Supertrain Calgary Castle Layout

Post by wlister »

Hi All,

Here are some links to the castle pictures from the Supertrain show SALUG and the CPLTC put together on Feb. 14 and 15. The unfortunate timing of this show kept Old_Republic and myself from Brickfest PDX. :(

This layout featured a castle with a lot of automated features like 2 pop-up ghosts, 2 fighting soldiers, 2 patrolling soldiers and a moving gate. All these things moved on their own and were great to see in person. The castle was not built by me, so I can't take credit, but it was a big hit. The layout also had a working trebuchet a few hundred invading soldiers and several CCC houses compliments of me. :D Anyway there are a lot of pics in the gallery so these are the links to the best of the castle pics.

In this link you can see Old_Republic and myself in the upper left of the pic. I have the stripe on my shirt.

The folder link is: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=73816

The folders owner is the builder of the automated castle. Old_Republic is also responsible for the Mos Eisely section of the layout, you can see those images in the folder link.

This years show was the first time SALUG incorporated other themes into the train/town layout, and the affect it had on the crowd was very gratifying. Our Lug is pretty small and we had to borrow a 2 members from NALUG to finish up the layout, but we did receive the Peoples Choice Runner Up award once again this year. We plan on really pulling out the stops and taking first place next year. Castle will be about a third of the layout next year! :D
After a long absence, I have returned. I can't wait to start building again.

Right on! I can hardly wait to do another show now. Yup, Mos Eisley is mine but I just wanted to chime in here at C-C and say that this is also mine....a castle. My attempt at a Black Falcons Fortress redux.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Sorry Old Dude,

I wasn't even sure LegoRoy got a picture of that little beauty. There were so many pictures of his castle it was hard to find pics for anyone else.

He did manage to get a pic or two with us in it though. Now that people have see us, no one wants to talk to us. We scared them all away. :D

WOW!!!!!!!!!! nice layout guys!! and especially nice castle Old_Republic, but why the monarch sheild?
Though you need more space for the precious castle layout, not crammed right next to a train! Trains get too much attention (too expensive, also).
Lollius has been placed by the side of the road so that all who pass may say 'hello Lollius' - Inscription on roman tomb

Thanks Kaloo. The Monarch sheild? Hmmm, I think it was just a sheild I slapped on there to balance the other one. I guess it could have used one of each of the Falcon sheilds though. Good eye.:D
