BrickCon 2013 Castle Planning

Post by JoshWedin »

Well its that time again!

There are already some plans in the air which I will talk about soon. However this is where we talk about it and where you tell me what you are bringing.

Remember, the Con theme this year is Pigs Vs Cows!

I am taking my Professional Engineers exam in mid October, so I'm going to be crunched for time with all of the studying I'll be doing.

However, I did get some of the Kickstarter pig and cow heads, and have also amassed a fair number of both pigs and cows, as well as bull knights and evil knights (the two castle factions who feature a cow and pig on their shields). If you figure out a place for me to do two 64x64 plates worth of a battle scene, I can fill that no problemo, and it won't require a lot of building on my part, just fig setup.

I cannot wait to see the inspired MOCs that will surface based upon the theme.

Hey everyone,

Having talked to Josh, I told him that I'd post it for everyone.

A few years ago we had a dragon fly in based on the dragon set Ollie. See here for a picture of our dragons. For those who don't know, we all basically took the instructions and built our own Ollie. (Like you can't tell which one was mine.)

Keeping in that theme, we're going to try and do this set. And either build your sigfig or your favorite faction. Here are the instructions. It should be fun.

Holy crap!! That sounds difficult, but really awesome.

Since I have instructions, I'll have to see what I can do to whip up my sig-fig. That would be pretty epic!

I hope so. I got the idea from Athos who is building one of these for Bricks by the Bay. I guess I'll be digging out a ton of green for me. It's the face that worries me the worst. But here is hoping we get a few guys there to be all of us.

Hi Josh!

Long time no see! Alice and I will be bringing a "random" project that will be 7 - 48x48 wide and 4 48x48 deep (336 studs by 192 studs) with varying heights from 1.5 feet to 4 feet tall.

I am also bringing an enhanced version of Castle Greyskull which will be roughly a 2 - 48x48 wide and 2 - 48x48 + 1 32x32 deep (96x128 studs) around 18 inches tall.

Looking forward to this year!

I make no guarantees, unfortunately, of what I can contribute overall. That's all still very up in the air.

I'm looking forward to it though!

Josh - I am coming and will hopefully have a forest section with castle and some other bits to either put by your water or Tom's trees (if they he and they are coming) or both. Will have more specific sizing soon. But can be flexible.

It is currently up in the air if I will be able to do anything for the collaborative display. I will be bringing a couple smaller stand-alones. I think I ought to be able to get something. I haven't used any of my baseplates, and my green bricks and plates have been mostly kept alone. I shall see what I can do.

I do need a headcount/show of hands as to how many people are doing something related to the Con Theme of Pigs Vs Cows.

I am planning a separate area in the collaborative layout for the PvC stuff. Epic battle!

Glad you said that! I will have stuff for both the pigs v cows and regular collaborative. I had been thinking of integrating them but I like what you are saying better.

I'm in for PvC. Do you want ONLY pig and cows fighting, or could it include boar knights vs. bull knights as well?

I was planning for the PvC sections to add on to the regular collab or maybe in the center of it, but to be all together. We'll see as things progress.
I'm excited about PvC. ;)

I was thinking both, mixing it up together. What do you think?
