CC Dinner Meetup 2011

Hey, CCer's.

I has an idea. (Why yes, I did just use lolspeak. What of it?)

The past few years we've frequented T.S. McHughes for the CC dinner, and I propose an adventurous idea. The Monorail runs around $4 roundtrip, and lets off at 5th and Pine, give or take. Which is a mere six blocks from Hard Rock Cafe.

I suggest we go to the Hard Rock this year. It's a bit pricier then our normal fare, but the food is better. And who doesn't love an adventure?

Yay? Nay? Lemme know your thoughts! I'd need a headcount so I can hopefully make a reservation. Friday @5 should get us back to the center in time for the Keynote.

[Edit: I realize that I was entirely presumptuous, and failed to mention that this will be Friday, 9/30, @5:00--during BrickCon!]

My past experiences with Hard Rock Cafe have revolved around not being able to talk to anyone because the music was too loud. This may not be a problem, but if it was it would make a very awkward meetup. P:

A valid point. This particular HRC wasn't too bad last time I was there. If it's a large enough group they might have a small room or something. I'll see when I talk to them.

Then again, loud music or not, it still may be the quietest part of BrickCon. ;)

I shall swing this by my Dad and Sister and I'll see what they have to say, but it sounds like something I'd love to do. So tenativly put my down for 3.

I've also never had a good meal at Hard Rock, combination of overtaxed service and iffy menu. For the same money there are a ton of great resturaunts in Northern Seattle. McMinimin's is a block away from the convention site if we're all over 21.

Unfortunately we aren't, because MicMinimin's has good food. We've always gone to TS McHugh's in the past but Caylin is trying to mix it up a bit.

There's the over 21 thing to consider, and also, diet requirements; I know a number of us going have allergies or other stuff that requires specific type menus, which bar-food (like McMenimins) just can't deliver on.

There are other restaurants down near Pike Place; I'm open to suggestions if the restaurant can accommodate pepper-allergies, gluten allergies, and vegetarians. :)

Thanks for arranging this again Caylin. I'm all for shaking it up and changing the restaurant.

And I am GRATEFUL to Caylin for considering food issues. (If you aren't someone with food issues, allergies or whatever else there is, I'm sure you don't understand but some of us...like myself...can't even step into certain restaurants without having to use our epipens which then requires a 911 call and a rush to the emergency room. Not exactly how I want to spend my time at the con.)

I don't care about cost. This is a once a year event. Splurging on a once a year event is part of the fun. But the distance from the con is an issue, since some of us will be flying in and not have access to a vehicle.

I know Caylin has taken all of this into consideration when she planned. Because she rocks it that way. I trust her judgement and decision.

This sounds great and I would love to meet everyone. As long as the place has copious amounts of meat I am game :D

Oh, this sounds fun. Definitely count me in. As to the restaurant, I really have no preferences. I'll enjoy wherever we go, I'm sure. The comments about loud music make a good point--I've never been to a Hard Rock Cafe, but if the music is quite loud, that will diminish our enjoyment of conversation (which is the point, after all, not the food). So I vote for someplace maybe a bit on the quieter side.
