BTW, you may recognize creations by Recluce, Marc Nelson, probably some other CCers as well.

Those trees are amazing. Brilliant use of the flower piece! I could see this being used for a micro-sized castle layout.

Later.

Man I have GOT to go to one of these! There really is a lot of creative building here! The stocks has to be my favorite - I'm not sure how they did that, but it looks really great - and it's a great idea I'm embarrested to say I never thought of!

The goats are really cool - and the white "smoke" coming out og the house on fire looks really good.

A great display, a great town... a lot of great thinking went into this. :D

Thanks for noticing, Bruce! I've been trying to find time to post about the Fall For Fairfax display, but I've had my hands very full with child care.

The display was a collaborative effort between myself, Magnus Lauglo, Derek Schin, and Emily Brownlow (Recluce) and her partner, Roo. The castle walls were from Magnus' modular castle, I supplied the terrain (based on BreadMan's Baseplate Plus Brick idea), and we all contributed structures.

Building on the raised baseplates allowed me to sink the paths below ground level, which I think makes for a much nicer look than paths built up on top of flat baseplates. I definitely recommend Baseplate Plus Brick for anyone's next display. I built the goats by stealing from Jens' and Jojo's goat designs, and the trees came from a similar idea using upside-down bush pieces (can't remember who that was).

I really had a great time, and I'd like to thank WAMALUG, all the contributors to the castle display, and especially Magnus for coordinating the whole thing. Special thanks to BreadMan, whose Baseplate Plus Brick system was the seed that grew into a pretty snappy display.

Yeah, it was fun, for sure. The first castle display I had ever participated in, and I hope to be able to do more at a later date.

The stocks were made using headlight pieces.

Fall For Fairfax display

Thanks Marc for posting the pix, and thanks also for thinking this display up. It was a pleasure working with everyone!

Working on this display really showed me how modular displays like this really benefit from a little planning in advance.
