Announcing BRICKSOUTH LEGO® Convention

Post by speaknspell »

I'm posting this on behalf of Chris Giddens:

Announcing BRICKSOUTH LEGO® Convention. BRICKSOUTH will be held in Atlanta, GA on April 27 - 29, 2006 in conjunction with the FIRST LEGO League Ocean Odyssey World Festival and the FIRST Championship. Last year thousands of middle and high school students from around the globe, along with their parents, attended the event. This year looks to be even bigger. Last year the local DixieLUG and NGLTC LEGO clubs presented a small display and were extremely popular with the attendees.

This year, we are calling on the AFOL community to come together, build up a community display together and encourage children of all ages to encourage creativity!

The Convention runs from Thursday through Saturday. Days will be public display until the evening, with time for AFOL community activities off site afterward. There will be a LEGO retail store on site and a LEGO retail store 25 minutes from the site with a AFOL shopping event and deals at the Discover Mills LEGO Outlet. Vendors serving food will be on site as well.

We are calling out to all Spacers for a major Moonbase, Trainheads and Townies for a huge display, Castleheads from Classic-Castle, and all you MINDSTORMS® freaks to show the kids how it's done. And, for the first time, a new community display will be unveiled: BUILD YOUR OWN GOTHAM™. Go to http://www.batbrick.com soon to learn more about the new community display standard! We will unveil LEGO Batman™ to the world there.

Atlanta boasts many tourist attractions such as The World of Coke,The Georgia Aquarium, Underground Atlanta and much much more. There's plenty of good eats (Varsity, Waffle House) and good fun (CNN tour, Phillips arena, Georgia Dome, Stone Mountain, Six Flags), in the capital of the South. Travel to and through Atlanta is easy through Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and the MARTA system.

This convention is FREE to participants. You'll have to pay for lodging and transportation, but to participate in the event is no cost to you. LEGO and FIRST have given us the space to display our creations. For a list of hotels in downtown Atlanta please visit http://www.gwcc.com/attendees/hotels.html and make your reservations.

Info on venue, go to http://www.gwcc.com and click on Exhibitors then Floor Plans We will be in building C in the exhibit hall. A HUGE area where thousands of people will come by to see your LEGO creations. Security for LEGO creations will be on site for the event at all times so you can feel secure about your stuff.
