailing them.
Just out of curiosity, how do folks generally manage this? If you're not local, what destination do you use as a recipient for the shipment? (I'm in the Seattle area, so I just throw some stuff in the car and head across the bridge each day; I haven't had to manage flying with or shipping big LEGO projects.)Bluesecrets wrote:Its the cost of the mailing and the shear size of the boxes...I have 21x21x21 inch box and a 17x17x17 inch box heading out there..packed to the brim each.I can't imagine the nightmare of mailing them.
Sometimes you can ship to your hotel, sometimes you can ship to a really really really really good friend who lives there, and other times people at the con are really really really really nice and let you ship to them and they bring it to your table for you, but you have to figure out how you get it back.Just out of curiosity, how do folks generally manage this? Hahahaha...see I'd try that but I don't think I have a suitcase big enough for this layout this time. That and I watched them throwing my suitcase onto a plane once. Not to even speak of the fact that any of what I have built this time would totally put me over the 50 pound suitcase limit...extra fees...boo luggage fees.I just stick everything in my suitcase, find a suitcase full of loose pieces when I arrive, and start building again
Sounds good. Sooner the better.BiggerJim wrote:Josh, I hope to have some stuff built as well. I'll get you size and such asap....
Just don't do what Aliencat does. He builds things and leaves them at home. At least he says he builds them....CreativeAnarchy wrote:Still not sure how I'm going to transport all of it.
